I'm in the park most days and fortunately it's rare to see irresponsible dog owners there. wrote ClareC. I am in the park once a fortnight and I see dangerous dogs and their obnoxious owners all too regularly. bawdy-nan wrote:-I'd hate to see all dogs on leads in the park. I agree all dogs need to run, but I am all for keeping me and the general public safe, so dogs away from their home in a public place weighing more than 5lbs or 2.5 kilo's should be muzzled.

First day of the new Dulwich Swimming Pool
SteveT replied to Weegee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Pulse offers 3 swimming sessions to the over 60's free of charge, only when you swim during those 3 sessions stated. I asked one of the counter staff about these over 60's classes, and she said "yes you have to be a member". Membership is of course several hundred pounds per annum. Customers are treated as the enemy by many of the counter staff, only one working whilst two others look on and chatter amongst themselves, whilst remaining totally oblivious to how long the queue is. To get back on topic, I shall be trying out the new pool this week. -

The biggest problem is charging lurkers, a mere ?2 per lurker, per year, would keep the adminstrative staff in clover. Come on you lurkers, you know it's worth it!

Has posting on this forum hindered your employment prospects?
SteveT replied to Axeman's topic in The Lounge
I am self employed so a resounding NO! I would not have spent much time on here (or somewhere similar) in the nineties as I was too busy. -
:)) thanks for the laugh HAL.

I will call in today for one, thanks for that Cassius. -
Squirrels have been visiting to clear up any nuts off the hazel. One of the local neighbourhood moggies (all white background with numerous black splashes) has fun stalking a mouse which has been feeding at one of the birds peanut holders. The sparrows drive mousey off double quick, as they will not tolerate him feeding at their table, so he only returns to feed when it is quiet.

First day of the new Dulwich Swimming Pool
SteveT replied to Weegee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I dropped in yesterday to get a timetable and guess what, they hadn't any on display and there was a huge queue of mums and buggies so I left without one. I don't suppose the fusion management had thought that when it opened after years of closure anyone would need a time-table on opening week. -
I started with a Mac and now I'm with PC. The dell pc I have is faster than any mac I ever had and I used to buy their top of the range model every few years. Filemaker is the software I use most so I transferred that to my dell.

Over population - should births be taxed?

Why do the immigrants appear to flood in here? Why do we have a seemingly open door policy? Would it not be wiser to encourage a closed door policy, assuming that all the immigrants would be employed working for the betterment of their own countries? -
Flat White (New Zealanders have moved to East Dulwich?)
SteveT replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I rather like the NZ in fact some of my best friends are Kiwi's. They have moved in to ED to remind them of home, with empty white sanded beaches, loads of wide open spaces, and trout in every stream. -
Apparently a lot of thought was given to the EDG / LL junction, but without a conclusion. Perhaps make LL one way and Barry rd one way.

Compared to brixton and peckham, yes, but that is not saying much. Cheers for pointing out my poor spelling, i guess it further marks me out as ignorant and uncultured for not being part of the east dulwich dream world no? wrote eater81. This begs the question where would you prefer to live eater81?

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?

Why not plant fruit trees, then the neighbourhood would benefit from the produce. -

A friend with a farm lost 70 ducks and hens to foxes in one year, a large loss for a small-holder farmer so he traps them with baited traps (with the drop down flap door at one end) and then shoots them. Another friend had trouble with grey squirrels, he trapped them and then released them in the country which he later discovered was illegal, so he bought an airgun and now shoots them when trapped. I would also be in favour of magpies being culled as they attack and rob nests of the songbirds, but as the role of game-keepers reduces their numbers are no longer kept in check.

Karl Marx was right then, capitalism relies on continuous growth, which is unsustainable as we cannot feed and water the population we have. Should future population be controlled by central government? and if so, when should it start?

For wasting lots of stress free hours dominoes would be my choice, if it is good enough for south american miners trapped a million miles from the surface, it's good enough for me.

Oh, how appalling ( but I'll look anyway ) wrote woof! I thought it had been done quite professionally, almost as if it belonged there. I'm sure it expresses a view which many patrons of that bank feel, when they read on their statements the costs of the banks extortionate charges. Bar studs!
