  1. not Curly Worly and not Five Boys It's one of the big ones
  2. if we MUST go down the road of chocolate bars... a triv question People seem to get upset when their chocloate bar changes name to a global name - which bar retained it's UK name and had it's equivalent around the world change to the UK name
  3. There are loads of these - one to be getting on with
  4. Surely by now the ladies realise SPM won't be marrying ANY of them??
  5. same ad agency as well yay muffintop! BellendBelle - stop being so powerwalkist ;-)
  6. at least Ratty was being provocative! Muffintop - please tell me you were doing the same!
  7. I will say this however: Irish television coverage of football is miles ahead of the sycophantic drivel on UK TV. That isn't anything to do with anything - it just is a current fact. It could all swap over in a few years. Except I've been waiting decades Oh and it does bug me when successful athletes are British and unsuccesful ones are Welsh/Scottish etc..
  8. good shout Mockers - worth watching in fact Monkey Tennis?
  9. 10-2 to the Arsenal last night. meaningless of course - but some of the kids do look very impressive. And Walcott looked like a senior when he came on...
  10. well it's notable that the Advertising complaints body only received 2 complaints or something - and this is a storm from some US protest group (who would, I'm sure, also protest if a UK group told them what they can and can't watch on US TV) The right to protest is one I defend but when ANYbody can protest about ANYthing and deliberately miss the point...... I despair. No, the ad isn't homophobic All this AND Snickers are vile (first person to mention the M word also gets a slap)
  11. More about this at the motley fool website Capping tariffs But then I tend to read what they say and do the opposite anyway Oh and every time I see EDF mentioned in the papers I think of the forum - silly I know
  12. Speaking for my people Keef... ;-) - oh ok then, speaking for me.. There IS a certain type of English person who likes to use the history between both countries to try and be the big man. And yes the English have a poor history with regard to the treatment of Irish (B&Bs with no black no dogs no Irish in the window doesn't scream "parity" does it?) But most of that is history and I rarely encounter a dodgy attitude any more. Then again I don't go to Swindon any more either... But no I don't find English people to be especially arrogant
  13. Why so annoyed tho' Declan - you've made some good points in this thread and only about 3 o clock did you seem to get a bit more heated I don't think I was one of your friends in that pub but I can say I have thrice been in bars watching an Irish game when English fans kicked off - the last time was that ill-fated game in Dublin. For that one I was in a genteel pub in Exeter and all of the quite posh blooks were cheering as hooligans tore the stadium apart. But they were knobs with a misplaced patriotic pride. They weren't cheering because they were English - they were cheering because they were knobs I used to have a chip on my shoulder about what I perceived to be English arrogance - but surprise surprise, living here has disabused me of that notion. And if I do still encounter someone with an air of English superiority from time to time - well... we Irish are more than capable of generalising too. So I ignore knobs from both camps
  14. during the famine, if the Irish could afford to emigrate they could have afforded a meal in a reasonable restaurant And it wasn't a famine anyway it was a potato blight - and if you are a picky eater you will pay the price.. (yes yes apologies - those two remarks are Alan Partridge's , not mine. Still funny tho' )
  15. looks bad... Weston grand pier burnt to ground
  16. Is moos back back BACK? Happy Birthday A HP nod to buggie too
  17. did you go yesterday Mike? I was already commited elsewhere but wanted to big up Hoopers a bit more having wandered in on Saturday as part of the pub crawl We timed things wrong and arrived there 20 mins before their Saturday opening time but they still opened up early for us Several people in the group hadn't been before and all really liked the place The food menu looked great - good British basics, which, by sticking to a small menu suggests they are cooked well good work Jamie and Viv
  18. popped along here yesterday for some Sunday Lunch as was veeerrry impressed. The food itself was top notch with very thickly sliced roast beef, nicely rare and quality ingredients. David Oooh-no-alcohol-for-me-not-after-last-night Carnell joined me later and was similarly impressed But for the first time since I've been going to whichever-pub-is-on-the-site they seem to have nailed the interior - front is lounge/casal eating with a more formal (but not starchy) back room. A candidate for forum drinks I say - it takes less that 5 minutes to get there from Locale or the Rye hotel so is easily convenient
  19. Is your daughter doing EVERY festival this year Tillie?? Life is a Pigsty
  20. This one has come around a bit sharpish hasn't it - I should get there for about 9 Anyone care to share an American Hot? Also, it's about now that ???? does his traditional "shall I come this time? or just lurk in a corner? What time does it start again?" just come along you tart!
  21. In the Observers comparison of all last weekend's festivals, they highlighted the fact that at one of them some blokes spent the weekend running around the place all but naked and playing "Last of the International Playboys" constantly I THINK I admire them for that.... Last night I dreamt that somebody looved me
  22. well quite, PGC. And remember... Some girls are bigger than others
  23. The offer made to Vorderman (90% cut if reports are to be believed) suggests that C4 are happy to seen Countdown end - it was never the same for me afte they extended it from 30 to 45 mins As for how "bad" she feels as she still loves the show and the fans so much - well..... it's not like she can't afford to take the hit is it? She still gets a fair wedge for doing something she "loves" -
