  1. Exactly EP, I've always dreamt of having that room (complete with bar).
  2. Maybe Kessler thinks he can and will win, and feels that if he doesn't then there's not a lot of point carrying on. Although that would make it one all, and surely a third fight would be good money...
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/22628387 Lots of Brits backing Froch, including Calzage, who doesn't usually have nice things to say about him (or the other way around).
  4. Lara Croft - Tomb Raider ;-)
  5. 7/7 bombs caused terror. Yesterday caused horror. Is horrorism a word? It should be, I have decided.
  6. What El Pibe said (because he said what I was trying to say).
  7. woodrot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > expect much anti islam agitation and posturing out > of this. it could be a marinus van den lubbe type > of trigger for the short of sense Which is why I wish they'd stop using the words islamic and terrorism every two seconds!
  8. By definition yes, but I think maybe that definition needs looking at. "Hate crime" would be more appropriate IMO. We shall see what facts come out, but I suspect this was two men acting alone.
  9. Doesn't sound like a terrorist act, but 2 nasty nut cases who slashed up some poor young guy. My old colleagues from when I worked for Greenwich Social Services could see the bodies from their office window and are quite upset by it.

Every single word of it!
  13. PS. IF a motorist has decided to teach a cyclist a lesson, and bump him / her (for example) then I fully agree that that person deserves a very severe punishment. On that you will get no argument from me. However, if CCTV Shows a cyclist zooming out of a side turning at full speed (for example) then I want them punished too. And just to add, I'm not a motorist, and I used to cycle a lot. When I did cycle, I realised that cars and buses would hurt if I hit them, so I was very careful. I see lots of cyclists who seem to throw caution to the wind, and just go full pelt, believing that if they get hit, it's everyone else's fault but their's because they are vulnerable.

  15. "glad its not 'them and us' anymore" Except where binary star is concerned it would seem. binary_star Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > *Bob* Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > binary_star Wrote: > > > -------------------------------------------------- > Yeh because MY issue is with people singling out > the most vulnerable (not dangerous) road users to > have a go at. Which basically translates to "I've made up my mind, if you are in a car you are dangerous. Cyclists are vulnerable, so I'm with them, even the ones who do act like cunts".
  16. "It's about looking at the most serious problems and finding solutions that reduce harm." Well then this is pointless. No reasonable person is going to say that a motorist acting like a cunt t6owards cyclists is reasonable. But those motorists aren't going to give a shit what you think anyway, and will continue to act like cunts. All you can do is cycle carefully, and hope that you don't come across these particular motorists.
  17. Oh dear God! He says becoming a father has influenced his decision because he doesn't want to tell his son he quit. Well perhaps you should think about your wife and kid before you go and get knocked the fuck out again! Build a career doing something else, and hope your son never hears about the boxing!
  18. These threads always make me laugh. LD has her agenda, all the cyclists are on board wearing their blinkers, and nothing anyone else ever says will convince them that cyclists are anything other than 2 wheeled angels. There was a thread a good while back about some dick who chased after a bus that he felt had cut him up. He rode along side it banging on the bus until the driver stopped, got out, and punched him. I felt that given his behaviour it was an understandable reaction, but no cyclist would even admit that he'd been remotely in the wrong (distracting a moving bus with passengers on board). As I said earlier, there are idiots on this planet. Some of them drive, some cycle, some push buggies and let kids run around in pubs. That doesn't mean that the other 90% of people are all bad.
  19. So we had him 6 months, lent him out for a season then lost ?20m. Good bit of business there. Good luck to him, I'd still like to have him at Anfield, but stubborn Rogers has his plans.
  20. What are you calling for LD, all motor vehicles to be taken off the roads? All of these cases (which I have now read) are independent events. Some are outrageous, and some we know nothing about. You seem to take the stance that if a cyclist is killed or hurt by a car, it must be the driver's fault. As I said earlier, there are plenty of idiots on both sides, and if an idiot on a bike gets themself killed (as in the accident is their fault), then you can't really blame the driver of the car just because their vehicle was harder.
  21. As I see it there are several different issues here. 1. Are the parents at least partly to blame? IMO Yes. When you have small kids you don't leave them alone unless you're a moron, and it is neglect of the worst kind. It is possible the child would have been snatched at another time, but don't make it bloody east FFS! 2. Should the parents be punished for it? They have been in the worst possible way, they have lost a daughter. 3. Is Sue like a dog with a bone? Yes 4. Does DJKQ love any opportunity to row with Sue? Yes 5. Can either of them just rise above it and not have the last word? Hell No!
  22. "Out of all road users, the cars, buses, vans and lorries cause the most problems to other road users" That could be written "Every road user except cyclists cause problems for cyclists".
  23. James I imagine every local authority will be asked to take a quota of people arriving. Once you get your base authoeiry, they may well house you out of borough, but they are financially responsible for you. It gets complicated when it comes to local services and whether the cost should be picked up by the base of host borough.
  24. I just Googled scalet virginia, and it turns out it's a rock band. Not helpful here, but there you go.
