  1. Muttley - that post just proves how wrong imperial measures CAN be surely?
  2. He's being brolier than thou again Dan ;-) Broiling generally - start the education here as ever tho'- just use that as a starting point
  3. it might be worth booting into safe mode before running the spyware programs, then rebooting again. It's unlikely any quarantining will have any effect without rebooting (feel free to contradict me anyone - it's been years since I did this for a living)
  4. A steakhouse with more adventurous cuts than the traditional rump/sirloin/filet would hit the spot for me I like a piece of onglet for my steak-frites And speaking of frites, very few places do good ones - much less great ones Somewhere like Les Halles in NY would be the kind of place I would love to have nearby Les Halles
  5. Hi Dan I reckon you would find an audience for all of the above. Somewhere LIKE Bodeans would also be good. A Vietnamese has been announced once or twice on here but for whatever reason(s) it's never quite happened A rival Mexican would be interesting but we should see how the revamp of the existing one goes And a vegetarian restaurant always comes up in "what we don't have" type polls As for ED generally and food - we do pretty well by many postcode standards but I would say there is an overall "meh" factor if you are being serious about quality. Most of the restaurants around here have their champions and detractors, but in my opinion the only one I would rate as a destination for outsiders would be Franklins. It does a small menu, with good ingredients and does them very well. And service (possibly only in the evening) is great as well Have you got summat interesting in mind for a vacant space??
  6. I wouldn't want you to - I was just teasing - although geographical location is no impediment to foruming * waves to Huguenot in Singapore *
  7. so... no chance of you moving back then?? ;-)

    Behold!

I have asked the lady in question, and permission has been granted... so all that remains now is to warn viewers of a nervous disposition to not click the link For those still interested in seeing a prominent forumite, looking very special indeed at his stag this weekend... BEHOLD!!!
  9. just to note that it's not just converting between the two systems that causes less-for-same price.. I read this article at the weekend Honey, they shrank the packets of food
  10. What sort of virus scan have you done Asset? Usinga virus scanner alone won't help if Spyware has made it's way onto the system for example - you need suitcase of differnt apps This thread on (gasp!) another forum should contain plenty Help -my PC has started running slowly Links to necessary software as well
  11. That's why he's on his own tonight
  12. was that inspired by something I said in another thread...?
  13. reported by Mark - that's it. Good shout Piers. (I was there that night I should have remembered)
  14. Or as Stephen Patrick M. put it "It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes guts to be gentle and kind" Or something. But you have to pronounce "guts" as goots
  15. Another strike - Just spilled water over my keyboard
  16. re:C***aquarium - was it snorks?
  17. not that good - I didn't bite (for once) This thread will still go down in the as a classic
  18. it is lip balm (I'd swear it is Carmac) - BUT IT TASTES OF CARAMEL! What's not to like?? Oh, I kissed a girl once as well...
  19. EdOldie - FLAGRANT attempt to derail the thread in a plethora of double-entendres!! Warning to anyone decrying eco views as "hackneyed" however - come back in 10/20 years time and defend that stance..
  20. It's all about the Carmac in the MacGabhann house BB..
  21. wow Strawbs - you really going to put a counter on every post?? Somerfield: Not QUITE the coldest place in ED - that honour goes to the Tesco Metro or whatever it's called opposite Locale
  22. hehe bon3yard - I know what you mean - but in his own words: "I am a flaky @#$%& sometimes and am constantly running around like a headless chicken. So, if I don't get back to you, it's not because I don't want your help, it's probably because I'm : a ) not near a computer b ) got no credit, so can't call you c ) looking after my daughters "
  23. Excuse me young lady - The only thing that counts on this forum is raw number of posts - Keef and Mockney took an early and seemingly unassailable lead, but by God I've given it a fair old crack - Just 700 or so posts behind Keef's 6447 (at time of writing). He's in my sights! Edited: Because I forgot I wasn't in the Lounge. Back on topic then. Strawbs is experiencing the same feelings I did when I moved here 7 years ago. Only I still haven't really stopped feeling them. I know it's not perfect (where is when you actually LIVE there) but it's the only place I've ever felt I can call home and mean it.
  24. Steve Wright - not the English maaaad DJ but the American comedian (also the radio guy in Reservoir Dogs)
