  1. H&M, Topshop, New Look, GAP, Mothercare - I found good maternity gear at all those shops. GAP maternity jeans were the best. I also bought a couple of things from Pretty Pregnant on North Cross Rd. The quality was not all that frankly - I'd stick to the high street. I just took the 176 to Oxford Circus and hit GAP, Topshop and H&M (Regent St branch does maternity). Mamas and Papas is also on Regent St and they had some lovely maternity clothes. And of course Bravissimo on Margaret Street for maternity bras for v big boobs.
  2. Yes, I took part in the trial end of 08/early 09. I wasn't prescribed progesterone (17mm). My experience of the trial was very positive - the research staff were wonderful and as this was my first baby I felt very reassured having a full set of scans done every four weeks. All my appointments related to the study were with the research doctors so I didn't have to endure long stints in the waiting room. My first thought when I was asked to take part was 'no way'. It took me a couple of weeks to make up my mind. In the end I decided that they really needed women like me to take part, and I felt comfortable with the study process and people involved, so why not. No regrets, in fact I had forgotten about it until reading this post! If you want more details feel free to PM me.
  3. Did someone say Florence & the Machine are playing at the Uplands?
  4. Hi, does anyone know what happened there this afternoon?

  6. Hi Looking for advice and tips on weaning from breast to formula. I will be returning to full time work shortly and will have a window of about 3 weeks to wean my son from breast to bottle for his daytime feeds. This means he will have been fully breastfed for the recommended six months, and I'm hoping to continue bf early morning and evenings. I've been looking around on the web and have even consulted (eek) GF and it seems that I should allow 5-7 days to drop a feed. Does anyone have any real life experience of doing this stuff and how did you do it? GF recommends cutting bf time down by 5 minutes a day and topping up with formula until he is taking a full bottle feed. My son has always been a 10-15 minute guzzler so he'd be weaned within a couple of days. Sounds too easy?! I should say he's also never had formula, so there's probably a chance he's going to reject the taste? I have already been through blocked ducts/mastitis once at the beginning of bf so really want to try and avoid all that from not weaning in the 'right' way. I'm also planning to talk to the midwives at peckham bf cafe - just interested in forumites experiences. Thanks!
  7. I also enjoyed pregnancy yoga, at esph gym, particularly from about 28 weeks when I started to feel a bit like a hippo. Before that I went to regular yoga classes - it helped that the instructor also taught pre-natal yoga and was comfortable with me being there and could provide modifications to the poses. There is also an excellent pregnancy yoga DVD - 'Pregnancy Health Yoga' by Tara Lee. It's actually quite challenging!
  8. Hi, I'd be interested to know if anyone has one of these and any opinions/feedback. I have a kitchen the size of a fridge magnet and what appeals to me is that this little number steams, blends, defrosts and reheats all in one. However I am also a sucker for gadgets of any kind (especially kitchen/baby ones!) and wonder if I will really get good use out of it. http://www.johnlewis.com/230221303/Product.aspx Thanks!
  9. My parents stay at the Diana Hotel on Thurlow Park Road. Not East Dulwich obviously but they enjoy the walk through Dulwich Park to get to our flat. The P12 bus route also runs along Thurlow Park Rd and goes to Lordship Lane. http://www.dianahotel.co.uk/
  10. Best hot cross buns then, anyone? So far I have sampled from EDD, Blackbird and Lucas. So far EDD is the winner - plenty of fruit and spice. Steeply priced at 85p each but I shouldn't really be stuffing in more than one anyway. Supermarket suggestions also welcome...although if you're going to say Tesco I hope that the small local branch around the corner does them.
  11. This is the link you are looking for: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/YourServices/environment/RecyclingPages/hwrrc.html Once at Manor Place Depot I had to sign a form stating my address & contact details. So don't assume you won't be questioned about your borough.
  12. MGMP also needs more midwives or a longer antenatal clinic on a Wednesday. My midwife Nicky has been absolutely fantastic. However, after my 34 week check up, when trying to book an appointment for week 38, I was told there were no more appointments available and I would have to see a GP. Other times when I have called three weeks in advance, I've been told that the 'books aren't open' for taking appointments yet. Every time I deal with appointment booking, it's a 'luck of the draw' experience. I am going to try using the MG patient group email address to feed back my experiences.
  13. Well, after today's six nations match, there doesn't appear to be much to fear by way of a French rugby invasion.
  14. And for the credit cruncher option...you may laugh, but the latte at East Dulwich cafe (yes, the greasy spoon next to the record shop on LL) was always pretty good, reminded me of galao in Portugal. And at ?1 a mug - nice!
  15. Luca's Bakery - as mikese22 says, same bakery temptations currently on sale outside Moxon's, and also available at Green & Blue.
  16. Thanks mkiese22, glad someone finally noticed the title of the thread! I did not mean to start ANOTHER bread bashing thread - just wanted to know if anyone else had heard or knew anything about the GREENGROCER.
  17. The lady at the laundromat next to William Rose told me today that a new organic greengrocer is going in where the tyre shop used to be (on the corner opposite Franklins). Can anyone confirm that?
  18. Sounds great but I'm with Nero. Five posh bread/cake type shops in ED: East Dulwich Deli Green & Blue (stocks Luca's bread) Luca's (to open soon - in the old chicken shop?) La Chandelier (sells bread and stuff take away too) Blackbird bakery Plus the other bakery on the corner (opposite moo moo), not to mention cheese block, etc etc. Don't get me wrong I LOVE carbs and frankly I will be popping into Blackbird of an evening because of the 7pm closing time! Yeeha.
