I was working in New Jersey a couple of years ago and I got talking to this guy about Homicide:Life On The Street and he was "that's MY show! If you like that you should check out the new show by same team" so I picked it up asap - I have to ration the episodes so I always have some to look forward to. Other great boxsets are the aforementioned Homicide, plus Deadwood (Ian McShane is one BAD hombre). Just started on BBC3 on Sunday nights is a new sitcom called Gavin & Stacy which I am loving as well

BBC London for me, although can only agree about Danny vacating the breakfast show has led to a massive drop in interest. That Joanne Hood woman, I mean honestly... Can't say I join the love for Vanessa - sometimes she does display here intelligent side but more often she is happy to stoke the flames of discontent out there. Eddie Nestor does a better job in that respect but in fainess both are a squillion miles better than John Gaunt 5 Live and 6 music are my other radio haunts. I used to love Radio 4 and like some of the comedy shows but the relentless obviousness of most of the news is to depressing. You know what everyone is going to say about any given subject before they say it

** thinks back to Fear's idea about hooking up Guitar Hero to the TV in the CPT and having a serious session ** ** wonders how possible that will be and who would be up for it ** ** chinks Tillie's glass ** ** Assures DulwichMum that the Friday feeling is reserved for those of us with salary-enforced weekly structure and is largely unavailable to those ladies who lunch at leisure ;-) **

** wonders if Mike is aware that Estonia is under "cyber-attack" according to yesterday's paper - lot's of it's websites closed to international traffic now ** ** wonders if anyone else has got that Friday feeling yet **

Cheers Georgia - although if any of us lot turn up won't that have the opposite effect of the "delights" of ED "last thing I remember some people showed up and then I don't. Remember. A. Thing. But my head hurts, my mouth is dry and half of what I say is in asterix"

That's a good point Nero Although I am aware that me trying to make what is essentially a political point on a thread where someone has been hurt is bad form - I was just trying to be pre-emptive

I'd love to catch the ****** who did it Best wishes to the postie in question Hope noone whose post is affected suffers too much (sounds like could be me too) And of course noone who rants about the world is a bad person (well apart from Littlejohn but he is beyond hope) My point is - ranting about the world (as I am wont to do many times a day) based on anecdotal evidence alone doesn't make me right. My first thought when I read fish's story was "what the hell is goin on?" but I learned some time ago that when you look into these things the city was more often than not a worse place "back in the day". (I'm setting myself up as a target here aren't I?) This attack might be a sign that the area is going to hell in a handcart or it might be a sign that we are in one of those cyclical spates which happen from time to time and that actually things are about the same and we needn't worry any more than we did, say a year ago. Too early to say at this point imo

I hope the postman is ok and if any of his colleagues read on here maybe they can let us know? And while it's no consolation to the poor guy I feel compelled to point out that as someone who hates any kind of "the world is going to pieces" Littlejohn-esque rant let's be clear this isn't a unique incident either in ED or globally http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22postman+attacked%22+&meta=

Dreadful news - where did you hear the original news about this morning's attack fish? Was it witnessed by anybody?

not fogetting the obligitatory "and how are you today?" Have a freakin guess! I had a fractious day at the office (soothed only by access to this wonderful place), my evening out was cancelled, interest rates have gone up again and I've just got in the door after the 40 bus decided to "have a change" outside the bike shop in Camberwell, before getting snarled up bu other considerate drivers at the green junction - but that wasn't too bad because I had plenty to listen to from the selection of phones around me. I forgot to get milk on the way back and as I came I hear the phone ringing so I ran to it and got you. Do you want to hear about all of this in detail or do you just want to assure me this isn't a sales call -

Tillie This is so one of my bugbears. And I'm sure MrsMac thinks it's some "dodgy" phone call I registerd at the website above which says allow 28 days for calls to stop but they by and large stopped within 10 days. I still get the odd one tho... It's like they find new ways to spam I did read a very very long article in the paper once (hang on let me have a root around...ah) http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1604664,00.html About the other side of the coin and I never try and be rude but just.... WHY!!!!! There must be people who buy this stuff for it to be profitable - do these people have a vote?? -
Are there any scientologists in our midst?
