Does anyone know when the contents of the large and small bins will be collected separately. I ask because last week my small bin was missed, not great in hot weather, so I now put everything into the large bin as it all goes together anyway.

Just found an excellent little Zero Waste shop in Herne Hill, just opened, 19a Half Moon Lane by the 37 bus stop, well worth a visit.

My husband and I arrived on 29th June afternoon from France at St Pancras very tired, it was that very hot day, and a black cab brought us all the way home to Dulwich, no problem, we were very grateful as we had anticipated having to settle for London Bridge. Maybe the driver took pity on us as we are over 80!

to be fair to the Estate, they do seem to accept the need for a convenience store in the village and still expect the arrival of such a store by ?September. I suspect that the site at number 88 could more easily have been let to yet another coffee shop and am relieved that a convenience store is still planned. Meanwhile newspapers can be ordered and delivered by the Red Apple store opposite the Library, they are very efficient [papers come early ] and reliable.

I understand from the council that the redistribution bins has now started but is being done area by area to save costs, sounds sensible.

I received an email yesterday assuring me that the stickers will be sent in the post this week, which means that the small brown bins for kitchen waste will arrive separately.

Thank you for setting out this problem much more clearly than I did a few posts ago. I also occasionally have too much for my brown bin and add in a paper sack or two. It would be ridiculous, and bad economics, to send for a special collection just for the occasional sack, and these surely should be collected with the general brown bin collection as one will have paid for the paper sacks anyway.

So if you have paid up for your large brown bin it will be emptied if the lid is closed. Fine so far. And if you occasionally have extra garden stuff, you can use the purchased paper sacks? but cannot leave them with the brown bin to be taken away when the brown bin is emptied, but you have to arrange for a separate collection, even if only one sack? Is this correct? Sounds silly, surely if the sacks are already paid for they should be taken away when the bins are emptied. But perhaps I have misunderstood.

Just caught up with all this; someone asked what did we do before the brown bins --- at one time I used to have to put garden rubbish in black plastic bags and take it to the tip where it went in with general landfill. We have moved on, thank goodness, and as some people do not have to dispose of garden rubbish it seems entirely reasonably that I should pay extra for this service.

Could we have further information about the 'reliable source' please, sounds like a wind up to me,

the cost of visitors parking sounds alarming, but of course it can usually be avoided. I try to visit friends and family outside the restricted time, on this basis I have rarely used a visitor's permit.

I find the hostility to the idea of a CPZ hard to understand. I lived in an area of Clapham a few years ago and when a CPZ was introduced it made the life of residents so much easier, the benefit of being able to park near my house far outweighed the restrictions. I was, before the scheme was introduced, very apprehensive and wish to reassure those who are so opposed to the idea. All you usually need is a minimal restricted time, for example two hours in the middle of the day, to transform very much for the better, the parking for residents.

I see that the Lib Dem candidate for Dulwich and West Norwood is called Gail Kent but I subscribe to neither twitter or face-book so cannot access her on either of these. I have found a web site which lists Lib Dem candidates but she does not appear on it. Does anyone know how one can find out about her?

Sorry that jaywalker had a bad experience in Kennington, but my experience of a CPZ which was introduced to an area of Clapham where I used to live was entirely different. Before the scheme it was very difficult to park anywhere convenient, I often had to walk home from an adjoining road. After the scheme was set up I found that there were far more spaces and I could usually park somewhere near my home. A well designed scheme can make life much easier for residents and I do not understand why so many people are hostile to the idea. with so many cars around surely space has to be rationed to be fair to all.

There was a similar entry in an adjoining road recently, again the intruder alarm drove the culprit away. this was at 9.30 in the evening when the owners were out. Difficult to know what to do, these doors, often the original ones, seem to be vulnerable.

5 bags would be fine, they just seem to be without any bags at all when I try for them. Hopefully it is just a supply problem with the manufacturers.

James, I have noticed that the brown paper sacks for extra garden refuse usually available in libraries are in short supply. As we are coming into the season for garden clearance, please would you confirm that there is no plan to phase these bags out. I would be happy to pay for them, but do hope that they will be available in the future, it is difficult to dispose of all the year's growth in the garden otherwise if you do not have transport.

Lots of places to buy deli type food in Lordship Lane, but there is nowhere to buy any sewing kit, [ the fabric shop down towards the Library only sells ribbon, not cotton etc.] this new shop really should be a useful addition to Lordship Lane shops.

does anyone know anything about the new craft shop which looks to be opening in Lordship Lane opposite Cafe Nero?

the fish section of the new Poisson de Mer deli in Dulwich Village is now open --- good looking fish and a delightful owner who sadly has had months of problems with his shop fittings. Worth a visit.

My point is that the parking problem is spreading into the surrounding areas of the village anyway, a measure like a double yellow line in Gallery Road might be deemed necessary for safety reasons, but this decision should only be taken after a consideration of parking in other roads. If you start regulating parking in the village there would be a 'knock-on' effect which could not be ignored. I know that people dread a CPZ, but I have lived in an area where, after much discussion, one was introduced, and it did result in a reasonable balance between the interests of residents and visitors.

Sadly this is only one example of how parking is becoming more and more difficult in the village area. Putting a double yellow line along one side of Gallery Road will only spread the parking problem elsewhere locally. Plans are being considered to restrict some of the parking in the village proper to one hour only as a help to the shops. This is going to drive the cars which usually occupy these spaces all day, further out along the local side roads as well as Gallery Road. Maybe there should be a consultation about a Controlled Parking Zone in the whole area, this seems to me the only way to apportion space reasonably between conflicting interests.

Thanks Sue, for some unknown reason my thread was swiftly moved to the lounge, so it was clever of you to pick it up. I missed a Monday brown bin collection and I have made two phone calls and one report on line, [ as well as an unacknowledged email to the relevant department ] I have pretty well given up and hope not to be missed next Monday. Meanwhile I am leaving my bin on the pavement just in case they do turn up tomorrow ---- I do have a few brown bags but the local foxes are prone to dismantle them in the night, which is even more antisocial than having my bin on the pavement all the time. Very annoying as I had planned to clear the garden a bit at the weekend.
