  1. Ouch Ouch ouch ouch Ouch
  2. Plus, if I have to take a 15 minute train to a chain as my nearest evening spot, I may as well live anywhere
  3. Was there recently otta. But it is what it is. Chainville. Better than ilford. But not much
  4. Not. A. Lot. To. Do In forest gate tho. I lived that way and you have to travel a loooong way of an evening
  5. Bit callous mick I wonder what, say, your mortgage is like compared to people buying a house now Of course north london and other areas are significantly more expensive but that's missing point a bit. If houses in an historically cheap part of town are out of reach for most people just saying "it's the market" doesn't solve anything
  6. Ann Totally agree re: EDLove Was in same position when we bought our flat in SE22. But that flat seemed about right for the job/income. These days I earn a lot more and couldn't even buy the same flat again. People are panicking and buying/upgrading because they think it's a ticket to print money. Not because they need to move necessarily. |So I think a hefty amount of the demand is artificial and is over leveraged. When rates rise/prices crash...
  7. "sell it for then people would be selling up in droves. It's not my opinion it's the opinion of everyone who is buying and everyone who is not selling." I now to no one in my respect of londonmix on here, but that statement? Hmmmmm That thinking could be applied to almost any pre-crash ever right?
  8. Why would he sign the petition if he didn't think the problem was getting worse? He is saying it disturbs him but, without saying "get over it", he is also saying it is what it is, it isn't getting worse so he get's on with his life and suggests others might be better advised to do the same
  9. It's close but having been to many tar barrel nights, the Lewes one sounds more intense. Full comparison come November!
  10. I always knew el pibe had a tv show in him
  11. no it won't(or not by itself anyway) - it will be snapped up by investors and the bubble will continue to inflate, excluding the majority
  12. If seaside isn't a MUST have, towns like Honiton and Ottery St mary are worth a look too
  13. to be fair, Devon is quite different to Cornwall (and that's to a grockle like me - to the locals its life and death stuff) I can easily imagine Cornwall being bleak in winter, but places like Exeter are something else entirely. 6 happy years there (well, excluding the divorces, breakups and money - but most of that had nowt to do with Exeter)
  14. it's the RC missions I always found hardest fair play to you for getting so far using touch controls tho!
  15. if you plan to work in Exeter, roads from dawlish are a pig in the morning Exmouth is ok but a bit stuck in the past (and showing it) (mrs Strafer lived there when she was younger) Sidmouth has a rep as an old folks place but I prefer it to Exmouth Exmouth does have a train station tho, so is much handier
  16. I don't mind them at all Otta, but DC was pretty specific in his dislike of them so was just warning him That said they aren't as cheap as they once were (used to be amazingly so) and the beer does give me a bit of a headache. But I still prefer them to most city watering holes ETA: for the ale drinker they offer pretty much nothing. Doesn't affect me so much but for many people it's a deal breaker
  17. Cheshire cheese another Sam smith tho
  18. slightly the wrong end for you, but Leather Lane for street food Kingsway itself is barren - better off heading a few yards into Covent Garden to Hawksmoor
  19. So it is going to be a school and that is a good thing right? So what's the problem with labour and their decision. It's irrelevant surely?
  20. I'm confused - what's the benefit of listing that carbuncle as a community asset?
  21. nor I suspect will it be pretty - but it should be gripping nonetheless
  22. a lot less bitching than where LadyN because it sounds to me like it's you who is bitching here The shops on Croxted Road are fine. As I said I like WD plenty enough. But the shops on Croxted Road - well, they are smaller and more spreadout aren't they? And if you head out of an evening your options are limited right? Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing - not at all. But "plenty going on" and a "beating heart" it ain't I'm not quite sure why you think that statement constitutes criticism in any way?
  23. "It didn't seem to have occured to her that we were looking for a place to live in not an investment." in a nutshell right there Everyone is viewing it as an investment market and not a residnetial market
  24. easy now LadyN I like WD plenty enough, but to say "a lot" going on is a bit overdefensive? The WDF has never ever been busy - it's traffic spikes coincided when people start threads sniping at ED or EDF and WD itself doesn't have a beating heart like LL or Rye Lane. And that's ok, that has pluses too. But "a lot going on"? Seems to be pushing it
