  5. In my stuuuudent days in Jockland one of my flatmates used to go on about his local team St Mirren having beaten Barca, not sure how 'competitive' the match was though...
  6. Kiss Me Quick - Brendan Bowyer, never heard of it but spent 6 weeks at the top...close shave though, if I'd been born a few weeks later it would've been You'll Never Walk Alone - Gerry and the Pacemakers...::o
  7. I think a lot of L'Arse's problems stem from David Dein leaving. He was and is still a close friend of Wenger and sorted out all the transfer wheeling and dealing. Not sure who sorts that out now. Any of the top four teams are capable of beating each other with their strongest team, it's when injuries and suspensions kick in that the clubs with the best in depth squad do better, and has been L'Arse's downfall in recent seasons. Next year Citeh will also be challenging along with Villa and Everton, meaning Champions League qualification will get even tougher.

  12. Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
  13. Recalling the classic 70's sitcom Porridge , 'Nark' was(is?) often used as slang for a police/prison warder informer; you can also be 'narked off' - in a bad mood...
  14. The referee had a 'mare. That he's Norwegian is irrelevant, but he did look out of his depth and the porker couldn't keep up with the speed of the game. It wasn't a sending off (that should shut up the conspiracy theorists), but there were 2 clear penalties for Chelski. It's hard not to snigger (stop it Muttley!) at Chelski's misfortune, particularly Drogba, and the sight of John Terry about to burst into tears again brought back happy memories, but if I was waking up as a Chelski fan this morning I'd be feeling pretty hard done by... http://images.bcdb.com/gallery/d/1098-2/muttley_laugh.jpg
  15. Hmmm, not sure about that Matthew, I thought Sky had microphones dotted around the pitch perimeter to pick up the crowd not where their commentators sit, however agree that radio commentators and their microphones are usually in the 'gods', I know at OT they sit near the away fans so you can always hear the away fans clearly on the radio commentry...
  16. Sorry Matthew, but since the Kop went all-seater it's a pale shadow of its former self, especially YNWA, clubs today compensate by trying to stage manage atmospheres in grounds, take last night at the Emirates with the flags, leave that sort of thing to the Chelski's of this world...

  18. That's unanimous then...Speech! Speech!...
  19. ...it's about 3 teams, that's worse!...;-) ...I always feel sorry for the players who don't have a song, e.g. Michael Carrick
  20. You beat me to it Mick, Celtic Park singing YNWA is an awesome sight, when I watched Celtic I used to keep my fingers crossed behind my back when it was sung...;-)

I'm sure Fergie has looked > into having him de-Scoused. Don't mock it's possible, I think it's called electro-shock aversion therapy, he get's a shock everytime he attempts to put on a shell suit...

Annasfield Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You have to admit though that Liverpool are one of > the only teams who tend not to sing about > teams/players they're not playing. Everytime I've seen 'pool on the box recently the fans have sung that old school classic 'We hate Nott'm Forest...' I think it's all come about because of the amount of footy that's now on TV, any excuse to have a dig at rivals knowing that they're watching...
  23. Anna, yes he's a Scouser, but he's not a Liverpool supporting Scouser, big difference...a bit like your lot when you refer to us as Mancs, I don't think you have Citeh fans in mind...some of my best friends are Scousers I'll have you know ;-)
  24. matthew123 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What about YNWA? ...Celtic fans will always contest they sang it first. A story went around a few years back that it was first sung at Old Trafford as a tribute to the victims and survivors of the Munich air crash, as it came from the American musical Carousel, a big hit at that time...I'm not really bothered, Liverpool are welcome to it, far too maudling for my tastes...
