All I was getting at is that at the very top (I'm only talking about 4 or 5 clubs, of which United are one) they need results, and they need champions league. That means a manager is limited in how much he can build or implement a philosophy.

So in the interests of actual useful discussion, what would you suggest the club do? Serious question, not intended to be inflammatory, I am curious as to what would appease you? PA Announcements could I suppose be turned down (although as I said before, I can't always hear them clearly within the ground), and fans could be asked not to bang on hordings (not that I've seen that much of that going on). But the club is pretty limited in what it can do to keep fans quiet. Also, two questions. 1. Is it POSSIBLE that the noise came from elsewhere that evening (like a band practising in a house)? 2. Do you have double glazing? I am not calling you a liar, and I have nothing to do with the club, but I am genuinely surprised tht noise would be an issue half a mile away with windows closed (as you report in your OP). I fully agree that it is in the best interests of the club to engage with it's neighbours, but the neighbours need to be willing to engage too, so let's all take a chill pill and try to have a useful discussion...

Great match yesterday, and great atmosphere. And fair play to their keeper, who despite letting in 5 (his defence didn't do much to help him, and he made4 a couple of good saves) and taking a bit of friendly ribbing, applauded the DHFC fans at the end, and apparently gave his gloves to a little kid. Hats off. I was meant to be away yesterday, but lack of trains screwed that up. Was a brilliant surprise to learn that one of my best mates was on his way down from boro and would arrive just in time for kick off.

It's a valid question, a school makes loads of noise. And in case you hadn't clicked, Penguin68 seems to be on the side of DHFC and is merely turning some of the arguments on their head in a valid way. I'd be interested to hear the answer to that.

Yeah there are usually a fair few people. I've not been for years though. I remember years ago agreeing to play the descant to Hark the Herald on the trumpet, only to meet my sister first and get quite merry. It was a rousing descant, if not entirely full of the right notes.

If there was something vindictive behind the thread and it was something personal, I think the OP would have made it more obvious exactly who they were talking about. I see nothing in the OP that suggests there was anything other than concern for a child behind it.

Hmm, LFC made some stupid decisions over that, which I think made a lot of fans cringe (the t-shirts especially). But I still now stand by my belief that it was more about stupidity and naivety than intent to racially abuse. I think even Evra acknowledged that.
