  1. Those traffic lights cause unnecessary hold ups which creates tail-backs, and it seemed better and easier prior to the lights installation, the place seems full of traffic now. The vehicles from the side streets was and still is minimal, apart from the trucks which really are temporary unlike the traffic lights. I would vote for a return to the original system and replace the traffic lights with pedestrian lights.
  2. The weather has changed recently and we have had around eight inches of rainfall this month. When it rains it seems more like a tropical delivery as we have had an inch or two per shower, when I was young it would drizzle for hours and sometimes days, but now it pours and it is all over in a couple of hours. One thing remains unchanged though, it always rains most at bank holidays and annual vacations. I know my apples are bigger as the rain has swelled them to giant size. The tomatoes are reaping the benefit too. On the downside the back door is swollen and now sticks in the frame, so I have to lift and wrench open it.
  3. I have just voted for Hoovering the roof the second. As the first was such a success I believe one never changes a winning team, and it leads the way for more of the same opportunities in the future. Well done you ED scribes.
  4. Yeah no, ......used as a partial reply to a question.
  5. I would if I had a partner, honest!

    Sloe News Day

I fear you have left it too late for this year, they must all be picked this late in the season.
  7. A buddies four year old son insists on pointing at muslim women (in the garb which has a "letterbox" to look through) and saying loudly 'I CAN SEE YOU'!
  8. I heard on the radio that Mrs Cameron has gone into labour. Geddit!
  9. Take a can of wd40 next time and give the moving parts and joints a spray, if the machine is still tough, then it's your faculties.

    They lie!!

Buy a bicycle and stuff the insurance thieves and rob dogs.
  11. Had a dozen tomatoes today varying shades of pink skin so they are now indoors to ripen. They are the Gardeners Delight variety which are very sweet, and have thin skin.
  12. Slim esel. San Isal......most will be too young to know it is a bog roll without absorption.
  13. I don't know about the similarities with Versailles, but the pavilion is definitely worth the time and trouble. There used to be some great secondhand book shops and stuff, in the 'lanes' but have not been for many years.
  14. I have always admired the thrift ethic in a woman Kel:))
  15. See the Pavilion.
  16. Chener books wrote:- Our local estate agents are the experts and will advise you which properties not to buy. It would be more accurate to say they could advise you, the facts are they may indeed know which ones to recommend but when their commission is at stake they will tell you anything to suit them and their percentage.
  17. As this little island is so heavily populated, would it be a good idea to tax future incomers from all sources?
  18. A-plan. Scott Feltham. (01420 593493) This was provided some months ago by Marmora Man who has had similar problems with his se22 postcode.
  19. Plums have been fewer this year but now they have ripened they are delicious straight from the tree. It is an old victoria plum and is due for the chop, I plan to replace it with a plum called 'Opal' which is earlier to deliver and according to the books better flavoured and more reliable cropping. The victoria I inherited tends to crop in 3 year cycles.
  20. Provided you 'pick up' after it:)
  21. Bagels always feel a bit stiff of texture, and slightly stale somehow.
  22. There are fewer opportunities in business these days but estate agents are frequently 'independants' and therefore a reasonable chance of survival. More chance than a corn chandler, a candlestick maker, or a gas-mantel manufacturer that is.
  23. It is well known that burglary and mugging figures rise every summer holiday. Parents out at work, kids in bed most of the day, result too much energy and freedom at bed time.
  24. I can understand how banks are doing well, they've increased their charges. I sent $800 to Taiwan from my bank to their bank and it cost ?38 I asked how were they delivering it, by ox cart? Sending money electronically at the flick of a switch is mighty costly these days.
