To be fair to emc, single mothers is hardly a recent demographic trend and their share of households has remained static since the 1980s. Emc I think that a major demographic change that hasn't been fully thought through yet is the fact that the average age of becoming a mum for the first time is rising rapidly and especially so among the middleclasses....check out all the 40 somethings with babies in SE22... ....er if you want to talk to a wrong half of 40s omething dad with pre-school kids...then I'm your man

I've been a long term 'gloomist' on the economy and for me this unprecedented move from the deeply 'conservative' MPC shows just how near we are to a catastrophic depression as those 'in the know' are belatedly only too aware....this is a gamble to stop mass unemployment and widespread bankruptcy - on a personal, corporate, municipal and possibly even national basis

I have resolutely pursued Kylie for over 10 years now by studiously avoiding her (to the extent of not meeting her) not sending her anything ....not a gift, lock of hair, card, telegram or text....making her blissfully unaware of my existence and marrying someone else and having 2 kids with them; so I have to say this particular technique has failed and is not to be recommended. Hope that is helpfull.
