How things have changed Nonsense. Young men and teenaged boys have been stabbing each other for longer than any of us have been alive. It's rare, and in most cases disagreements are sorted without weapons, but all this "in my day we fought wit' our fists" is just rose tinted nostalgia.
  2. And HOPEFULLY this won't end up as a murder! Any news on the boy who was critical?

    Labour Leadership

I was watching, and was impressed by, Andy Burnham on QT last night. Couldn't help thinking "why couldn't you have shown me some of this during the leadership race. I was desperate for him or one if them to show some quality. Looking back, it's unbelievable how of guard the other candidates were when Corbynmania kicked in.
  4. Maybe he wanted a clear distinction between him and his brother.
  5. Stuff like this has always gone on. It happened when I was at school and it happened before I was at school.
  6. Hehe heh, the evil in me would so love that to happen. Bet a maccas would do better business than a pub there.
  7. Hurrah the cherry tree, fair play. Don't s'pose you could stretch it to Penge? ;-)
  8. I am sureBrits abroad are some of the worst offenders. I don't have any suggestions about the law, my point is simply that if you live somewhere you SHOULD TRY to learn the lingo. And you shouldn't use your kid as your personal f*cking interpreter!!!!!!!!!

    Labour Leadership

I've never been a huge Ken fan, and his comments were out of order, but I believe quite strongly that more offence was claimed to have been taken than was actually taken.
  10. Edit because I'd heard wrong about ages. Both victims 15.

    Football Focus

Haha, I saw that story elsewhere and wondered what you'd make of it.

What, they'll be shocked that the same people that have had the pub for years (along with The Alleyns Head, and The Plough in Dulwich) still have the pub? Yeah, shocking man.
  13. I'm with Jeremy on this. Don't think you should need to speak English to get here, but if you're hanging around then you should learn it. I deal with a parent who has been here years (like 20 years) and we all know she can speak passable English, but in order to try to play the system she claims she doesn't understand. We are then forced to waste sparse resources on interpreters just so that she can no longer claim she doesn't understand (even though she understood damned well in the first place). It's ridiculous.
  14. They did things like steak sandwiches (with WAY too much red onion).
  15. Never going to be a Franklin's fry up for a fiver, but a lot better than I have in many cafes. Plus I don't really trust people that want posh fry ups.

I remember the JD Bottles with purple candles dribbling wax down the sides, and a guitar shaped neon light thing at the end of the bar. And there was one toilet for each gender (although I don't think people tended to use the correct one, just whichever was free).
  17. I stayed in a Travel Lodge the other night and went to a Harvester next door for breakfast. Cracking fry up for a fiver.
  18. On a brighter note, what (if any) are your favourite Charlie Sheen movies? As a young'un I loved Young Guns, although his character was a bit of a cock and died pretty early on. And I loved Major League with a young Charlie and Wesley Snipes. Of course the correct answer should be Platoon, but I never really liked war films.
  19. Yeah I think Kessler was his last big battle.

I dunno, Dulwich has plenty of families who might not have the space to put up inlaws, and there are regular wedings at Dulwich College, Hornimans or the Gallery, so guests might need a place to stay. Dulwich has always lacked B&B options. But then again they're turning the dog in to a hotel, so maybe that ship has sailed.
  21. Joe Calzaghe was never tempted by boxing comeback - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/wales/34862132 New Calzaghe film out next week.
  22. Hmmm. Well we'll probably never know, as I doubt it'll ever reopen, but I honestly believe it would go unused and close again if someone took a chance on it. Unless it was true that Wetherspoons were to close the Capitol and open there, I could see tat working. But that's not happening, so it'll probably be flats.
  23. One person's great location is another person's busy junction on the south circular.
  24. I assumed that M&B were the lease holders and were behind this revamp.

Whilst I think only good intentions have been at play, I also felt a bit concerned about this.
