  1. Even Richard Dawkins is well known for loving Christmas Carols.
  2. And then there's Ben Carson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Carson#Political_positions

I wonder whether the civil servants will get final year pensions...

Has anyone bought this, and if so would you recommend? Think my daughter would love it, but don't want her to be upset if it doesn't work very well.
  6. The thing is, as the tide swings more and more against the traditional CoE/Catholic state schools, more and more other religious schools are opening because of the bloody free school nonsense (and yes I do think it's utter bollocks). I am seeing more and more muslim families sending their kids (especially girls) to islamic schools. I worry that in some cases these girls will never taste anything outside of their community, and will be quickly married off to produce the next generation. I love a multicultural London, and I like to see different communities within it. But I don't like it when communities avoid mixing altogether.

I used to be quite anti Christmas, describing it as a horrible time which makes lonely people feel even more lonely. And it is exactly that. But when you have young kids it is hard not to get caught up in their excitement and wonder. When I see adults get all excited about it I don't really get it.
  8. I also think that at one time it seemed like people were emboldened and rushed to have a dig at Lou and/or foxy. But I can also see why Lou and foxy were doing people's heads in at that time. I've always rather liked Lou's class war thing, and in some ways I've always been with her. Foxy is a good chap, but one who will not be proved wrong, even when he's been proved wrong, which can be grating. But I think both should be allowed to post wherever, there are far more abbrasive posters in the main section who seem to say what they like.

Apparently it was closed as a pub because it was being used as a venue for uillegal bare knuckle boxing.
  10. They are good. In a very dirty way.
  11. Being as most of the regulars that used to be the mythical clique no longer post, I'm interested to hear who "the same old cliquey names" are this week. Anything can be construed one way or another. Doesn't make both ways right. I don't know whether foxy's post was actually meant as a bit of a joke, because otherwise it just seems an absurd accusation to make.
  12. Just answered my own question. https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/about-tfl/what-we-do/roads I still think it's wrong to expect the developers to pay for this, being as it's an existing unsafe crossing point.
  13. It seems really wrong to me that TFL can not do something for people's safety if they have responsibility for it. Why should the developer chip in, they don't own the road? And why is it down to TFL as opposed to Southwark highways? I've never quite gotten my head around who is responsible for what.
  14. You weren't supposed to cook them Jeremy.

I had a look at the OP's post history, and all she ever did was say that you and foxy being so negative was a downer, and suggested that you have a day off. She then did a couple of "yawn" / "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" posts. Nothing personal or offensive, and she was far from the only person that was getting fed up around that time. I've never taken against you Lou, but this is a nonsense I'm afraid.
  16. Yes that's what I was thinking (person being on the Curry's) CCTV. But unfortunately you have to inform the police yourself.
  17. Ian did you report to the police or just the bank?
  18. Yep, I read this last night and couldn't get my head around why someone would have an ulterior motive for writing good things about various unrelated businesses.

It's no doubt part that, but also because I chose a smaller phone, hence smaller keypad. And sometimes (as with Diana / Diane, I type one word, and it takes it upon itself to correct me.
  24. Handmaids Tale is brilliant, but not a lot of laughs!
