  1. You should accept the place at Haberdashers in the first instance, if you are then offered a waiting list place at JD you make a choice as to whether you accept it - if you do accept it then you automatically give up your place at haberdashers. Hope that helps
  2. I have just posted the following on James McCash's Councillor thread: James, In relation to the upcoming changes to collection of garden/food waste please can you confirm whether Southwark Council combines garden waste and food waste once collected? (either at the curb side or back at the depot) If so, it seems utterly ludicrous that when I choose to subscribe to the ?30/year brown bin collection that I will not be able to put food waste in there as well as garden waste (which is the system now), instead I will have to have ANOTHER plastic bin in my front garden just for food waste! If the two compostable components are not combined at the curb side - does this really mean that Southwark will have 2 collection lorries attending the same property every week for the collection of compostable waste? I am reasonably happy to pay the ?30/year charge for brown bin collection - I am certainly not happy at the seemingly ill-thought through process and a complete waste of resources providing additional food waste bins and separate lorry collections - seriously, this is proper 'back of a fag packet' stuff and is an embarrassingly obvious waste of much needed Council resources.

I believe Harris Girls is oversubscribed this year.
  5. Hi Oscar38, where do you mean by "the hill"?
  6. Lovely idea! My daughter asked me what I'd like as a present for Mother's Day - a handmade card and a cuppa in bed please! But now I'll be suggesting a donation here too
  7. I think you can listen to them via Audible using an echo dot? Best thing we bought for my 12 year-old , it is an additional outlay (around ?50) but its been worth it for us.
  8. Hi, I'm not familiar with the schools at the East side of Peckham Rye - it depends how far up Therapia/mundania - at the forest hill road end you may get into Fairlawn, Goodrich, Heber and most certainly St Francis Cabrini. At the Homestall Road end it's possibly less likely. We are on Dovedale Road and our son goes to Heber (although we got in on a sibling place), that said there are children at Heber (in reception and upwards) who got in on distance from roads such as Shelbury, Scutari and Peckham Rye (by the Harris Boys school). It might be useful to look at the last place distance offers of all the schools around the area. Best x
  9. We were in your position last year and our daughter is now at Harris Girls ED. We are incredibly impressed with the school, its results are excellent (better than all others in the area) but it is also very pastoral and has an old school mix of firm discipline delivered with warmth. The teachers are excellent, very personable and they 'get' the kids. Our daughter has small group music lessons of instrument of choice (guitar for her) and is performing at the globe theatre later this year in Henry V. There have been one or two friendship 'issues' which have been dealt with swiftly and well. Our daughter is fairly academic and the lessons are challenging and she certainly grumbles about the amount of homework (I suspect that'd the same where-ever she is). Happy to chat further if it'd help at all Good luck where ever your daughter goes - we're very lucky to have a number of really good schools in this area

Our daughter started at Harris Girls last year - it wasn't her first choice (although me and husband were impressed when we visited). It is a very good school, very pastoral (despite the Harris reputation) - have you considered it for your daughter? It's reputation from yesteryear still seems to follows it around and lots of folk turn it down when allocated so a waiting list position might be a shout? Hope everything works out and sending uber good vibes in the mean time I also think the sibling thing is quite unfair at > secondary. By then all kids are making their own > way to school. > Totally agree!

  12. products take sublingually absorb into the blood stream much faster than those take orally and more of the product is absorbed into the system - many medicines are delivered sublingually because it is a faster more efficient way of taking it in. It doesn't make sense that a diluted product taken orally would have more efficacy than the same (undiluted) product intended to be taken sublingually. We used Sash Smart http://www.sashsmart.co.uk/company/ a small family business based in Croydon. It was a few years ago now (but I see from the website that Chris and his Dad - far right of photo) are still involved. They provided one of the best services of any contractors we have employed (and we've done a lot of renovation on 2 different homes), they were hardworking, clean, polite and reliable - and also very reasonable cost-wise.
  14. Mothergoise Green Dale had lovely outdoor space, growing and cooking their own vegetables and they used to regularly make use of the wildlife space next door. This was some years ago so may have changed, especially with the ownership issues of the wildlife space...
  15. Heber primary School has its fair on Saturday 8th December - 2-5pm
  16. The herne is usually open
  17. I think this is entirely wrong. I'm astonished that there wasn't a check to ensure that someone was at home to provide care for her on discharge. She sounds very vulnerable, if it were me I would at least bring the matter to a relevant person's attention and ask for an explanation as to why it was deemed appropriate.
  18. There are only 60 places available for scholarship (presumably 30 sports/30 music) but MANY more full scholarships are offered than that. I have friends who were on the scholarship waiting list (which is a separate list to the main waiting list) last year having been offered full scholarships and their waiting list position was 160 something (main waiting list position around 200-odd), needless to say they weren't offered a place. angelas Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And did your friend's children with full > scholarships get places in the end? 19. No water in Dovedale Road either 😞
  20. Hi, most streets off Lordship Lane are very friendly to trick or treaters. The rule tends to be if the house is decorated or has a pumpkin outside its safe to knock!
  21. Hmmm well in terms of the music scholarship, we had friends who were offered full scholarships last year and ended up in the 100s on the 'scholarship list' - there are only 60 scholarship places (split between music and sport)... If you're near guaranteed a place at CED, you Co ld chance your arm at Kingsdale and put CED next. X
  22. With in-term applications, the school will contact you directly immediately a space is available (according to your list position). The area is awash with very good primary schools (we're very lucky), my children have been to and still go to Heber Primary and i can only recommend it whole heartedly
  23. City mapper significantly better than tfl
  24. There is one by the toilet block behind the park office
