  1. I never worry when I'm pulled over, I have tax, insurance, mot, and own the car, and I'm not "right at it". I felt rather flattered that possibly I was up to something, sigh, those were the days. It was only a couple of minutes out of my day then I was told to continue my journey, but they thought I was a dodgy driver working for a dodgy club.
  2. I was pulled over at 6.30am one Sunday morning and asked where I was going and where was I from, I am in a "white" car, with white skin, white hair and teeth. By a black officer too, was he racist do you think?
  3. My daughters, amongst many others use "can I get" from many US soaps, now used to speak to waitresses, when 'may I have' is the forgotten/ignored/correct version, you cannot get anything. Apologies to northlondoner!
  4. I have a miniature pond for the birds which is regularly visited, though it gets foul looking quite quickly, so I use a free disposable. When I buy produce from the supermarket some come wrapped in plastic trays and they are flat open and hold enough water for them to drink from or bathe in. I usually put a stone protruding above the water line to hold down the tray when it's blustery, plus they can perch on it to drink. When it becomes revolting with green algy I exchange it for the next tray that comes along, I never leave them without even if it is revolting to look at. Recycling for wild life.
  5. You have to decide HonaloochieB you must not stir the passions of many fine women but only one unless you are a follower of the mormon church! Just get a room!
  6. I think all tattoo's should be chosen by your spouse, they are the ones who will see it most.
  7. "Dry martini shaken not stirred" made popular by James Bond from the first bond movie Dr No. Black velvet .....cider and mackeson ..........or champagne and guinness Whiskey mack? my brother drank it and I never knew what was in it.
  8. It's my first year of having a blackberry and very glad it's a thornless too, but the fruits are as big as a man's thumb.
  9. They seem to have become fashionable in recent years, then, when the fashion changes,.......doh!
  10. swizz when you have been cheated somehow 'what a swizz' Gertcha I think it means 'get out of it' or 'come off it' backo'myhand is a thump across the head Phrases that have disappeared..... We have plenty of well paid jobs here! We are awash with honest and straight forward solicitors who do not overcharge at ?550 per hour. We have the best politicians money can buy who never fiddle their expenses.
  11. We have finally had a drop of rain, sadly it is only a drop, it barely wetted the ground so we need a good deal more to help the fruits and veg along and the sooner the better.
  12. Yep! and rolled up my trouser leg too.
  13. Woods is being divorced which is a surprise, and anyone knows that concentration is all important, divorce detracts and prevents total concentration. I think other golfers will play better too, knowing that Woods is not in pole position. I hope his wife gets paid out like she can dish it out, she will be a very wealthy woman if she does.

    Livid....

You do not have to lean very heavily on any fence before the whole lot goes over, and my guess is the cost for renewal would be paid by New Bhoy not the aggressive louts. If they had been asked to move off someone's property they should have moved and without any abusive language and violent acts. I see no reason for New Bhoy to receive criticism, they should not have been there end of............
  15. They really know how to build a good quality, well padded nest those pigeons. Harvesting the blackcurrants today so jam making is imminent. I was away at the weekend so everything has drooped missing their ration of water.
  16. PGC wrote:- Donovan? As in haunting, profound, heart-wringing? "First there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is." Well yes, I thought he was worthy of a mention if only because of 'Colours' even though he was a drug imbibing 'head'. Chuck Berry is responsible for many big hits over a lifetime Johnny B Good and Roll over Beethoven, to name but a few.
  17. Nobody mentioned Donovan.
  18. Tattoos were always considered to be a 'branding' mark which one assumed from afar especially on the beach, were the worst of people. It is not true they are not the worst, they just have suspect taste in what they do to their bodies. My eldest daughter had been considering one for some months, when my sister explained that most of her time spent working for the NHS was involved in removing unsightly and ill thought out tattoos on the bodies of people who new better but wilfully went ahead and did it anyway. There are many thousands who would be rid of them if they had a magic wand. Apparently the removal of them is costly and painful, and you can always tell where the procedure took place. I hope and pray my daughters do not venture any further than the youngest one, having a piercing done at the back of her neck waiting to go sceptic. I find them pointless, hideous, and extremely permanent.
  19. Feel free to come and see mine, built three years ago. It's as big as a garage and the coolest place I have, in this weather.
  20. Buy a bike until the payout arrives....
  21. Saw a Bullfinch in my garden today ! First spotting in 18 years anyone else seen one? wrote chichirara. I love their looks they are a very pretty bird, but anyone with fruit trees doesn't, as they attack the buds of the forthcoming fruits which can seriously damage your crop. They are hunted by farmers in the orchards of Kent, or used to be.
  22. The point of all excercise is to get fitter and feel better Narny. Now get back in that wardrobe........
  23. Dear Dulwich Gardening, I have a victoria plum tree which does provide some fruit but is rather cyclical, the leaves look as though they have been through a washing machine and it's left a soapy coating. This blessed tree which I inherited with the purchase has never looked healthy, even though I prune, feed, and water regularly, does anyone on your team know the solution to making it healthy? Is it a lost cause, should it be replaced, and if so which variety of plum would you recommend for this area and why?
  24. "Owwwww" why didn't I see it, I wanted to see it, but I didn't know until now, I never see these exciting things, an' it's not fair! One risky sport.
  25. I doubt whether the parents know what their offspring are up to when they are out of sight of prying adult eyes.
