  1. Oh c@ck - looks like plan B for tomorrow.
  2. I moved to an Amex credit card as I was getting so frustrated with the Mastercard/Visa security screen that popped up every time I made an on-line purchase.
  3. Bleedin' hell. I hope that the there will be some cricket to watch on Saturday!
  4. Well, you say that Digital-Ron, but I think I could eat a Chihuahua.
  5. I fourth that nomination.
  6. The Bishop is OK during the day when it has a more chilled out feel. I like their Sunday lunches and they have a lovely dog.
  7. Liked the extra bin-hoops and seating at ED station Mr Jones!
  8. I went to college with Fat Boy Slim, when he was known by his given name, Quentin. I flew in a plane of the Queen's Flight, had a cup of tea in her china and picked up some marvelous gossip from the Plane's Steward.
  9. Doesnt the latter facilitate the use of the former?
  10. Any chance I could swing a "I cant leave Dulwich, armed police have sealed off the area" day off tomorrow? Back under the bed I think.
  11. I have temporarily crawled out from beneath my bed as the sky, as yet, has not fallen on us. I thought that the whole idea of re-organising the transport links was to relieve pressure on the central London stations; in this case London Bridge and Victoria? The London Overground (known to all as the East London Line Extension) will take people to transport nodes to the east and west of the centre, thus allowing folks heading to the City/Canary Wharf or points west to do so without needing to travel through these already congested central stations. Given that the ELLE has now been confirmed, it is inevitable that some existing or planned services will change as part of this re-wiring of the transport system. This was always the plan. The advantages for us is that we will at last be on the Underground map (albeit overground) and a wider spread of travel, the disadvantage is that we will lose the convenience of some direct services; BUT, how many of us actually work in Victoria or London Bridge? Some, but most just pass through. The alternative to this spreading of the routes into town is the destruction of Borough, its historic buildings and the Market as London Bridge is expanded.
  12. You're back then. hurrah.
  13. Calm down Alfie. This is East Dulwich not Nunhead, we simply slice Pimms-bound fruit with large knives. I can understand your paranoia living, as you do, Outre-Rye.
  14. Barry - its a Saturday, if you arent actually working, take a break, have a walk in the park, come and have a drink in the EDT, SO many people will buy you a beer :))
  15. Did you reward the nice young men in your customary fashion?
  16. It is the biggest thing in the sky but is very quiet, so they can sneak over without being noticed. A380
  17. Fat Duck Restaurant left over wines, to be fair.
  18. Emirates A380 has just flown over ED, massive thing and so quiet. Couldnt see the serial sadly :))
  19. Great evening everybody. Mockney, did Mrs Mockers get one of those huge Rocky Road Happy Birthday Ice-Creams delivered to the table with sparklers and cocktail umbrellas and plastic monkeys? I like to think she did ...
  20. Ah yes, the power of the coherent arguement supported by material from a well respected publication. On the sauce again Mr Nun?
  21. Will there be an opportunity to re-enact the Greenman ceremony? Also When you say May "Queen" .....
  22. Jeremy you are a genius. I could rent the spare room out and then also stay and enjoy the sport.
  23. As it is ED is 12 minutes by train to London Bridge and then Jubilee Line straight to Stratford. With the London Overground there will then also be a direct link from either Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill to Canada Water and then onto the Jubilee line. We are close to Stratford than the West End. Reports are that there will be alot of people looking for a place to stay and Hotels will be hugely expensive and booked up in advance.
  24. Anybody else thinking of renting their homes out for the Olympics? As long as the ELLE/London Overground is completed on time, ED should be ideally placed to attract visitors. Personally, I am not that bothered about watching the sport, perhaps the Beach Volleyball. So could be a nice little earner and the opportunity to go on holiday and miss the traffic chaos, security scares and general arsing about.
  25. Barry, I hope you are off over the Bank Holiday - you deserve a rest. Good man you.
