  1. "Ethnolic" - wassat? "Meths-nolic" perhaps, always did prefer the blue to the white. Not in a party political way you understand.
  2. On the radio this morning I heard a Downing Street spokes-person say: "The Prime-Minister has been and always will be - Crystal Clear". You have been outed Crystal Clear aka Tony Blair. So. share with Forum - when will you resign? We'll keep it a secret, honest.
  3. I went to the map exhibition. So many of the very familiar street names in Packham were there hundreds of years ago, albeit in a very rural context. Most of Peckham and ED were "salad gardens", Peckham was a rural village and ED didnt seem to exist as such. Goose Green was Goose Green, but I suspect it was the gathering point for flocks of geese driven to London from out-lying farms.
  4. I am off to the South Staffs for a weekend of ruralality - tonight!
  5. Virtuously?
  6. I think that an Asses Milk cafe in ED is fantastic. We could start with a tent at the Spring Fair - milk coming diretly from Mrs Dobbin into the cup, marvellous. An asses milk Latte is BOUND to go down well in these parts.
  7. Perhaps a pictorial sign of a dog pooing would meet all linguistic needs?
  8. This is great! Dont forget to mention the Forum in the articles you lovely journalists. Let us bathe in the reflected glow of the WI as it all seemed to come together here.
  9. Yup - its is still on. I will toddle down to the Clock and let them know that a group of some 20 Forumites will descend on a mission to boost their profits.
  10. The aftermath of the game in our office was a joy. One colleague is an utter Liverpool fan and always heads to Anfield with her season ticket. She bounced this morning this morning, having got home at 3am, having sung all the way down the M6; she was cheerful, but restrained. Our Chelsea fan was very bitter, BUT as he couldnt claim that "we woz robbed" he had to limit his ire to a long whinge about - the bias of the ITV commentary! This went all morning and into the afternoon - by which time any symathy that we had for him had long gone. Dont give a monkeys myself, I was born in Wolverhampton and so football as never been a source of excitement in my life.
  11. *Well done Polly, but, given that your entertaining contributions to the EDF were often stimulated by the utter tedium of your old job - will we hear less of you in the new?:(* *Nontheless, snaffles glass of champers to prepare for a hot date with a tall, blonde, Hungarian lass - wish me luck!!*
  12. *D-M you could apply for a job there! Enjoy your favourite coffees for free and get paid.* * I am sure Ana could look after the kids. I still have a lactating donkey - this could be an opportunity for a new range of asses milk based coffees that we could introduce to Starbies*
  13. *Ambles in after a long absence. Waves to all and sundry and sinks into fave chair with a Vente Latte from Starbucks* *Having not had the opportunity to look properly at the forum for a week or so, I couldnt help noticing that it seems to have grown like Topsy - So may new names posting and a whole branch of the WI has sprung up. Must be the lovely Spring weather* *Greetings to the old stagers and newbies one and all*
  14. *It is always good to get a big job out of the way* *Settles in favourite chair, wiggles proboscis and causes a really good Bloody Mary to appear* *Checks proboscis and is assured that it doesnt need lancing* *Wonders where Mark took Brooke? and did the jeans to do there worse*
  15. I like this thread. Good news indeed. I trust the lecture was delivered with much finger wagging? Little tinker.
  16. When I lived near the Ivanhoe the pub was little used by the nice middle class people because it was a dump and full of "rough people". There was then news that it was to be sold as flats. The reaction of the nice middle class people? "Oh my god more parking problems!". I told one of the nice middle class people about the change of plans and the good reports of the place - the response? - "I'm still not going in there, it was always a dump". You really cannot win. I do see myself as middle-class however I like to think that most of the time I do not have my head up my *rse.
  17. Ray who owns the Mirash He was great with my Mum, always waves when I walk past and we had a great chat this afternoon. Nice guy.
  18. How about a suburb of 'Frisco? That would be cool.
  19. The best burger joint EVER was a Wimpy in a village called Milford near Stafford. Wimpy had a small white shed next to a big pub. Two ladies of a cetain age cooked the burger on a hot plate before your very eyes. Many, many, many years ago when I was in my late teens in my home town of Cannock there no after-pub eateries (except a place that sold those tinned burgers that were heated in boiling water). So we used to pile into a clapped out Morris Marina and head for Milford. It was still there a couple of years ago and as I was passing I had to have a cheeseburer. Oh lordy, they were as good as ever. So, if you ever find yourself in the area. Drop in to Milford, they have lovely tree covered hills and nice pub and a fantastic Wimpy. Of course there was also Uncle Sams in Brighton, but that is another story.
  20. *Stands at window and observes Mark (wearing green tights, a green cap with feather and pixie boots) fly off into the setting sun with the lovely Brooke. It has to be said that Brooke looked a little wild-eyed. I wonder if she has a problem with heights?* *Wiggles nose and a nice glass of Shiraz appears; Rougemont, nothing too posh, just nice* *I like this nose wiggling, I believe I have the proboscis for it*
  21. "Looks like Huguenot has upset his jeans again everyone; and Bagpuss seems to have a mild case of rabies" *Usual day in the quiet room then* *Wiggles nose and Brooke Shields appears - introduces her to Mark*
  22. Is this a clever way of flushing out the local peeping toms?
  23. Does look like the 11th. Keef - wont your friend have more birthdays? :))
  24. *ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ* *ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ- wa, wa, whatsthatbeepin, huh?* *Oooh chorizo - num-nums, Gracias Pol*
  25. Arent we all bitter and twisted today.. We keep coming back to this theme - old versus new, good or bad etc etc, ad nauseum. Its somewhat tedious.
