That was exactly what I was about to say re. Social Media. I'm a lifelong Labour voter and consider myself left of centre, but I will never vote for Labour while he's leader...

Fireworks after the Paris Attacks... Really?
red devil replied to littlethistle's topic in The Lounge
What Jah said. I was being kind earlier, trying to reason, but like Otta I now suspect a bit of trolling going on here. The good citizens of Clapham wouldn't get up to this sort of thing, would they littlethistle?... -

With her cover about to be blown, DJKQ quickly dons a false beard for the quintessential Geography teacher look for her latest business venture, BB Tours... ''On Day 3 of our Machu Picchu tour we will stop off here for refreshments.'' said DJ in her usual self-assured 'I know the difference' manner. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3100/3168899471_c428742076.jpg ''Fook! We signed up for the 'Vikings In Scandinavia Tour', this 'bloke' doesn't know his arse from his Kosovo'' exclaimed a worried looking enroller...

What does that 'definition' actually mean in legal terms Mick? Is it just some sort of edict/directive, or is it legally binding in some way?...

Fireworks after the Paris Attacks... Really?
red devil replied to littlethistle's topic in The Lounge
Every year, a few weeks before and after Bonfire night, fireworks are regularly let off, probably no more than hijinks from youngsters. The people who died in Paris were mainly young adults, out enjoying themselves, I'm sure they wouldn't want people to stop doing that, life has to go on otherwise the terrorists have won... -
Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The real problem of racism ? > Since when did the English refer to the Irish as > white middle class Europeans > > No blacks > No dogs > No Irish > > In that order To be fair Mick that was a long time ago, things have moved on a lot since then, we even like Louis Walsh. And I wouldn't give the order too much significance, probably written alphabetically rather than prejudicially. And I don't agree including nationality as a form of racism as lots of races can make up a nation, but having said that, there is a difference between calling someone a ''lazy cunt'' and a ''lazy Irish cunt'' whilst thumping them...context, innit.

I think what you're describing happened in Bosnia, not Kosovo, and it happened several years before NATO began strategically bombing Serb targets in respect of the Kosovo conflict. This bombing definitely impacted on the Serbs and brought about an end to the conflict. Here's a timeline of events... http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/kosovo/etc/cron.html

That's not the same as condemning > what did happen. I'd have liked to have seen him > opn trial in this country (not U.S.). True, there's nothing wrong in saying that, but it reeks of naivety and stating the bleedin' obvious, and begs the question why say it in the first place. Of course in an ideal world 'Jihadi John' would've been captured and gone on trial, but how likely was that ever going to happen? Pretty much zilch. As well as the difficulties of trying to get someone on the ground to capture him, you're dealing with people who have a twisted mindset. As we saw last night at the Paris concert venue, they would rather blow themselves up than be captured. Blah Blah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What he was expressing, was a view on what is achieved by this > kind of assassination. So what has been achieved? > Absolutely nothing, bar one pain free death of an > easily replaced ISIS executioner. It's true that 'JJ' was an 'executioner' who has probably already been replaced, but he had also become a recruiting 'poster boy' for IS because of his background. So stopping that in itself is an achievement. Not sure why you're making a correlation between your perceived lack of achievement and his pain free death. Would it have been more of an achievement if he had suffered a long slow painful death? If so, we're getting very Biblical...

This. Before the arrival of East European tradesmen, a lot of them highly skilled, you had British tradesmen taking the proverbial with the extortionate prices they charged, that's how the Harry Enfield 'Loadsamoney' character came about, they were creaming it in. Nowadays prices are indeed reasonable. The construction industry has always used immigrant labour, and will continue to do so... -
