  1. And it's not Louisa romanticising. My mum is gutted about the loss of Iceland and very worried about the staff.

I don't know that "shame" is the right word. I do know what you're saying, and I do miss the great times that I had in the CPT, but the fact is that the people are gone (either moved away or dead), so if the CPT was back tomorrow there would be no one in there. But yeah, TGE is not my bag, but they seem to have found enough people that want to eat their Sunday lunch with some jazz, so good luck to them. (bunch of wrong'uns)
  3. The relatively tame foxes you feed are not entirely typical.
  4. Whereas the Great Exhibition, whilst having nods to the old, is very much a different place to the CPT. But the have jazz there so I avoid.
  5. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Forresters was better than the Bishop cos you > could use the pool cues to bash your mates over > the head. Them was the days. It was better than The Bishop because The Bishop is shit. And that's not anti gentrification, that's just me thinking the Bishop is shit. Basically all fur coat and no knickers. Scratch the surface and it's the foresters with higher prices.

  8. These "exotic" meats can be found in any supermarket in Australia. It's not as though they're out shooting endangered species. Elephants I'd have an issue with. Cats? Who cares.
  9. James didn't post anything particularly personal and certainly not offensive. People just quick to jump on anything.
  10. It's a tree down at Forest Hill, so New Cros to West Croydon / Crystal Palace, and Southern trains to LB are suspended.

I remember Joe the butcher (who worked in there), used to drink in the CPT with my old man. I remember the mag having the worst rep as I was growing up. Foresters only seemed to get bad in it's last couple of years when a bunch of lads about my age who had been barred from everywhere else, took it as their Base. I avoided it then having had run ins with them before.

  13. I think the most disgusting thing about E&C is the money they paid to home owners that had bought their flats on the estates.
  14. Is that Jah A or Jah B?
  15. Have you honestly heard of that happening forx? That is clearly completely inappropriate, but I can't imagine it.
  16. Agreed, that is just housing issues. But when it's a local authority doing really shady deals, then yes.

  18. I'm a little bit torn on this. I have no moral issue with it at all, so long as you're not pissed. And yet, I dunno, I'd just feel a bit scummy doing it. I'm no goodie goody, but drinking in a kid's playground just wouldn't feel right for me. Not that I'd care if someone else was doing it, and I totally agree that we shouldn't be hiding kids away from booze. And I would much rather see someone watching their kid in the playground whilst enjoying a cold beer than totally ignoring their kid in a beer garden whilst drinking and chatting with friends.
  19. That's where I was thinking of. Spent a lot of my teens around there /new cross / Deptford Deptford.

When you're trying to implement these cuts on a daily basis it makes you a bit sick seeing sensationalist stories about some layabout benefits scrounger who is not even remotely typical. And in my area (currently SEN) what you see is the families that have money and resources using said resources to take a council to Court and end up being awarded unbelievable resources for their child who is no more needy than shed loads of other kids from families that don't have the money or knowledge to go that route. Sick twisted society where money follows money and fuck the rest of them.

And parts of Brockley were proper rough. New Cross always had some interesting characters and loads of squats.
  22. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > I'm not looking for happiness and I'm going > nowhere. So you actually enjoy living somewhere that you don't like? Because let's be honest, you really don't like ED anymore. You might say it's the people and businesses that you don't like, but for better or worse, those things ARE the area. I've never hidden the fact that for me ED had gone a wee bit too far in the last two or three years, but that's just me, I'm still fond of the old girl. But for you foxy it's just relentless negativity. And yet you're not interested in moving somewhere more like the ED you used to love.
  23. But I take exception to people saying ED used to be a shithole. It was never that.
  24. Wow, just caught up on this. Couple of observations. ED has never had a load of nail shops and fast food places. K&W has never been the best kebab shop in the area, Yilmaz kicked it's arse, and then Hizar took over and did the same. Foxy definitely should sell up and move somewhere that makes him happy (not Penge). The Bishop is shit. The Evening Standard is a pointless rag.
