  1. And this one - a very very different take on such a poppy song - plus she has a touch of Bodimore poh-lice about her
  2. what a wonderful post ed_pete - I'm buying you a drink at the Uplands if you make it next Friday
  3. Modest Mouse... hmmmmmm - sounds familiar ;-)
  4. series 3 is the only one I don't have - someone lent me that one - sorry Keef. I think a few others on here may have it tho
  5. not alone as such - but not quite *sigh* worthy
  6. yeah I've been avoiding all season 5 spoilers and or torrent/downloads like the plague - hard as that is. It's partly the fact that once I see season 5 that's it But I'm also waiting until end of season 5 to rewatch the lot - there is sooo much to pick up on with repeat viewings Also am I alone in fancying McNulty's ex-wife?
  7. true dat keef
  8. I remember a restaurant called "Thai Me Kangaroo Down Sport" but can't remember where I saw it - obviously Australia is the obvious candidate but for some reason I can't shake Bath out of my head
  9. unsurprisingly I'm 10 a day More surprisingly I'm not the highest - phew. Long live King Keef!
  10. can't help but feel I've read all this too late - too many edits! But I gather from the title and the responses that snake oil of some sort was being promoted Had I not met Nuala at the last forum drinks I might be tempted to agree with the spam comment - but whilst not endorsing it in anyway I suspect that Nuala genuinely believes in the product. So while she might be wrong, I don't think she's a spammer If she was a spammer I might even have enjoyed snorky's rant but she is someone who has been around the forum for a while and posted on several topics so I would suggest more diplomatic means of.... refuting any claims made
  11. prop joe I like as well herc is painful but I like carver and he develops well over seasons
  12. pootling around Hanoi I found this beauty which took me back to my youth (and reminded me of a certain other forumite) Half Man Half Noodle Anyone else got any favourites?
  13. I wondered how long before someone pointed that out and who it would be - take a bow Asset. Being a Libran of course, means that I don't believe in astrology ;-) No word from TT - we can assume it was a good evening. Reminds me I must book a trip to Baltic soon - I like that place (dead 'andy for work too)
  14. let us forget - When ED was first formed, Edwardes sat on that very site, with that very sign. No other premises ever existed there, to be later replaced by Edwardes - and THAT is why we should all bow before the sign
  15. Says who? And what is sudden about any of this? And who is taking anything away from anyone? Well, technology is about solving problems - in this case what was once a simple pleasure, then a useful tool, then a necessity has now become the very problem itself. And who is suggesting reverting to horse and cart? I've seen and heard that reference from a few people now as if those people who can see what the problem is are nothing more than luddites. Leave aside the ecological argument for now (it's still relevant but some people seem overly defensive about it) It's maths ok? A street with 20 people begets a street with a further 20-30 people, who in turn beget a further 30-50 people. That street with one car per house now need a further 50 odd spaces for cars. And so on and so on. don't you see?????? It's not like alternatives aren't available (and none involving a horse and cart) - It would seem that for some people, mixing with their fellow humans is simply too degrading a step to take As for the experiment: I suspect in environmental terms you are right. In and of itself it would make little difference. But to do nothing? And people wonder why I'm reluctant to bring children into the world... No-one is blaming the home car user for everything. But home car users who can't see that they are starting to sit in their own waste but keep on doing it.. and then complain when the waste and other car users get in their way??? What will be will be is an admirable statement in many ways - but it doesn't appear to include other people fighting to eke out a few more years on the planet without recourse to being forced ever-more into their own homes by ever-upsizing vehicles and their demand for more roads.... Next time you pay a parking fine, increase in petrol or congestion charge just say - again and again - "what will be will be"
  16. Oooh no Ed - I'm a Libran. I was referring to the fact that because Tillie was younger than me she could at least hang on until much later in the year so we could have a joint birthday Hope Baltic was lovely Tillie :)-D xx
  17. well it's easily said (and I have said it) but of course it just isn't true for many people I'm facing a decision at the moment which, of the several negatives against it, is the fact that it will significantly increase the possibility of "needing" a car. Do I take the responsibility now and say "no" based upon that, and other factors or do I say "yes" and to hell with worrying about the car etc. I'm only one of billions etc but we all have to take some responsibility for the situations we find ourselves in surely?
  18. she'llsurvive and KalamityKel are on the money here. I do understand the arguments for and against a CPZ - for what its worth I would say it was a bad thing for ED but I've said many a time; people are arguing for the wrong thing if the debate comes down to "I need at least one car and it needs to be outside my dwelling. And I need to travel everywhere in it" It's not a lefty/liberal/hippy argument to suggest that isn't going to be sustainable - as KK says - it's basic math....s Now generally when that is pointed out a whole bunch of related, but not pertinent stuff comes out - shops will shut, businesses will suffer, I'll have to travel further for x etc etc - yet all of this will be as nothing compared to the problems faced by everyone if people don't start waking up to the problem right now. Congestion charges etc are crude and arguably inneffective measures to calm traffic but at least they are trying. If only the journeys that were necessary (medical, heavy goods etc) were made most of the time we wouldn't really have a problem - but that's not how we lead our lives. Only way out of this is to collectively take responsibility and try and.... let go
  19. Florian I like a lot of what you say - but why is in and of itself A Good Thing? Apart from being impossible to define, I can't think of any country where substituting that country for British in that sentence is any good either. My own country (Ireland) was, for generations, ill-served by Devalera's idea of a mythical ireland where maidens danced at crossroads I'm reminded of the butler character in Remains of the Day - so, so, saddeningly, maddeningly married to an outmoded idea of "proper" that he failed to see the present and future until it was too late Chener has it's charms (I was in there today) but to hold it up as an example of something we should be hanging on to (buckets for dripping ceiling? peeling signage? credit cards "a bit of a problem") at the expense of say... review bookshop in Peckham.. I fail to see why that would be a good thing
  20. true karter, but according to the label it is "best before" April 2008, thousands of years in nature's wilderness or not
  21. oh my days - Curve... I had many a sleepless night in my youth over Toni Halliday... in the words of, well, you... *sigh* In many a drunken stumble of late, I have been known to belt out The Weeping Song - Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds I will be looking for singing partners at the next drinks!
  22. Dom - I think you have expressed the anti argument perfectly. But, again, if people want to buy it I'm not going to be bothered... until the hat gets passed around
  23. 'nuff said Although most people will decry my choice of Suede - but everyone has heard Wyatt's sublime version and I happen to like this Suede one a lot
  24. Judging by the "behaviour" of the little un's running rampant in pubs when I go back I would suggest it's not just the colour's appearance which is a problem. But even tho' you are correct, Irish Fanta is still nothing to that powdered stuff (did we put the recommended levels of water in to drink it? hell no - JUST enough to make it gloopy and drinkable - God, I'm getting palpatations thinking about it!)
  25. so that's at least 3 of us up for a Devon reunion section at the next drinks then? Anyway, before this gets lounged, back to our man in Grove Vale
