  1. Surely the most common sense, and spot on post on the whole subject.
  2. I do have to say that (whilst obviously to me, unintentionally), the tone of a lot of the posts on this thread could contribute to a real "us and them" feeling, which surely parents should be trying to dispel rather than strengthen. At the end of the day, I think it's important to accept that there are some selfish, arrogant parents out there, and rather than allow yourselves to be tarred with the same brush, whilst screaming war cries from your chariots (buggies) like a bunch of coffee infused Boudicas, it might be worth pointing out that you are different. I am a proud parent, but I certainly won't defend all parents to the hilt.
  3. I agree with KidKruger's above point too.
  4. I have always found Helena Handbasket to have her own mind, and has often gone against the "popular trends" in the family room, so to suggest that she is a Family Room bully is a total nonsense. Zeban, I have no problem with you personally, but there are several examples of you having an issue with a specific poster (more than one), and seemingly arguing with them in any thread, about any subject. It's tiresome.
  5. LizzynLondon Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Really??????? Oh well that makes it OK then! xx Only just come back to this thread, and No, it certainly doesn't make it alright (but thanks for totally misrepresenting me). The fact Tillie's son (who, for the record, I know) didn't have a phone on him to steal, doesn't change the fact that a lot of kids do, and so the muggers are probably more likely to bother trying to mug someone, in the knowledge that there is a good chance of a pay load. To suggest that anyone on here would blame the victims, or say "what do you expect" is comparrable to the sort of morons who say a woman deserves to get raped for wearing a short skirt. NO ONE HAS SAID ANYTHING OF THE SORT! All I said was that muggers have always been fairly common at school age, but now, they have a much better chance of getting something more than a couple of pounds dinner money, so perhaps they are more likely to bother attempting the muggings in the first place.
  6. If that were the case, then I would agree with you. However, I had always thought the white poppy just represented pacifism, which ios totally fair enough, not against the red poppies. Personally, I'd wear both, the red to show respect for those who gave their lives (on both sides of any war), and the white to show that I wish there were no wars.

Absolutely spot on. This thread should have stopped with this summary.
  8. Yeah I know, but as I say, these days one or two is enough to make her feel really crap the next day, and she can't be doing with that. I can confirm however, that she is very much looking forward to getting trollied once kids are a bit bigger!
  9. I love drinking, and as I don't get out much these days, I'll often have a few at home. On these occasions, I won't co sleep, just in case, and I think everyone probably has a better night for it. My wife hardly touches a drop due to breast feeding, and these days, she feels so rotten after a glass of wine, that it doesn't seem worth it. She used to be able to drink like a trooper though!
  10. I think I saw that too. And hasn't Ali said that he wouldn't have gone out for another round, used Frazier's corner not thrown the towel. I am too young to have seen him fight, but have watched so many recordings, that I've always thought of him as one if my favourite ever fighters. R.I.P.
  11. Problem with discussions like this, is that all parents get tarred with the same brush as small number of inconsiderate, frankly bad parents. Yes there are some rude parents with a massive sense of entitlement, but I'd say they are a very small minority.
  12. Mrs Otta (vegetarian) basically said the same. She thought it was silly for the Dutch to ban Halal / Kosher, when they allow things like battery chickens.
  13. People having fun during a generally depressing time. Bastards!
  14. Exactly, the animal would lose consciousness very fast and whilst it looks grim and messy, it's probably one of the better ways to kill an animal (not that the animal would be pleased). With regards the Dutch, they do seem to do quite a bit to make Muslims feel unwelcome. Tom, for a non meat eater, all you seem to ever talk about us eating meat. It's really boring.
  15. I think it was always common, but back when I was a teen (90s), we never had bits of kit worth hundreds of pounds in our pockets. Phones are so easy to sell on, and nearly everyone has them. Ironically, a lot of parents give them to their kids to help keep them safe.
  16. Do you think prices will drop if you get a lot of members?

    get a life

I think likan is spot on, this forum is shite, and everyone who uses it is a boring twat!!! Oh, hang on...
  18. Snowy, thanks for that, interesting links. To be fair to Saffron, I recently read a medical report by a consultant, that used the phrase "mild mental retardation". I was surprised at this, but there you go. With regards people calling disabled people scroungers, that is down to the tories, and those who do claim the likes of DLA dishonestly(and they do exist).
  19. Can you provide any links to articles about this, I am interested. I've not heard anything like this.

It is a current "in joke" amongst some forum users whenever there is a thread asking what is going on with the police cars down my road.
  21. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Gang activity. Dead cert. And to think you were trying a joke. This is horrible, only just heard about it on the news.

That's sad, they sent me a PM. I admit the OP wasn't exactly full of detail, but people couldn't wait to take the p!ss.
  23. I think it would be cool to just do simple wii games like bowling, it sonic and Mario Olympics. Can't really see serious gaming working in that environment.
  24. We're back.g fun too. Not so much with tantrums (although she can mix it with the best of then when she wants to), but more the fact she won't do ANYTHING she's asked. I thought it was all quite normal, but looking at her next to other kids, they all seek so quiet and well behaved.

Why was the thread about a school boy attacking women locked? I feel maybe I missed something, as I assumed it was genuine, from someone who wanted to warn people (even if it did need a lot more detail).
