  1. Well said SJ - was going to check that one out, won't bother now if they think they can traet punters like idiots.
  2. El pibe - I admire your faith in traditional sources of information and the media's quality of info. The point is, when you get enough and wide input and take out the outlier nutters (which the vast majority of us are more than capable of doing) the Internet has vastly improved my understanding of products, companies, services, websites, etc via my peers not company literature/PR/Magazine reviews etc Vastly. Yu'#ve got the word of mouth of 1000s rather than just a few friends in some areas and, aggregated it's pretty darn good in most areas - trvel, hotels, bars, restaurants, Techie products, games, etc etc etc. Give me the wisdom of crowds in most areas I buy in now oover reviews in the press or companies marketing gumf.
  3. MrB that's a complete sidetrack, red herring (and arguabally not really true anyway many forums and even commercial sites are policed by the wisdom of crowds, but that's another debate). ED is a pretty small area, the EDF is a raesonable representation of reasonable number of pub/bar/restaurant users. Businesses that don't engage with their customers and potential customers and don't use an mazing resource such as a localised forum like this for feedback/marketing whatever or just to to get a feel are quite frankly darn right mad, stupid, etc. Could a 'fake review' on the EDF put a retailer out of business? behave! Seriously, this is policed by admin, by its many contributors and all the local retailers can , and many do, comment etc. Stupid behaviour by businesses that apparently don'twant to hear what customers think...thoughts that many proper businesses pay ?0000s for. Not a clue I'm not going to any business that isn't willing to take reviews/comments from regular local punters and actually tries to gag them...luckily there's plenty of competition locally that do want to listen to their customers.
  4. Maybe certain establishments should have signs outside saying... No Users of the EDF No Buggies etc etc
  5. Dunno which ones etc but I think Admin get's consistent crap and legal threats from a minority of retailers who presumably (and I've heard) hate the EDF as it gives their punters a collective voice. This is a great local resource that serves people well and if local businesses are too scared of that in this day and age then f**k them as far as I'm concerned.
  6. I have been tittering at "The Foul Mouthed Count" pub page on Facebook, midly amusing for a while (check out the face painting pictures)
  7. ...well then just leave it, plenty of others do, especially if they are doing good business without the forum...why threaten to sue/shut it down?
  8. ..that made his ears burn *bursts into No More Heroes
  9. Anyway, one of these establishments I haven't been in for years becuase I think its attitude to customers stinks, another one I was thinking of trying but certainly won't bother now and tend not to use new places unless they get an airing on the forum anyway. So, as *B put it..their loss. and stooopid in the digital age.
  10. yeah but Steveo these things tend to get self corrected: ie Plenty of defenders if they've had a good experience there Hand held up by resturant/bars that engage if something not right and criticism taken on baord or at leats acknowledged Plenty of opportunity to put case forward if they think they've been wronged Pesrsitsent single critics and/or, ahem, rivals tend to get exposed by Admin or other posters Please most people as much as possible, engage with your audience. But to try and close down any criticism in a stalinist fashion FFS
  11. Smiley thing
  12. I've not really thought about next season yet, although West Ham already back in training! To be honest, United, City, Chealsea, Spuds, Liverpool and Arsenal are the only teams I think will definitely be safe and probably Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland. After that I think it's a massive Bunfight. I think Villa may be the shock candidate for relegation but I see potential second season blues for Norwich and Swansea I think all of the promoted clubs will struggle (including us) and perennial battler Wigan. QPR, Fulham...don't look convincing. West Brom probably ok. West Ham's start is almost exclusively against relegation rivals before a hideous set of games in early winter. If we are not top half by mid-October I think we'll struggle. I think BFS has a couple of signings in mind but we missed out on Holt. Long tense season.
  13. ...just because

The long term history on inflation > already demonstrates that we're never at the level > in the long term. Greece needs to devalue because the German guilted Euro is about 30pc too high in value for its economic strenght ..it's in a completely false and unrealistic exchange rate thanks to the Euro (see also Italy and others). QE pushes up bond prices by increasing demand falsley, in the long term this is in theory counteracted when the bonds are sold off by govt and the 'cash' destroyed, but as bonds and gilts form the major part of annuity purchases because of their stability then anyone retiring during the QE phase gets a lifetime hit asa result of QE and that is no fun at all and they are not your 1pc. You we're talking rot. Moral high ground? You're having a laugh surely? I'm quite happy on the economic high ground.
  18. people are really getting what they would like confused with whAt would be commercially viable
  19. they haven't got that much muscle surely. I for one would be willing to put my hand in my pocket to defend the EDF against such threats from what is a shitty establishment anyway. Let's collectively call their bluff!
