  1. Rhetorical question? In any case, yes http://m.pitchfork.com/news/52209-david-bowie-confirms-arcade-fire-reflektor-collaboration/
  2. "To play the role of a victim on a public forum is laughable." is that really true? And is it wise to listen to someone who "on a public forum" claims (more than once) that perfectly fine housing is becoming a prison? You might want to scale back the hyperbole
  3. A lot of reasonable (bordering on probable) financial forecasting from different people - and that's all well and good. But as we know, such analysis and foresight amounts to no more than a piece of fry seaweed in the bath as an indicator of what will happen when various "unknowns" are added into the mix. So from a planning perspective it makes far more sense to assume the worst (and by worst I'm with Mr Ben, rather than the more moderate fraction-of-a-percent-pa)
  4. I haven?t eaten there but have been in twice now and was surprised at a couple of things 1) Beer selection. Not a dodgy fizzy pop Kronenbourg/Stella/Fosters in sight. Great mix of interesting beers 2) Busy. First visit was a weekday and was comfortably busier than any time I had been in with previous incarnations. Second time was Sunday lunch when one would expect it to be busy. But it was well after ?peak? time (3:30ish) and there wasn?t a single seat to be had. Not one The interior is pretty much unchanged which is to be expected given it?s historical status ? and I like it so am pleased to see The menu looked solid in a comfort food kind of way so shame to hear it?s not quite working but overall my expectations were way exceeded.
  5. "Maybe inching up 0.25% a year over a period of several years." well, that was also the thinking people had back in the early 90s. I know times are different etc etc but I wouldn't be betting on such a gradual incline either
  6. "There are plenty new buyers now who've forgotten what 5-7% rates feel like...." This. Should be the front page of every newspaper, every day
  7. not necessarily cheaper but mortgage companies won't add that 4-6k season ticket onto the amount they will lend you if yuo decide to look in Forest Hill/East Dulwich
  8. I bootlegged that gig. Made a fortune
  9. remind you of anything?
  10. You can set it to top up with a five pound minimum, not twenty
  11. " You're assuming that everyone who uses public transport makes the same amount of journeys on a regular basis" I'm assuming no such thing. Why would you say that? If I thought I might, in my lifetime, have to make just one single journey on london transport its still a simple process But that's an outlier and not what anyone is talking about If you live in london you WILL be making journeys on some form of public transport. So just be informed and make a smart decision. Register a card an stop being wilfully obstructive
  12. ?3.80 is just a few bus journeys. Who isn't going to need to do that in london? Or the tube/train equivelant? I don't understand that argument at all
  13. Get an oyster Register it Set it to top up automatically online (you choose amount) No more faffing Around with newsagents, cash, machines. If it gets lost or stolen you can immediately block it and all money on it gets transferred to new card It is so immeasurably better and more convenient, anyone saying "it's a faff" is a fool to themselves.
  14. Straferjack unlikely to have house in london come December as well. Sorry
  15. Ditto The Road
  16. Who is defensive and uncomfortable? Who?
  17. Blimey Hickory, not been a good year for you has it? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1021586,1021586#msg-1021586 Hope you're ok

    Shale gas

Oh for sure renewables like wind aren't yet able to provide enough... But that will change. At the moment wind power feels like mobile phone tech in 1989

Coal finite, deep or no Wind, not so much Surely?

Decent article MM but largely defensive about arguments in America Main concern I have encountered in uk is one of scale. Can the pros outweigh the cons in a vastly smaller geographical space. Forget cons.. Can fracking generate anything like the positives seen in us? Energy bills going way down for example... Can anyone see that happening here?
  22. AM, it is possible to the..err.. Thrust of edcam's argument and still like/miss Huguenot
  23. Udt is my opinion. Historically admin has taken a "lets see" approach with returning sinners. But given the response times admin is able to provide these days, who knows
  24. should have been there from day one, no? there is a section called "about the forum" UDT starts a thread "about the forum" so.....
  25. Sheemy has been her before. Many times And that's the truth. You can dispute it if you like...
