I don't think this will (or should) happen without the franchises being redrawn. These franchises (Southwest especially) also run services outside London with some routes not coming anywhere near.(http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/static/documents/content/routemaps/nationalrailoperatorsmap.pdf) Not sure it would fix relations between the management and unions anyway as TfL hasn't exactly been unaffected by strikes.
  2. We got Fay Ripley's "Fay's Family Food" when my daughter was about 9 months old and we still cook from it five years later. The recipes have are low touch and healthy and also have tips about how to modify them for young children. I'd certainly recommend it - we got it from Rye Books.
  3. I don't agree that the markings of the speed limit are vague - they are sign-posted and painted on the road plus there are banners in the borough saying that the limit in Southwark is 20mph. I also don't see how it being a TfL bus route makes a difference - are buses not expected to obey speed limits?

All of these > drivers will be written to about their driving > behaviour. Why weren't the details of the speeders passed on to the police? I doubt a person who thinks it is okay to do over twice the speed limit is going to take much notice of a letter.

I think Waitrose have missed the boat - I was not particularly an M&S fan but I think they have got the offering correct for East Dulwich. I think more interesting would be if Aldi took over The Co-op premises.
  6. The idea of having a second vote is far too reminiscent of what happened with the EU Constitution after France and the Netherlands rejected it in referendums. If the franchise is changed to allow people who weren't eligible to vote the first time to vote the second then it does just look like an attempt to stack the deck. Perhaps if the EU had taken note of the concerns of the European people back when the EU Constitution was rejected and revised how the EU worked then the UK wouldn't be at this juncture.
  7. William Rose has them - tucked inside on the right hand side.
  8. Traffic was very heavy again this morning going right back to Red Post Hill. It looks like Thames Water (or one of their contractors) are doing some work at the intersection and their are temporary lights.
  9. I found an Oyster card and driver's licence in an Oyster card holder near Friern Road this morning belonging to Jamie Thomas Middleton. Please PM me if it is yours or you know him otherwise I'll drop it at the police station. Thanks, rjsmall
  10. By co-incidence I was in the Museum of London on Saturday and they have an exhibit and interactive display with the maps http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/london-wall/whats-on/galleries/peoples-city-1850s-1940s/ Very interesting to look at what was in the area 125 years ago.

Many thanks for raising this. > Hi James - I agree that the service is problem free in the mornings - I use it to do the school run and it works very well. However the evening service is a different matter. I get the bus at the stop by the South Circular / Croxted Road junction and although the bus only starts a mile or so up the road at Streatham they are very badly regulated - I quite often wait twenty minutes only to have two P13s appear within a minute or each other. I use the mobile countdown website and it is frustrating to load the page and see the due time as 17 and 18 minutes.
  12. Yes - seems to be back to normal which is good.
  13. The P13 is on diversion due to resurfacing on Whateley Road. (https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/status/?Input=P13&lineIds=p13&direction=inbound) Does anyone know how long this is scheduled to last? Thanks, rjsmall
  14. During the school term I use the P13 to take my daughter from the Friern Road stop to the West Dulwich station stop. Usually we get the bus about 8:05am (as Jah Lush suggests use the Live Bus Arrivals from London Transport online) and arrive anywhere between 8:25am and 8:35am. On Friday there is usually less traffic and the journey is quicker. It can get crowded at the Grove Tavern stop but a lot of people get off at Dulwich College and West Dulwich station. I have found it to be very reliable - once or twice in the mornings it was late. For the return journey in the evening I have found it less reliable - sometimes you get no bus for 20 minutes and then two turn up a minute apart.

Barry Road is a residential road and I'd suggest that far more speeding takes place on that road than Melbourne Grove.
  16. I recently celebrated my 40th in the top floor of the EDT. Great venue and the staff were good. The upstairs has plenty of room for dancing (we had a band) and loads of space at the bar.
  17. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The P13 bus diversion will be Upland Road, > Dunstans Road, Peckham Rye, Barry Road Lordship > Lane. I don't quite understand how this diversion works. I assume this is going towards Streatham and the bus would turn right along Upland Road (after the Friern Road stop) until it intersects with Dunstans Road (but remains as Upland Road) and then turn right along Lordship Lane thus missing the affected part of Underhill Road along with the rest of it and Melford Road. I cannot work out where Peckham Rye and Barry Road come into it going in either direction.

Diversion proposed is Upland Road, > Dunstans Road, Peckham Rye, Barry Road, Lordship > lane - a very long diversion. Hi James, would you please be able to find out how that would affect the P13 bus route? Presumably a diversion of some description would be put in place. Thanks.
  19. I'd also add a recommendation for Bradley. Came and cleaned my carpets on Saturday after quoting for the job on Thursday. Friendly and professional.

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > steveo Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > My daughter lost her toenails > > Goodness, how did she do that? If your shoes are too small the toenails continuely tap the front which causes bleeding under the toenail. This is what the blackness underneath is. They then tend to falloff. See http://www.bupa.co.uk/running/injury-prevention-and-recovery/injuries/black-toenail/ If you wear shoes that fit correctly it shouldn't be a problem. I'd recommend going to a specialist running shop to get shoes that fit - I have been going to Run and Become (www.runandbecome.com) near Westminster for years and always found them very good.
  21. I think there are two separate parts to this - the cafe at the front and Gymboree at the back with their entrance on the side (under the sign that is hanging).
  22. The fact they are taking over the Spirited Wines location sort of completes a circle. Oddbins was sold to Seagrams who in turn sold it to Castel Fr?res who rebranded some of the stores as Nicolas. Castel Fr?res then sold some of the Nicolas stores to Spirited Wines who now seem to be selling to Oddbins. Plus ?a change etc etc

The story says the CEOs of the FTSE 100 companies (so 100 people) have seen a 12% increase in income.

I'd disagree with this - I think it has been very well publicised by posters at bus stops and on buses along with constant annoucements on buses for at least the past month. There have also been radio ads in the lead up to the change along with ads on the TfL website.
  25. I'd also suggest checking out the EDtots website http://www.edtots.co.uk It has a good listing of activites by day and age range.
