  1. Also, just to make clear that I'm not denying that some disabled people suffer at the hands of arseholes, both hatred and discrimination. I just don't like the idea of painting our society as generally anti disabled. Lots of people I work with get daily assistance from strangers on the street, and that is the positive side of it. That is not to deny that the negative side exists.
  2. Thanks Helena. Just to add, that I also have a disabled mother, and have a disability myself (although I don't count myself as a disabled person really, but the freedom pass is nice) :)-D So there you go Andrew. I have every symapthy with the lady that the OP talked about, but not every disabled person would share your points of view, because they are not definied by their disability, as I am sure you are not.
  3. Oh come on, that was quite funny!

I think you might be aiming that at me. If so, you have me wrong. I'm not doubting anything, just trying to address the balance. I promise you, I know a bit about disabilities.

I can't play well in the best conditions, so no problem for me!
  6. Same here. Towards the end, it got a bit rough, as a particular bunch of people were barred from everywhere else, but I have some good memories of it just being a nice pub with pool and a good juke box.
  7. I remember wearing one, but probably only in the few days leading to the 11th, not for weeks, which seems to be the trend with lots of people these days.
  8. I have to say, that for every story like the ones above, there are loads and loads of disabled people who will tell you that the public are very kind, and helpful.
  9. Agree with pretty much all of that, although I did grow up in ED, and it wasn't that bad! ;-)
  10. Not read that link, but I suspect some people with a lot of cash will buy the season ticket as a kind of status symbol, and will go to the matches that get them excited (Man U, Spurs, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool), but won't bother with the rest, because they can watch highlights on MOTD. Not really huge footy supporters, but people who like the game, and can afford to be picky. I'm sure you get this at most clubs, especially the "big" clubs.

First year doesn't even count towards your degree a lot of the time, and it would mean a lot of people would drop out pretty quickly, which probably wouldn't new bad thing either.
  12. To be honest, I think I'll wait a little while to buy ES5, as I have quite a lot of loose ends to tie up in several games, even Oblivion and once I get in to that I suspect nothing else will get a look in! Plus it'll drop by a few quid ;-)
  13. Personally, I often put some coins in the box in the pub, but rarely wear a poppy, as I seem unable to get through 2 hours without it being totally ruined!
  14. Dark Souls looked pretty cool to me, BUT, Elder Scrolls 5 out any day now, and that is a divorce waiting to happen!
  15. I strongly suspect this is a nonsense. If however it was true, then those millions of people would be millions of idiotic people! To say "never again" is surely the biggest respect and recognition you could possibly give.
  16. That's me done on the site now. Thanks! Christ, your skin must be transparent, it's so thin!
  17. Cycle on the pavement > Cycle through a red light > Have a late night party. > Let your dog shit in the park. Surely 3 of those actually are against the law? (assuming you don't pick up said shit).
  18. Otto was Otto before I was Otta, but I'm happy to smash up a car and let him take the blame ;-)

Anyway, couldn't the OP just accidently fall over near the car, and put their hands out to break their fall, whilst holding their keys...
  20. What sort of lazy cunt drives to the bloody train station anyway?!?!
  21. Someone said that posts didn't come across in the way that you described them, and you said that that wasn't true. How can you know how something came across to someone else? I don't disagree with what you say in the above quote at all, I am just saying that if people took things differently, they may have misunderstood, yes, but you can't say that it is untrue that they've taken offence from your post. Anyway, I give up on this, I'm not even trying to argue with anyone, but everything that gets said on this thread seems to be taken apart, and twisted, and life is frankly too short.
  22. If people have taken something a particular way, then it is true, whether intended or not.
  23. Agreed, but I still wish Tom would give it a rest.
  24. Fair enough Marie, I guess then we need to trust grown ups to know how much booze it takes to get them tipsy. If it's one glass, then perhaps they should lay off it. If it's a bottle, then a glass or two won't be a problem (assuming they're not driving home).
