My favourite visit to Parkhead was back in '88 when they won the league in their centenary year, so there was a real party atmosphere. Celtic were playing Dundee, who only brought a couple of hundred fans with them. Despite their small numbers, with segregation there were large gaps of empty terracing, meaning the official capacity that day was supposed to be only around 50,000+. But with thousands more Celtic fans outside wanting to get in, the police eventually told the Dundee fans that they had to leave for safety concerns. After jeering them as they left, the away end soon filled up with Celtic fans. The official attendance for that game was given as the ground capacity of 60,800, but there must have been about 70-75,000 in the ground by kick-off time, total sardine time but a fantastic atmosphere.
