  2. does it? based on what?
  3. If you have an employer willing to let you work 4 days a week, good luck to you But if you are self employed and you scale back your hours then I'm sure someone else will do a similar job in your absence - work creation!
  4. I hear you Loz - but I would disagree that's the logical conclusion. I'm not saying we should continually lower the top earners so they earn the same as lower earners. But in extreme circumstances (and I would argue that is where we are at) I don't think it's on to say the wealthier are suffering as badly (or even more) than the poorly off. I'm not saying that's your point btw - but it seems to be the subtext of some posts
  5. So person A is taking home 120k and person B is taking home 20k? Which of those two individuals is better placed to contribute more to the tax take? Or, if the tax take is to be frozen and private enterprise is to step in, which of the individuals will suffer more from the cutbacks?
  6. ah yes , renaming waterloo - pesky EU eh? another myth bites the dust
  7. oooh you beat me to it Katie - was gonna suggest same thing today as well
  8. I don't think you can send pics (or any files) via PM. But even if you could it wouldn't solve the forum's bandwidth problem as they would still be stored on the server I'm not being a killjoy - if people want to share pics of whatever they like then knock yourselves out - but if you link the pics to a pic storage site it just solves all of the problems at the forum end but people can still share all the pics they want on here without being diverted to another site (and some of the pics no-one wants just as Carnell's above - sheesh!)
  9. The only thing about posting LOTS of pics is the space it takes up on the forum server, if they are uploaded from a posters local drive Especially if the pics are high quality, which takes up even more space We have seen our PM quotas reduced from thousands to hundreds due to lack of server space, as well as several forum collapses generally when Admin has tried to trim the database size So to prevent that I would suggest hosting the pics somewhere else (choose from the may flickr type spaces out there) and link to the pics in the thread that way, rather than uploading the files directly win:win - people get to display their pics and Admin doesn't have a broken server on his hands
  10. call him what you like, his behaviour warrants it. But not sure what needing glasses has to do with it you could call him a "Jewish, queer, bespectacled prig" and you would be on factual grounds - but you don't for a reason I suspect
  11. I thought that at the time too Although tbf, the old "2 wrongs don't make a right" maxim also sprung to mind
  12. oooh is Brendan back in East Dulwich?
  13. oh and without even following the link, my sympathy swings back because now he has people calling him "four-eyed" because... and get this, you will never believe it... HE WEARS GLASSES! come on taper - you are better than that
  14. other than that - "what Loz said"
  15. a Guardian-reading pedant writes: if you google Nadine Dorries frustrated you get this - heavy on the Mail, less so on the Guardian
  16. A LOT of planes whooshing overhead today
  17. I like that idea moos On balance I think I have been too willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I think I've just been wrong
  18. I had a HUMDINGER from someone a couple of weeks ago (from a real person, not some jerk/bot) I suspect it happens a lot at PM level unfortunately - don't think the forum software allows you to block senders?
  19. Toby Young accusing someone else of "galloping careerism"?? To quote yet another journo, "you couldn't make it up" I agree with those that say there is a general tone of mealy mouthedness, but i still think him pressing the reset button in the way he has is not a bad path to take Re-reading quids's review of him, it's actually pretty spot on. I don't think Hari will come back a great journalist, but as someone who has been caught doing wrong, I'm still impressed with the hands up (albeit with the reservations expressed by people on here)
  20. Well, he had re-emerged and you can't say much fairer than what he has said Starting from scratch
  21. Handbrake
  22. Jury out on that one But I'm siding with those who say "first weekend, give it a chance". I'll be down there shortly
  23. Matt sounds like I did when the plough was reincarnated... A happy local
  24. Matts posting history isn't huge but doesn't suggest a link. Im hearing good things about ivy house from several sources Do you know it's nick or are you just guessing?
