  1. Fair point Jeremy. I think there is a big gap though between disliking certain names as typical working / middle class, and actually discouraging your kids from being friends with thise kids. Some people may have opinions on the names I've given my kids, but I would hope they wouldn't assume that they are a particular type of kid because of that name.
  2. The Guardian seemed to like it Quids. Careful!
  3. Quids and SJ's regular little digs at each other are sort of amusing in a slightly uncomfortable way. Quids often refers to "Guardian Readers" as a label for what I guess he sees as soft lefty liberals. I sometimes agree with his stance and sometimes don't. Anyway, my point is, are there people out there who genuinely see THEMSELVES as a "Guardian Reader", or indeed a "Nameofanypaper Reader" in that they feel that the paper they read goes some way to defining them as a person? I don't personally read the papers, but I guess if I did, The Guardian would be closest to my political views, but I find all newspapers really annoying. I find most columnists just smug in their comfort zone. Not quite sure where I'm going with this, just Quids' use of the term, and other forumite's (not always SJ) responses, which suggest they feel that Quids is talking about them.

    Muslim Academies

I work in Newham education. Plenty of Muslims seem to do just fine in normal secular state schools. That is how things should be.
  5. Just sent you details. Enjoy.
  6. Pair of tickets available (to be collected from box office). Let me know if you want them.

I really don't see why everyone raves about babur take away OR restaurant. I mean the restaurant is good, and it was great when you copuld order take away from that menu, but it's not out of this world or any better than quite a few other places imn the surrounding areas. The take away is just shit.
  12. Ha ha, that too.
  13. I reckon you should just take her aside and ask her about it in a friendly "I'm here to support you" way.

    Great Gigs

Sound in an ibdoor venue SHOULD be good Sound outdoors just has too many variables. Love outdoor concerts where you can drink and smoke though, the atmosphere is always so cool.

    Great Gigs

I thought the sound was shocking, but not helped by the wind. Bruce has won me over though, quality geezer.
  16. I saw Bruce Springsteen last night at the Olympic park. I think I may be a convert. If you ask me who I prefer out of the stones and the boss, I'd have always (and probably still would) say the stones. However, based on this weekend's evidence, iof you offered me a ticket to see one or the other live, I'd take Bruce every time. The E Street Band are wicked!
  17. I was at home on my own kast night with several cans to get through and nout on telly, and I still couldn't be bothered watching Glastonbury. Think I need comoany or sone class A's.

I saw RHCP at Reading in 2007, and thought they were pretty shit. Came home and read rave reviews on the BBC about their set.
  19. No offence Jah ;-)
  20. MrBen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They spun it as wanting to "save the last half hour for the fans" but that's bollocks Quite! Plus how many genuine stones fans are likely to be at Glasto? They're all blokes of a certain vintage who will be watching on telly!
  21. Much as I love the stones' music, and think that Keef IS Rock N' Roll, their attitude about airing their set is exactly what is shitty about them. They struck a deal with the beeb, which no doubt involves a rather big pay off! Like they feckin need it!!!

  23. Yeah, you'll soon find out what it's like ;-)
  24. Red Leicester. Remember seeing it sold for a fortune on a posh cheese stall in Melbourne!.
  25. What Jah said. I would rather have Henderson than Joe Allen!
