  1. Hadn?t notice that issue ? but I think if I make tea myself I?m happier with it. Leaving it to others means the water is never hot enough IMO, and the result is just weak meh-ness
  2. Old Woolwich near crossing by Londis: A new boarded-up door has appeared! Can this mean something??? Old Chopsticks on LL: Definitely saw someone working there the other day... Anyone know who's taken it on? My understanding is it is to be a veggie restaurant connected to SMBS. There is new signange in place, hidden by a canvas Old offices opp. Blue Mountain Cafe on NX Rd: I see a 'Sold' sign has gone up. Am pathetically excited at the prospect this might become a shop or shops as it's such a big site. Anyone heard who's bought/rented it? Premises next to flower shop near Goose Green: Is this still to be a dentist? It's taking forever. Old stationer's near Goose Green: I gather from elsewhere on the forum this is to be a second-hand clothes shop? Can anyone confirm this? This is correct Old Threshers shop on LL: Sadly, no signs of life in this one at all... Ditto the old video shop, presumably too early to know who's taking on this premises yet (if anyone). Video shop is on a VERY expensive lease ? suspect it will be a chain if anything
  3. PS ? I?m not advocating killing foxes on sight. I?m happy so one in the garden etc etc. But they are vermin, they breed in the wild and some sort of culling is not beyond the pale. And if people have too many in their garden and want rid of them how is that different from having a mice or rat infestation?
  4. Ah - seems it's illegal to lay poison, but not to kill them foxes
  5. I know foxhunting is illegal - but is killing foxes in your own garden illegal too? pearson is clearly demented, and I wouldn't ring the RSPCA because I suspect he is all talk, but if you do have a fox problem, how is it different to any other vermin problem?
  6. ach - you just sore because you lost At home Just like Spurs
  7. to be fair I have only read this much Cable Speech preview
  8. Reading the wider text of the speech, it doesn?t seem as alarming as you are making out Mick. He is condemning capitalist models per se, rather the current excesses Every succesful capitalist society has had some regulations ? none have a completely free-market approach. So he is saying some of the excesses need to be restrained. Like the housing markets, it?s all well and good until first-time buyers can no longer play, as the money consolidates towards the top ? at which point it starts to eat itself. So saying ?capitalism kills competition? ? left to it?s own devices, it does. Look at the media in this country and the concentration in Murdoch?s hands ? is that healthy?
  9. Sorry bn. I wasn't meaning to spoil anything. I have a bit of west ham in me and want them to do well. Winning games begets winning games. Season starts here?
  10. I see your friends take the same attitude to punctuality that you do Katie. ;-)
  11. West ham fans to complain about cup distraction non-shocker!
  12. Sheesh. I google something about rennet and I find a post from last year on another forum, about the same subject, from wee quinnie. Ooh walkers crisps are out as well.
  13. Rosie - don't make me go all Jack Nicholson on yo' ass WQ - agree with you completely in your PS. But the point about the book, although obviously true is moot. There wouldn't be enough non-vegetarians who would buy the book to make it viable. I reckon anyway
  14. ah yes that story - but that was more of a Clarkson type "joke" than an actual recipe It's boorish and silly but I'm not sure it's factually: " it was discovered that Gordon Ramsay's soup deemed suitable for vegetarians contained chicken stock,"
  15. Rosie - I basically agree with you and WQ about what constitutes a real vegetarian BUT I doubt Jamie Oliver would be publishing a book if it was only going to sell to real vegetarians. s'true...
  16. I was first in Rosie ;-) Have you got a link to that Ramsay story, I've not heard about it
  17. But there is no single definition of vegetarian is there? Not amongst the vegetarians I know.. I dare say WQ is the most correct but I know plenty who are less that fussy. They won't eat slabs of flesh but will happily shrug when told about wine production or rennet in cheeses. But they will insist they are vegetarian. I'd even guess that most vegetarians are relaxed about it enough to be the core audience for the Oliver book
  18. man - that's a lot of cross-posting!
  19. it's the rennet Jah, not the cheese itself But rennet is used in so many things. What about red wine - how does that sit with vegetarians?
  20. it takes me about 20 mins from east dulwich grove on the 37 bus - so it does depend on where in ED you are
  21. True, but I tend to find the more changes I make on a journey the more prone to going downhill it is Narnia, I sympathise. I don't think there is any easy way to get to or from hammesrmith. What about the overground from Clapham Junction to Shep Bush and then a walk/bus hop to hammersmith?
  22. I wonder if anyone who ever gets or asks for a pay rise tells their boss - "no don't worry mate, I earn enough and I've earmarked some savings in the household budget"
  23. yeah because hospital car parking hasn't generated ANY fuss has it?? I don't see the letter in question hitting nation press like car parking charges
  24. Ladymuck - your post at 11:46 is well out of order. For someone so keen to accuse Keef of creating ill-feeling, there are enough posts from the people he named over the last couple of pages to create plenty of ill-feeling Instead of high-horses let's talk about mountains and mole-hills. The few (often hypothetical) negatives people have raised about the letter in question are in effect very small beer compared to the bigger issues. But going around calling people "bizarre" for saying as much isn't likely to engender much good feeling yourself And as for people according Keef's opinions respect - he and I have often clashed on here, but as he has been here from the year dot, posted more than anyone else, any one of us can get a general vibe of where Keef is coming from, and no matter how many times I clash with him, I respect his opinions regardless. The same can't be said for everyone else
  25. Lovely ideals but impractical. Back in the real world... And you are saying there is a move from funding to charity. There isn't. Not yet anyway. With the most Nhs committed left wing labour govt there would still be a need for extra funds
