  1. He was stupid to say it, and had no choice really. But the story was blown way out of proportion and I suspect those that took offence probably only did so once they realised the media were interested.
  2. It happened at the end of the school day. It is VERY aesy to walk in to most schools at that time, especially if you are a teenager.

Lots and lots of closed shops and a feel of bygone glory days. BUT at the same time, lots of projects looking ahead with the lovely steps at the top of the beach (which the water come right up to when the tide is in), and the revamping of the old pleasure beach. Only problem is it's a pig to get to. Doesn't feel as accessible as other seaside places.

    X Factor 2105

To be honest I'm so out if touch with modern charts that I wouldn't have a clue if people from the last few years had gone on to do much. I have (thankfully never even heard a 1D song (as far as I know) but did catch 10 minutes of them on Jonathan Rose last night and thought they seemed like okay guys for the most part.
  6. I basically agree with everything HMB says above, although I'd add that Sue makes it far too easy for them by always rising to it. Sometimes best to ignore or just tell someone to fuck off rather than engaging in tit for tat.

    X Factor 2105

I haven't watched it at all for the past couple of years. I did get hooked by it for a couple of years but the people I like never win, and the winners soon disappear, it's all just such a waste of time.

And for me, a kebab and a burger are about as similar as a burger and a bolognese.
  10. Yep, scotchbonnet1951 comes across as pretty childish and nasty, with a clear grudge against Sue, probably based on something Sue isn't aware of. And whilst Sue can be a bit of a dog with a bone about some things, she's done nothing at all wrong here so it's completely unfair for Celia to accuse her of dragging something up which someone else has dragged up.
  11. Don't think so in this case, but definitely has a gripe against Sue and has been pretty personal in at least 3 of her 19 posts on this forum under that name.
  12. I think some music videos are great. Some are funny (intentionally), some are dark, some add a different dimension to the song.

All some people (me included) have said is that it's not a sudden new problem.
  14. Go on Jah, you know you want to use the term "MTV Generation".

I don't know much about him, so can't comment on anything other than last night, but I thought he spoke very well.
  17. Cross posted with DadOf4, but basically, what he said.
  18. They are very rare. Not the norm at all. I just don't like comments (not so much here, but lots on social media) suggesting that all of a sudden London has gone to the dogs, and it never used to be like this. These things have always been rare, but they've always happened. There is no big sudden change.
  19. I suspect that in some cases, once the knife is pulled, a kid feels he has to go through with using it for fear of losing face and getting "disrespected".

I thought Burnham did well and that the tory woman made herself look very silly by repeatedly saying "but did you say this in a speech, yes or no", after Burnham had said what she wanted him to say about 5 times.
  21. Yeah I was thinking that last night. Everything is reported these days. All parents were sent a text, whereas a few years back some probably wouldn't have even heard for a day or two. And unless a victim died, the news probably wouldn't have reported it. I was saying to a former teacher of mine on FB earlier that I remember an incident in my school where a kid went for a teacher with a pair of scissors. Hardly anything was made of it, and he was back in lessons the next day (possibly even later that same day). Whereas now I think it would be a pretty big deal. Not sure what the rights and wrongs of that are, just an observation.
  22. I think what is super rare is for a stabbing to actually happen IN school.
  23. My cousin was saying yesterday that he remembers several incidents at William Penn, but he's early 50s, so a bit after you. This (from 2008) is quite interesting http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7502180.stm
