  1. Yep, if based on that then Ed would have no chance at all.
  2. Sydenham, and EVEN Penge *gasp* are areas where change is afoot too. Since moving to Penge in Feb it really feels like ED did maybe 12 years back. People are coming for the housing which is similar stock to ED but a fair bit cheaper, and with them is coming change. I'm happy with that so long as I get a good pub and they keep the 99p shop (Oh my God that place is wicked, who knew?!)
  3. Yeah I heard this woman in the park in Sydenham boasting loudly to her mate that they'd rented a place more or less next door to Elliot Bank for just this reason, and that they wouldn't be hanging around once their kid had got in. That made my blood boil. I guess no way of doing it is going to please everyone.
  4. To be honest I'm not sure, but I guess schools would argue that if you call and ask for it they'll send it to you, thus making it available. But you're right, policies should be on websites.
  5. Our older daughter started at the school around the corner last year. Then in Feb this year we moved further away. We did look at the school close to our new place, but we didn't want to unsettle her, and will be relying on a sibling place for her sister next year. I totally take the point about a family living closer possibly being inconvenienced by a sibling from further afield taking a pace. However, part of me thinks "tough", hopefully it will stop people with more money buying houses closest to schools and pushing house prices through the roof.

  7. I don't know why people are talking as though Camberwell is under served by public transport. It has loads of buses, Denmark Hill and Loughborough Junction stations within a few minutes walk. It's hardly remote.

I'm not a violent man, but occasionally someone comes along who's face I just want to pound on. He is opne of these people. Along with f**king Cheggers, he has undone all the good that Richards, Moon and Floyd did for the name Keith
  9. I might go and order my washing machine and arrange delivery having seen it in the shop. Or I might go there for ASDA or Toys R us or something. I think there is quite a lot of stuff down OKR, but not being a driver I never go there.
  10. "OKR has nothing in terms of a destination, just retail parks and rubbish." Is a retail park not a destination that people might like to get to?
  11. I'm guessing here, but as the CoP only came in to action this month, schools probably have a window in which to get their acts together.
  12. And as it happens, I actually agree with you in terms of people choosing to use an existing service if they can afford it. I'd just rather that the service didn't exist.

Our estate is getting a lick of paint at the moment, and the painters seem to turn up for an hour or so in the morning then they're not seen again, their little crane thing just sits there on the grass doing nothing. Yet I'm sure they're putting in hefty bills for full days work.
  14. But ZT is right Loz, the story did totally miss the point, the poor dead guy was barely mentioned. Also agree with RPD that the story makes the "mother of 4" sound like a bit of a selfish cow, whereas I'm sure that's not the case.

Be gone with your reasonable posts when I'm trying to make mischeif.
  16. I like threads like this, it's like a game of spot the people that send their kids private and spend their lives justifying it.
  17. Parents needing advise may find this site useful https://www.ipsea.org.uk/home Plenty there about EHCs. The whole thing is very new, and I can assure you that staff within SEN Teams in local authorities are still finding their feet with it. It should be welcomed that there has been a move to make these plans less insular, as education professionals do have a habit of thinking they're the only ones that know what is best for a child, as do social care anmd health professionals. This is a move towards making everyone come together so that the plan take in to accound opinions of everyone including the child. Legal rights shouldn't be diminished...
  18. Yeah I think catchment for secondary is rubbish, mosy 11 year olds should be able to get a bus to school independently. Primary school on the other hand should always keep siblings together IMO.
  19. As El Pibe says, a little message will appear at the top of your screen when any forum page loads.
  20. I got quite in to it for about 3 years, but last year I hardly watched and this year I can't bring myself to watch a minute.
  21. Wrong about the spelling of bellend (if that's true). Not sure they're wrong about EVERYTHING.
  22. I thought that was quite funny.
  23. Well it looks like neither of us got it right then (unless you changed your mind). Can't believe Jagielka chose today to pop up and hit the best shot he'll ever feckin hit! :-(
  24. I've shared it three times now.
  25. As I am sure a lot of people will.
