Exactly !!! With everyone rushing to say he is playing a character I started to think I was going mad Ok, my or Huguenot?s opinion isn?t going to prove anything ? but if it happened to be the case that Clarkson really doesn?t believe what he comes out with, does that change his supporters? viewpoint?

Blimey Piers ? what next? ?Homeopathy: I?ve been too harsh? I don?t see there is as much militant atheism around as is being claimed. I?ve certainly never understood why Dawkins (irrlevant or not) is so often described as aggressive. If the papal visit is attracting ire, then surely we can see that it?s more to do with the (at last) realisation of how much power that church have brandished to keep abuses quiet. If people are now questioning where all that authority comes from, it?s hardly militant And surely one doesn?t have to look as far as the states to see religion being out of hand. The Free State across the Irish Sea is still struggling to escape the death-grip of a moribund ideology If people think the UK has some kind of monopoly in having a go at the Catholic Church they should pop over to the Republic of Ireland fairly soon - that place is livid with them! -

Just adding a bit to say I didn?t intend that to become a paper Y versus paper X argument. But it?s fallacious to say they are the same thing or will have similar outcomes -

I'm with you most of the way there quids - I see a lot of bandwagoning going on with this papal visit and I'm not that keen (I do like the protestors holding up "down with this sort of thing" placards tho - top Father Ted reference) But I don't think you can compare Hamza (isolated strange idiot) with the global head of such a huge church, whose teachings ARE adhered to by many millions, and many of whom will die because of it Nor will any Catholics be physically attacked during all the protests against the pope - whereas the Sun stirring up hatred against old Hooky genuinely does raise tensions. I would much rather be a Catholic anywhere in London this week, that I would be a Muslim living around West Ham when the Sun does a number -

A few people on here and many people generally like to make the point (and I paraphrase) ?you wouldn?t attack the muzzers religion like you do Christianity/Catlicks? And every time I think ?what does that even MEAN?? Firstly, many people do attack Islam ? that MIGHT be why you saw that palaver about the Danish Cartoonist for example. Or why Chris Morris Four Lions is in the cinema/on DVD But if there is a reluctance amongst western media to criticise Islam in quite the same way is it because a) we don?t know it as intimately as we know our own religion and/or b) we know that people who criticise Islam are often the subject of pretty serious threats So mainly what it says to me is ?ooh I wish we nice Christians could get as cross as the Muslims and actually attack people who dare criticise our religion!? Or have I got that wrong? -
navy blue, with a white-shirt, ashleeeeee *Bob* ;-) Now TODAY I'm in black Despite all Scott?s worries about deadlines it all came together rather well last night ? great to see that place busy and as *Bob* says free booze and food is a winner all round. I?m liking relocation of the toilets, allowing a cosier space in the corner ? one of the (many) problems with the Uplands was the general lack of ambience.

That was my first thought as well Atticus. LadyMacGabhann has been done a couple of times in the past this way Basically, when using a cashpoint, once you have entered your pin, don?t get distracted until you have the card and the cash back in your hands. Not sure when the two idiots started on you last night - if it was before you entered your pin then I suspect they were just bulling for a fight ? but if it was during or after then yeah they were probably angling for cash Not news tho ? cashpoints have been a target for aeons. Glad you are ok And it?s not a London thing ? happens everywhere

So of all the characters a gifted comic can play, that's the one? Really???? S'rubbish innit

That'll be where I differ - I genuinely do believe he means what he says and would say more if he didn't work for the BBC. And Piers don't be silly - I never suggested women were "easy" - I said easy targets and his tired old sexist crap is the easiest of targets and Lee picks on "those to whom no one will stick up for, except the targets themselves"?? Well if you think Littlejohn, Clarkson et al have no-one to stick up for them, I must be living in a different world. Those guys have audiences of millions upon millions. With several people on thsi very thread sticking up for them
-
Well Loz, that?s in interpretation Both have to make a living, that?s true ? and both express, pretty much, their beliefs to do it I don?t know you can say either plays to either left or right wing audiences ? plenty of my left-leaning friends love Top Gear and Clarkson. If they both have ?targets? then it?s probably worth listing who those targets are Clarkson: people with disabilities, women, the poor etc Lee: The lunatic fringes of religion, Richard Littlejohn, jeremy Clarkson And we can see a theme there can?t we? One picks on the defenseless or easy targets and one picks on those who pick or prey on the defenseless and easily targeted So yes they are the same. You know? just like burglars yeah? They are the SAME as the police!! They are! They just work different hours?

Is the 484 the worst bus service in London ?

But in the scenario you quote, what decision would you make on the day to keep buses running? -

DJ ? I?m not suggesting the elderly and infirm cast off their support and walk. I had made the assumption that it was a given I was talking about any able-bodied person As for the bus ?companies publish a timetable and they should stick to it ? that?s ridiculously high-handed. It assumes that there is a bus company out there being lazy and feckless with it?s timetable when any study of traffic (and the link below is a doozy) http://www.amazon.com/Traffic-Drive-What-Says-About/dp/0307264785 will show you just how much work is put into trying to do this. But surely you can see that a city the size of London, with the various traffic flows, jams, passenger demands etc etc will cause any timetable to be aspirational -it?s not like a train which runs on rails.. it?s shares space with many other factors -

Well a bus company is that ? a bus company ? not a door to door taxi service. Perhaps you live on a road which has relatively low demand and the bus company is allocating it?s resources efficiently. And I wasn?t intending to condescend to you ? it is genuinely surprisng the number of people who only know their ?route? and don?t investigate options. -
oh for the love of... Van we stop squabbling and stick to the subject please? Alan - I suspect the performance of the Camberwell station will dictate the possible extension further south - they are rolling it out in stages so it's wait and see

Geez Louise I wasn't asking for your address! - Just the general area I have lived at the top end of Friern Road and along East Dulwich Grove - which are pretty far apart and I've never had a problem - If I had the possibility of standing at Camberwell Green for 45 minutes I would either: a) walk to ED b) get the first bus towards Ed and get off at nearest P bus stop there But you are beginning to sound like you are making a stubborn point and not trying to solve any particular issue -

Berryberry Can I ask where you live as I can?t see any need to wait for either P service if you live in ED ? Surely any bus up Lordship Lane, Barry Road or Peckham Rye will get you to a short walk from your door? -
not quoting - homaging. Badly

I hope he drives his car into a tree, where his leg gets stuck under the wheel. Hopefully in a remote countryside spot where there is no reception so he remains unfound for days. Before he dies of starvation, a bird will come to visit him and pluck at his eyballs for nourishment Eventually Richard Hammond and James May will go on a search for him and find him. But instead of being upset, Hammond will start to giggle uncontrollably - like a schoolboy that has been bullied for years and had to pretend everything the bully did was cool, who now finds his tormentor is no more What??? hey if he can dish it out, he can take it

I couldn?t disagree with this statement more. I could try, but I would fail No, it?s not perfect. But getting around South London is a breeze these days (compared to even 10 years ago). If I had unlimited money available I?m not sure I could improve it enough to make you change your mind I travel into the City every day. The West end several times a month. I travel around South London most days as well. Given the amount of traffic on the road it?s pretty darn good
