Oh my God, that's reminded me. I was on a 177 bus from Woolwich to Peckham on the way home from work some 12 years ago. Really pissed Irish fella sits on a fold down seat neat the front of the bus (single decker), and as we got to New Cross bus garage I heard this African fella shout "what are you doing dirty man". I looked up to see a trail of piss snaking across the floor towards my bag and my feet. The Irish fella hadn't even bothered standing up, he'd just whacked it out from where he was sitting and taken a slash. That's much worse than shaving, but until I saw your post I'd obviously blocked it out.

I assumed they just wanted a total ban on eating.

I can't even remember that one, sounds great. So what is the most anti social / just plain minging thing you've encountered on public transport? Mine is a bloke shaving and letting the cuttings just fall to the floor.

I used to love going to the performances at Hornimans both tonneau the amazing drumming and awesome dance moves of the pros, but also for the hilarious sight of white middle class women with no discernable rhythm, drumming along slightly behind the beat.

It's entirely possible that is there wasn't some healthy fear attached then every fucker woukd jump on a bike and we'd end up with carnage. Obviously I have absolutely nowhere evidence to back that up, but it's possible.

God I wish I was more motivated to work today. I'm involving myself in this nonsense for something to pass the time.

I wasn't missing your point rahrahrah, I was just not really agreeing with it. More people may die / get injured playing football than cycling, but why do they die / get injured? In a lot of cases it will be because of the unpredictable actions of another player.

I wish you'd stop calling iot a child leash, that's just language designed to wind people up (even if you did find a profuct with that title). And whilst I understand the point you are making, I don't think it's comparable (child walking / running on pavement compared to child passenger on bike). I guess the most apt comparrison could be seat belts in cars. You may have never been involved in a crash. Every time you get in your car you PROBABLY won't have an accident, and yet you belt up. I know this is the law, but even bofore that, most people did it anyway, because despite the fact that it probably wouldn't be needed, people just felt it more sensible to play it safe. But again for me it was the whole dog thing. I've never seen that on the roads, and if it is legal I'd be quite surprised.

Is the woman on the treadmill included in the package?

Daddy Pig is awesome. "You must become one with the puddle". I also like Miss Rabbit (not to be confused with mummy rabbit) and Mr Bull. Although fortunately we're now mostly over the whole Peppa phase with both kids. Most of the time if I watch something I loved as a kid I find it's aged badly or just isn't very good. Princess Bride is still as good and brilliant as it ever was. If it wasn't for the opening scene where Fred Savage is playing a baseball video game on an old 8 bit system (NES?), the film would be truly timeless.

You come over as someone that really does not like to be questioned, but hey ho. I too agree with rahrahrah that we are creating a culture of risk aversion and wrapping kids in cotton wool too much. But equally there are just some things I personally wouldn't mess about with. Couple of points. Cycling isn't THAT dangerous if you know what you're doing, which I'm sure cyclist does. However, you're still using the roads and accidents can happen however experienced you are. If a lorry hits your bike you're probably screwed, helmet or not. It is possible that a person can come off their bike in a random and unexpected moment. If that happened a kid in a helmet stands less chance of cracking their head on the ground than a kid without a helmet. Football isn't generally played on concrete. When I first read this thread, it was the dogs which caught my attention. To each their own, I couldn't really give a toss what cyclist does and whether or not he does it safely, but to be honest it surprised me that it was even legal to ride in the road with a dog or two running along side you in the road (I am assuming it is legal?). But anyway.... Cyclist Wrote: (5 days ago) ------------------------------------------------------- > The helmet is a fair point. Couldn't we all have just rejoiced then and locked this stupid thread (which is like a car crash that I can't stop looking at)?

That's a nice thing, I like the idea of reading with my girls when they're a bit older, and have certain books from my childhood which I want to read with them (Vera Pratt and the Bishop's false teeth is high on the list). But the wife seems to have taken monopoly on reading time.

Totally depends on the wheelchair user in question.

My sister lives right at the top[ of the road, and she tend to use Forest Hill for trains. There's also a reasonably big Sainsbury's in Forest Hill.

Damn, think I'm at a wedding the day of the Charlton match.
