  1. Another recommendation for Glen. Our freezer stopped working we called Glen, he quickly identified the problem gave us a price, ordered the part, returned when the part arrived and installed it with no fuss. Great communication, clear pricing and a decent bloke.

  3. lbsmith73 wrote, It is nice to see America leading the way that it is not about where you come from it is about your abilities that count (Barack Obama!!). Barack Obama was educated at a private school.
  4. Loz has repeated quotes used by the labour MP Dianne Abbot with key words changed.

Now you have pointed this out I'm sure AJ will have no further problems with their plumbing. Having said that, if they do they have used the same plumber 8 times in the last 9 months so at least they know who to call.........

I'm afraid to say Cyclemonkey that the fact that you made the bread does show pretentions of being middle-class. However this does depend on how you made the bread, if you knocked the dough up yourself and baked it in the oven you could still be working class (unless it was an Aga) but if you used a bread maker you are probably almost certainly middle class. It would depend where the bread maker is located. If it is on an island in your 30 x 30 kitchen diner you are middle class, if it is kept in a cupboard with the instructions still in it you are probably still working class. Personally I rather enjoy a full English at Fortnum & Mason every now and then but am now very confused as to what class they places me in. Is there a test I can take?
  7. Our own children are of course the most important things in our lives but we need to remember that they are going to spend a lot of their time in others company. Bringing a kid up is partly about preparing them for the real world and the real world is a git of a place!! If we are honest with ourselves when we make parenting decisions we sometimes are making them for 'parental convenience' i.e. even if we are not 100% sure we are making the right decision for our child if it makes our life easier at that point in time we choose the easy option. There is nothing wrong with this as long as we don't make all decisions in this way or deal with long term issues in this way. If you don't face up to an issue at some point it is likely that you are storing up issues for the future which is no good for parent, child or wider world Not sure if this post makes me a tool or not?
  8. Of course I could have, but what would that have led too? A 6 1/2 ft 16 stone man restraining a 10 year old child that is unknown to them, use a bit of common sense. Crap argument? Don't flatter yourself Lady D I have no need seek an argument with you, you are more than capable of weakening the cyclists position with every post you make.
  9. Loz, I am grateful for this. We all know the police will put no effort into finding the cyclist as they have more important things to be dealing with. Also the cyclist was approximately 10 years old.
  10. The cyclist was in no mood for talking and without physically restraining them I could not prevent them leaving. And of course I could not supply the police with number plate details.
  11. How about paying insurance? I've just paid ?536 to have a dent removed from my car caused by a cyclist coming down a one way road and hitting my car with their bike. Spoke to said cyclist at time of incident who told me to drive more carefully and that I was lucky they weren't injured!! Did I have any options to reclaim the money from the cyclist?
  12. Do you mean your last post? That doesn't answer the question I asked, unless you are calling the EDL a major political organisation.
  13. 2 followers of Islam target an individual, kill him in a barbaric act of terror and you don't want the words Islamic and terrorism mentioned. How do you want it described? Woodrot wrote, expect much anti islam agitation and posturing out > of this. it could be a marinus van den lubbe type > of trigger for the short of sense I obviously agree that the Nazi party were extremely short of sense, and not only when they executed Marinus van den lubbe for his political beliefs, what major political organisation in Britain today are you suggesting is going to execute innocent individuals for their political beliefs?
  14. Trespassers don't tend to clear areas of land to inhabit. Lady Delilah may well be right about the thought process of the OP only the OP would know this but what is wrong with that thought process? Clearing wasteland Non Irish accents Ran away from authorities = something dodgy going on. The problem with attacking the OP for the use of a single word which they actually preceded with the word possible is that you lose sight of what was happening was suspicious. And lets not forget the Fire Brigade had to attend this incident, lets hope their attendance at this incident didn't result in the death or injury of someone who really required their help.
  15. Mirandaasby wrote, 'My racial stereotyping comment was made because the OP knew these men to be Irish from speaking to them and jumped to the conclusion they were travellers. I agree he did not mention it in his comment but I still believe he was stereotyping, would he have thought that if they had a different accent. My opinion, of course.' The majority of travellers have Irish accents, I would imagine this has something to do with their Irish heritage. Of course the OP wouldn't have thought they were travellers if they didn't have Irish accents, why would or should he? LadyDeliah wrote, 'I reckon the OP's thought processes went like this: Clearing wasteland; Irish Accents; Ran from authorities = must be travellers wanting to live there. It seems she's the one with the dodgy adding up.' The OP has the screen name of Clive27A I assumed this meant they were male, or am I gender stereotyping? Give the OP a break they had a genuine concern, as would the majority of people that people may be moving onto land that was not theirs to be on. And previous experience shows that people who use land that does not belong to them to live on do not leave it in the same condition as they found it, whatever their race, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
  16. How do you actually qualify for a winners medal? I always thought you had to play in the final or be a sub for the final.
  17. I had norovirus and the after affects for 4 weeks. The actual period of vomiting and diarrhoea was approx 2 weeks The doctor said this was an unusual but not unheard of length of time to be suffering. Without being too graphic there were times I was glad our sink was close to the toilet as both were called into action simultaneously. All I was able to eat during the 4 weeks was plain rice with carrots and the occasional luxury of chicken noodle cup a soup. What shocked me was how weak I was left, it took 2 weeks for me to get close to feeling 'normal' again. If you are suffering from anything similar make sure you stay hydrated. Drink as much water as you can then some more.
  18. He's a former 'New Labour' PM. As a working class boy I was actually quite proud to see someone from a working class background given such a send off. Whatever you thought of her politics MT was a conviction politician. This has been highlighted by her detractors over the past few weeks. No one could accuse TB of being a conviction politician.
  19. You are wrong, it's not a state funeral and I was highlighting the fact that you were wrong in stating he met the same criteria. He clearly doesn't on the basis of gender.
  20. wee quinnie wrote 'Given that TB seems to meet the same criteria as MT...do you think this means he will get a state funeral?' Blimey he had me fooled for all those years, I thought he was a man........
