PCSO's stopping and fining cyclists (on ED Road)
SeanMacGabhann replied to d803cn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This man seems agin cycling on pavements I can't see why anyone should cycle on pavements - if the environment is too harsh for kids cycling on the roads then tackle the problem rather than jumping on a pavement (if I'm a bit harsh I've been hit once and harassed twice by cyclists on pavements this week) -
Jeremy Greendale is the road that continues on from Townley Rd, on the East Dulwich Grove side

As many of us are playing hefty games on 360, we can't have helped but notice how busy and noisy that DVD drive is - are we all looking forward to being able to play these games off hard disk after the 19th Nov?
-
As it's my local how can I say no?!
-
Jack Wilshire - he just looks to good to be true

Speculation Alert: I'm willing to bet that more than one of the adults involved were abused as children as well. And didn't receive much in teh way of support or solace then or since Sepculation Off That wouldn't condone what has happened either btw.
-
Microbite I'm sure we all share your reaction to the events but you can't say these attacks are increasing. As ratty says you might be reading more about them but that's a completely different thing On the story itself, the BBC were making much of the fact that teh child was on the "at risk" list - but the reality is that if services were to pull in everyone onthat list the country would be in uproar about the nanny state and invasion of privacy. It's a really really difficult balancing act and inevitably there wil be instances like this. Whic isn't to endorse complacency but making decisions in an emotional state isn't very wise either
-
It's not new macrobite - humanity always has had a small percentage which is "broken" for want of a better word Personally, when these stories crop up - if the perpetrators are found and detained I tend to no move on as pring of the gory detail feels like I'm complicit. No value can be gained (other than a small band of professionals) from dwelling on it - but to suggest it is modern society going to hell in a handcart is way wide of the mark.

The Greendale is I THINK now The Oriwusu Spot. On the way back from teh Dog forum drinks several forumites had an entertaining late night but subsequent visits seemed more cliquey

It's a game I'm hoarding until I finish Orange Box - but I like what I've seen so far I've heard rumours of large DLC for Fable 2 imminent apparently

Found this thread earlier this morning Things you didn't know in games And when I read about the Wait bit in Oblivion I shuddered at the memory of crouching in some guys attic for half a freaking hour!! Good to know about the VATS chaining in Fallout 3 as well

Jah- I think Caffeine Addict has every intention of getting out more - when he/she actually moves to the area any day now Caffeine Addict - a quick google will reveal the location of most of thos pubs mentioned, or you could have a peek in www.fancyapint.com www.beerintheevening.com Snorky, sometimes of this parish, has written some very entertaining reviews on the latter site

Nice use of a Brand-ism there Carnell! But seriously - if Gaunty was calling someone those things, just how bad were THEY?
-
Sue - did you go tothat Kraftwerk night?? I really fancied it but then forgot about it? I'm preferring the pubs we haven't been to yet as a suggestion - all of them sound good and liek quids I prefer a beer. But it's Christmas a brave suggestion by Georgia
-
Moos: I'm not saying Sue can't or shouldn't petition for fewer flights. I'm just saying that the government are unlikely to take any action over said petition when so many people want to fly and will do more than petition if prevented. Nor am I saying those people should be heard more.. I'm simply stating the likely outcome. But really it seems people that people care about the noise over their house and not about the number of flights in general. When they get to the airport people tend to want MORE planes. I could be wrong and most people pn here WANT fewer flights in which case I stand corrected Then again, as Sue says, all these points have been made on another thread (or earlier on this one). And apologies if I said you were discounting teh bigger argument - it was what I took from your statement "but that's a bigger issue too many planes flying low over my house at 4.30am and disturbing my sleep."
-
So if you are discounting the bigger argument, and we are left with "I don't want them over my house at 4:30am", you can't bottle out and NOT say whose house you DO want them over at 4:30am (sorry Sue - I'm not trying to pick on just you - I think you are making the same points that many people are making)
-
Sue I hear you but I don't think you can lay it at the governments door - any government is going to have deal with howls of outrage from everyone addicted to cheap flights. Once again, responsibility for the problem is as much with the people as it is the government Personally I'm with Jeremy - it's a price we pay for living in a word city. I'm pro flight-reduction on an environmental basis but the case has to be made - and I don't think it's a case that can be made on a local basis - it's all or nothing on this one I reckon
-
but Sue - what is it exactly you are going to say? I don't want these flights - give them to someone else?
-
Particularly good set there Andrew - cheers

Has Peckham Farmers Market closed down? (Lounged)
SeanMacGabhann replied to rachel4's topic in The Lounge
come on Kel - you know full well that Peckham, Nunhead and Camberwell get discussed lots on here. Many of us venture to all these places frequently.. no need to turn into Alan Dale ;-) -
Cyclist danger area (behind Old Kent Road)
SeanMacGabhann replied to Carol's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yikes - a couple of people have reported similar attacks at differet locations on here in the last couple of years and it always sounds horrendous. As others have said, I hope you are ok and it doesn't affect you too much -
Chav = forumite called Chavwivalawdegree. She has started keeping chickens of late That Co-op on FHR has always struck me as trying to be all things to all people in a unit that is just way too small. I have seen reps from HO in there talking to managers and giving them a hard time in the past as well. Maybe it is all the various managers fault, but after a while you start to wonder if the problem is something else..

giggirl - you are in here at your peril! Or you don't mind spoilers I guess... Keef - The scene I mean is when Brother M's flunky is looking for Omar and visits a gay bar - something he is incredibly bothered by. Anyway dramatic scene follows, with flunky leaving as he is watched by the regular customers - including an alone, on the pull Rawls in a not-very-festching sweater

Ditto Mark And I believe Bon3yard. And CWALD...
