  1. Thanks Pickle for your reply. I have new windows too so will look into the made to measure option.
  2. Hi, I am also interested in doing this to my windows at the back of my house. I was watching some YouTube clips and it looks like you need to stick it to your window and then use a sharp blade to cut down to fit your window exactly. Goodliz, Pickle - where you afraid that you might not cut it straight or marking the glass or window frame with the blade? Thanks.
  3. Hi, We are about to embark on a house renovation which means we will be moving out in three weeks' time to live with family and putting all our belongings into storage. We have two young children, live in a three bedroom house with a fair amount of stuff. My husband thinks we would have the removal company pack for us as it will be much easier and faster. I am on maternity leave at the moment so I feel I should do the packing and just have the removal company come in and move the boxes and furniture into storage. Am I creating unnecessary stress for myself? With the money saved we could have a nice weekend trip somewhere instead. What would you do or what did you do when you moved?
  4. Hi, I am thinking of laying Pergo laminate flooring in my home. I've read many positive reviews about Quickstep but unfortunately they don't have a shade that I like. Does anyone have any good/bad experience of this product that they could share? As I have two young children I am particularly interested in hearing how durable the flooring has been for you. Thanks!
  5. Thanks Mooncake. I will check it out. Where did you purchase your one from? Will see if there is a showroom that I can go to.
  6. That's good to hear TutorSE22 that the floor still looks great despite young kids and renting the place out. I wonder if it is to do with having solid oak floors rather than engineered wood floors? Thanks ACBP for the link. I will check out Mifkildea mentioned in the link. I am planning to visit Flooring Supplies in Croydon tomorrow. Any other good flooring shops worth visiting?
  7. Hi, I have been going back and forth about what flooring to use for my family home; laminate (Quickstep or Pergo) or engineered wood? I currently have laminate which after 10 years still looks great so had planned on using laminate again but a number of people (without children) have advised me against doing this, engineered wood looks better and feels better and ?a cheap floor cost the same to lay as an expensive floor?. I am concerned that my children (4yrs and 3mths) will damage the wooden floor and I know you can sand down them down but I think it is highly unlikely I will do this. The flooring will go in the ground floor open plan living room, dining area and kitchen. It will also go in the hallway and utility room. I thought it is not a good idea to have engineered wood in the kitchen or utility room but maybe I am wrong. Has anyone lived with both? Grateful to hear which one you preferred and why. Thanks!
  8. Hi, I am updating a family bathroom and will be replacing the extractor fan. If you have found the extractor fan in your bathroom to be reliable and efficient I would be grateful if you could share the make and model with me. Could you also let me know how noisy you have found it. Some models of an auto feature where they come on automatically depending on the humidity level. If you have this feature, have you found it to be useful? Any other features worth considering? Many thanks!
  9. Hi, I will be updating the family bathroom and would be grateful for any views and advice. Are porcelain tiles more suitable than natural stone such as slate or limestone? How about a rubber floor, does anyone have this in their bathroom? We plan to have underfloor heating. Don?t know if water or electric underfloor heating would be better in the bathroom. Lastly, if you can recommend any places to purchase tiles that would be great. Many thanks!
  10. Hi, I am thinking of laying engineered wood on the ground floor. It is an open plan living area so includes the hall way, living room, kitchen and dining area. Do you think it is a good idea? Do you have engineered wood flooring in your home? If so, did you find it resilient and suitable for a family home? Also, can you let me know where you purchased your flooring from. Grateful for your views. Thank you!
  11. Hi, Do you own a Hansgrophe Raindance select shower? Could you let me know if you like it and whether you use the 'select' button? I am thinking about buying one so grateful for your views on this product. Thanks.
  12. Thanks for the quick replies and bathroom stores to go to. Perhaps this is the cynical side of me but I don't completely trust what Sales people tell me. The product they are recommending could be the one that carries the best profit margin for them or they need to maintain a certain sales level for that supplier etc. As such I would be interested to hear good or bad experiences about the toilets and taps people have in their bathrooms. There is such a variation in price, I am wondering if paying extra does result in a more reliable and higher quality product?
  13. Hi, Do you own an energy monitor? I am thinking about buying one and was wondering if you found it useful to have? Thanks!
  14. Hi, I am planning to renovate my bathrooms and I am absolutely bewildered by the level of choice available. Are there any particular taps and toilet brands that are better than others? I would be really interested to hear which brands you have in your bathroom and whether you are happy with them. Thanks!
  15. Hi, I will be having new flooring for the living room and kitchen (it is an open plan floor). In terms of flooring I was initially going to have engineered wood (I will also have water underfloor heating installed) but while I was in John Lewis one of the advisors suggested Amtico for the floor as it is better with kids. Have you had any experience with Amtico, Karndean (which is better?) or are there any other equivalents worth considering? Thanks in advance.
  16. Thank you very much for your replies. You have pointed me in the right direction of where I can to go to next for more information.
  17. Hi, I have been reading about forest schools and love the idea and would like to my three year old daughter to one. Has anyone been to a forest school session and if so, would you mind sharing your thoughts and experience. Are there any in Southwark? Thanks!
  18. Great, thank you all! I will it a go.
  19. Hi, Just wondering where you normally take your car to be washed in ED, Peckham etc? I normally wash my car by hand but think it is probably better to get someone to do it so that it is done on a more regular basis. Many thanks!
