Are you glad you did music lessons as a kid?
Otta replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Most kids hate practicing in the evenings, but they can get a lot out of it socially. Last year my old school music teacher passed away, and former students ranging from people that have gone on to professional careers to those that sang in the school choir all were saying that their musical life in school gave them so much. We may have just been especially lucky though I guess. -
What makes a wedding a "grown up event" as opposed to a "family event"? Personally I'm fine with kids til about 8pm by which time I want them gone so I won't accidently fall on one whilst pissed. But if someone says no kids at their wedding then that's up to them.

I think a lot of them are to be honest. See MrBen's post about his mate. I don't judge the guy for wanting a bit of extra cash, so do I. But basically that was what made him decide who to vote for and he won't be alone.

MrBen could be describing my family and income in that post, but anywhere we've gained in the past 5 years (slightly less tax to pay), we've lost elsewhere (no more child tax credit). So basically we're worse off (long pay freezes).

That's why I went for the Z3 compact, got fed up with huge handsets, and it's one of the only compacts to basically keep the specs of it's full size cousin. Plus it's waterproof which is handy when kids are around.
-
Both my wife and I had S3s and both got damaged. I ended up not being able to charge mine and had to buy an external charger and spare batteries. I liked plenty about the handset but build quality has put me off Samsung.
-
I said straight away that I'd like to see Chuka as new Labour leader. Reading that has confirmed that.

Xperia Z3 or Z3 compact are good.

Really? FFS, thisnisba why no one will take the left seriously. Ducks.

I think you're a teacher if memory serves, so you know a bit about teachers and schools. But you clearly know very little about how local authorities / health work.

Nice flaming.

Basically I just think it depends on individual perspective / opinion. I've signed way to many "sorry you're leaving" cards in the last few years for people that haven't left by choice. Kind of gets you down.

Time to cull. Just to clarify, earlier when I said people had said they didn't care about people losing jobs so long as they were okay, I didn't mean they'd said that directly to me. Believe me if that happened they'd be kicked to the kerb. And the morons with the UKIP stuff were people I've never met, they're mates of a lad I've met a few times through a friend. He's basically a nice lad, but the sort who will fall for whatever he reads in the tabloid paper or what his mates tell him in the pub. There is one lass who I went to primary school with who is a Tory supporter living in Kent who works in the NHS. She does wind me up and I should probably unfriend. Yesterday she was gloating the second Miliband and Clegg resigned, and saying "don't know what people are getting upset about, it's just like football banter". NO IT F*CKING ISN'T YOU MORON, THIS STUFF ACTUALLY MATTERS TO PEOPLE AND PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR JOBS!!!!". She is a very vocal Man U supporter as well, so basically there is absolutely nothing redeeming about this woman from my perspective.

With regards that article, I am not convinced that facebook is a lefty as this guy makes out. I have several Tory friends on there and quite vocal they can be. The other day a facebook friend (friend of a friend in real life) was undecided, and I said "vote for whoever makes most sense to you, just so long as it's not UKIP". This was after several of his mates had encouraged him to vote UKIP. One of them then started sending me links to various websites designed to show Labour as "the paedo party" and stuff like that. I tried to have a sensible discussion with him about UKIP#s lack of policy, but he wasn't having it. It's when I see stuff like that that I call people thick, and make no apology for it. Britain First also very big on social media. It's not the lefty haven that some like to paint it out to be, it's just that these people happen to have more left than right leaning friends, so see it all on their timelines. Don't even get me started on the abuse the wife has had because she has a very Jewish sounding last name.

Just checked, Had 9 years of Tory between 83 - 92. That was when it was just Dulwich constituency. Before that it had been Labour since 64.
-
Have lib dems ever held Dulwich? As far as I remember it's been Labour my whole life.

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/tory-candidate-mike-freer-labour-canvassers-are-telling-orthodox-jews-im-gay-10228322.html Hadn't heard about that, and if true totally disgusting. But only his word for it and no.suggestion the Labour candidate had any knowledge.

Yep, I'd be on board. I am a fan of Miliband the man, but could never understand why he never hid Ed Balls away out of sight and mind right from the start. May have been a bit harsh on Balls but the Tories spent 5 years successfully convincing everyone that Labour were reapinsinle for all of the world's financial woes, and no one represented the Brown government from a financial perspective like Balls did. He was poison for them just be sitting there.
-
I don't think Miliband was dishonest, he just had nothing particularly good to promise us. That's why when I voted Labour I was voting against the tories, not voting FOR an ideal. I want Labour to take some time to rebuild and come back with a new choice. Not holding my breath though.

I jave never said that of you vote Tory you've done so because you've been fed a lie. I've said that that is the case for some. It's you that's taking what O say and making big assumptions out of it.
