  1. MrBen - I am normally up for the comedy there as well but as one time only, re-opening night of the East Dulwich Comedy night, with a quiz hosted by Stephen Frost I am moonlighting (sorry Joe!)
  2. If everyone behaved as you do in Halo 3 the world's population problems would be so over..
  3. I USED to have pockets... until holes kept appearing. Plus it means I can acquire a book/cd/dvd/ whatever and not need a plastic bag Plus it keeps a little umbrella And an A-Z Marvellous things... no going back I tell you
  4. Don't worry Atila - we cover them on here too. Have a look at some of the other threads But it is possible to care about things that don't affect my life directly. If the working-class boy made good chose to hawk a more intelligent paper (let's pick any paper at all, bar the one that in some footballing cities, is still shunned by many for it's abhorrent stance on Hillsborough) then he might inspire just ONE person to do something more worthwhile...
  5. I can be a fellow gooner, admire the years he gave us, switch channels AND not be jealous.. ..but still think he's wrong to do it
  6. Spangles - surely there is nothing wrong with "ending this" by now. IS there really any merit in sustaining teh argument when it is surely going to lead to more mud-slinging I wouldn't call the request to end it sanctimonious. I do however take issue with calling Bellenden Belle a nasty piece of work. Not only was her post articulate but it was well-balanced and made some salient points How do I know Bellenden Belle is not a nasty piece of work? Because the community you are so keen to deny existing is real and I have met her on several occassions through this very forum I'm glad to gave shout to Keef as well - another top person who plays no small part in the community too Should you come to the drinks on Friday (details are near the top of the list of threads for the last couple of days) you might find it harder to refute
  7. The Contender - Gary Oldman film?? Very enjoyable despite mixed reviews upon release I thought
  8. This man-bag that people seem to like.... I was lucky enough to receive one some time back as a birthday gift and it has lasted me a lot longer than any equivalent, combined. Seems like a lot for what it is but I'm getting the value...
  9. I was about to say the same but the truth is, it's never how these things work out Apart from downsouth as the token first timer ( to a group forum drink anyway) it seems to be the ole faithfuls. Come on recent arrivals or long-time lurkers - let's be 'avin you
  10. Glad you liked it Nero - it's become a big favourite of ours. And if the kitchen is a bit eyebrow-raising I'm sure it's 100 times better than many street stall food we all rave about when we are on holidays Nice people too
  11. "Refugee education number TWOOOO!"" Jah - top shout with the MIA track. Haven't bought the second album yet but you've just reminded me. As for novelty songs, how about a bit of girl/jelly action (or not) She Don't Use Jelly
  12. As to what the thread has turned into - hmm social housing OR IVF? (I have just typed opinions on both but have just removed them until I find a better way of expressing it - I don't want to fan any further flames) Next...
  13. Moved to the Lounge as it has been off-topic for quite a while
  14. good shout citizenEd - I had forgotten completely about that thread - sorry all. move along...nothing to see here
  15. If you were to purchase a wardrobe in there then you would look pretty poor but I find the, how shall I put it, softness of the colours a good base to match with other clothes. I think they are fine... (and until any competition at all exists for male clothing in the area, summat is better than nowt)
  16. Clare I haven't seen too much negativity towards Kai either - landlord's provide a service after all and I did mention that if the tenant is troublesome than my sympathies are with Kai You make some good points but ultimately there is no sense that someone is being turfed out of their home - which is what's happening regardless of how nicely done, how correct the motivations and how legally binding. The main reason UK law is as snorky puts it "in the dark ages" is that by and large tenants have little choice but to tolerate short-term tenancies The sense that a tenant is a second-class citizen pervades I have a good friend (an echo of the Porsche thread coming up but with a twist) who is about to buy his first property. He is being totally honest about his mercenary reasons for doing this (make money, don't worry about the tenant's rights, oblivious to landlord's responsibilities) but rather than defend him I tell him straight to his face why I think he is wrong. But he genuinely does not believe he is doing anything wrong. So If I have put the pro-tenant case forward in this thread then I have reasons. But as I said in my first reply I know many landlords with equally horrific stories to tell about tenants from hell so I am not one-sided on this. I think current legeslation is a botched job which doesn't address the needs of either side very well
  17. I miss it. That is all (well, apart from the fact that G&B are doing a swell job on the same site)
  18. Less than a week to go so lets keep this near the top of the list. . . I have noticed a few people dont even know its on so who is coming this time? Special invitation to people who havent been before. .
  19. There is ultimately 4 more series. And wait for it. They get better. so which characters do you like
  20. Are you coming to the drinks on friday spangles? Plenty of real people there i dont have a problem with mothers be they 30 or 40 something. You just will not see 9 sets of twins in 30 minutes. Which is the one point you singled out as definitely true. You will some twins. Over a day. Maybe. If you are looking for them. But i doubt it signifies much.
  21. Shouldnt you be busy setting up the forest hill forum or something by now? the one fact to claim to be definitely true is demonstrably un true and im not sure what point it is you want to make there is a parallel thread about ed not surviving an imminent recession. That too is equally pointless. And they both cant be true. the times piece is ultimately a pleasant enough puff piece but no more than that are all 7 points above a bad thing if somerfield did put butchers out of business years ago was that a good thing? Not if the meat i got from there this week was anything to go by. So a butcher opening is a return to common sense and not a sign of an area going to the dogs. Imo it wasnt eden before. Its not now. And it wont be when more city types arrive. But it remains the best mix i have found in london in 20 years
  22. hmmm - I think AFN meant that as an insult Citzen
  23. I saw that one on Friern Rd yesterday morning - or was it Wed? Kerbside window - opportunistic smash and grab by the look of it
  24. Huey, Luey & Duey ?
  25. This may be my favourite quote of the day (on a day of stiff competition at that!) Conduct, people, it's all about the conduct
