former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?

Barry Road is a residential road and I'd suggest that far more speeding takes place on that road than Melbourne Grove. -
Looking for 40th party venue recommendations
rjsmall replied to ????'s Mrs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I recently celebrated my 40th in the top floor of the EDT. Great venue and the staff were good. The upstairs has plenty of room for dancing (we had a band) and loads of space at the bar. -
James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The P13 bus diversion will be Upland Road, > Dunstans Road, Peckham Rye, Barry Road Lordship > Lane. I don't quite understand how this diversion works. I assume this is going towards Streatham and the bus would turn right along Upland Road (after the Friern Road stop) until it intersects with Dunstans Road (but remains as Upland Road) and then turn right along Lordship Lane thus missing the affected part of Underhill Road along with the rest of it and Melford Road. I cannot work out where Peckham Rye and Barry Road come into it going in either direction.

Hi James, would you please be able to find out how that would affect the P13 bus route? Presumably a diversion of some description would be put in place. Thanks. -
Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > steveo Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > My daughter lost her toenails > > Goodness, how did she do that? If your shoes are too small the toenails continuely tap the front which causes bleeding under the toenail. This is what the blackness underneath is. They then tend to falloff. See http://www.bupa.co.uk/running/injury-prevention-and-recovery/injuries/black-toenail/ If you wear shoes that fit correctly it shouldn't be a problem. I'd recommend going to a specialist running shop to get shoes that fit - I have been going to Run and Become (www.runandbecome.com) near Westminster for years and always found them very good.

I think there are two separate parts to this - the cafe at the front and Gymboree at the back with their entrance on the side (under the sign that is hanging).

The fact they are taking over the Spirited Wines location sort of completes a circle. Oddbins was sold to Seagrams who in turn sold it to Castel Fr?res who rebranded some of the stores as Nicolas. Castel Fr?res then sold some of the Nicolas stores to Spirited Wines who now seem to be selling to Oddbins. Plus ?a change etc etc

The story says the CEOs of the FTSE 100 companies (so 100 people) have seen a 12% increase in income.

I'd disagree with this - I think it has been very well publicised by posters at bus stops and on buses along with constant annoucements on buses for at least the past month. There have also been radio ads in the lead up to the change along with ads on the TfL website.

fun things/groups to do with a two year old girl in ED...
rjsmall replied to wharto's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'd also suggest checking out the EDtots website http://www.edtots.co.uk It has a good listing of activites by day and age range. -
Mini Movers dance class at Fusion on Crystal Palace Road. Mondays at 14:10. Drop in, so no need to prepay for a series. When the weather is good, cross the street to Goose Green Park for play. Really nice dance instructor and good fun for the kids.

london bridge trains again (6th Jan 2014)
rjsmall replied to jcrwillcox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That may explain to me why a London Bridge train went through Peckham Rye without stopping around 8:15am this morning (I assumed it was meant to be the 8:13am). Thankfully I was able to get on the Overground and go to Canada Water - sounds like I got a lucky break. -
london bridge trains again (6th Jan 2014)
rjsmall replied to jcrwillcox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd agree that the evening trains leaving London Bridge seem to work to a somewhat random schedule. I usually catch the 17:30, 17:40 or 17:50 and these seem to be consistently delayed usually due to late arrival of the inbound train. Last night they excelled themselves by delaying the train for about seven minutes as the driver was on their break. I would have thought they could have scheduled the train departure and driver break a bit more sensibly. -

I completely agree with Olly. I frequently find that when crossing Barry Road whilst driving on Underhill Road (towards Lordship Lane) the visibility up Barry Road (towards the Dulwich Library intersection) is often blocked by parked vehicles. If the parked vehicle happens to be tall vehicle such as a van or truck then visibility of oncoming traffic is completely obscured. I have assumed these vehicles are parked legally but always wondered why the spaces are provided when they block the view from the intersection. rjsmall -
I was out on the Rye last evening enjoying listening to these drummers when the fun police came and told them to stop. It wasn't particularly late - about 6:30pm and they had a some good beats going not just random noise. It was a shame they had to stop although they appeared to be very good natured about it. I wouldn't have thought they were making much more noise than police helicopters and cars with sirens going. It would be interesting to know what the council noise team's position on it would be. rjsmall

advice re: morning trains to canary wharf pls
rjsmall replied to seemster's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd add that if you are going via Canada Water make sure you touch the pink oyster card validator near the top of the escalators so that you are charged a zone two only route. Not sure if you would be charged for a zone one and two ticket (e.g. a route via London Bridge) but I suspect the default would be the highest cost ticket and not the lowest. More details here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14871.aspx -
Is it safe to run to Denmark Hill at 6am in the morning
rjsmall replied to reneet's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've run around East Dulwich and the surrounds at 6am and as late as 8pm when it was dark and haven't felt in danger. I think it comes down to running in areas where it is well lit and not off the beaten track. I wouldn't go running around Dulwich Park or similar in the dark - I tend to stick to the main roads. If I didn't run in the dark I wouldn't get out between October and March. rjsmall. -
I have been a stay at home Dad for about two months now and would also be interested in meeting up during the week with other Dads (and children) in East Dulwich. There are some good activities around the area during the days although sometimes I am the only Dad there. I have a one year old just starting to walk so playgrounds and activity groups feature big on my schedule.

Just seen the red medical emergency helicopter take off and head north. The blue and yellow police helicopter still circling though.
