  1. What Loz said It's do-able but they fleece you for it.
  2. Which reminds me of danny Baker?s campaign to get him back playing live in London The Dame at the Dome for a Dime
  3. I don't really expect people to have heard it. I was making a play on the link between Ireland and Liverpool when I said that
  4. It is indeed true. Mentioned elsewhere on here i think
  5. Ah yes. Revolution. That historical harbinger of equality, peace and harmony
  6. Nah. Calling an idiot an idiot. If wilshere turns out to have been a scut in this case (regardless of whether he gets off or not). I'll happily say so
  7. Mory oxon. I like that!! Wordplay. Another human trait I like
  8. Daily mail CCTV shots? No further questions your honor You'll be showing the gerrard punch video next
  9. A scut Irish word Liverpudlians must know it! See definition 6 http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=scut
  10. And just so we are all clear on this. Stevet's regular nihilistic posts are what makes me worried to be alive
  11. Jesus. Scoring cheap tribal points on something like this? The details of the gerrard thing were known pretty quickly and he did it. Because he is a scut
  12. They charge you? They let me in for spanners.... ;-) Bht whatever they charge, any kind of licence enforcement is going to see it closed down, not made safer
  13. A bit presumptuous no? If I was walking down LL on a Saturday night and had a bunch of people throw cans of (oooh I dunno, G&T) over me and my missus and someone (maybe you Matthew?) interevened to balance the situation would I say you were starting a fight? We don't know all the details on this one yet but from what we do know it sounds like people are rushing to condemn him for the wrong reasons. He's no Anderson smashing his own car after a late nite club is he?
  14. see many threads passim candp - not a nice thing to have happen But not sure if you were NEAR a kebab shop what security you want as part of their license? No one (well....) deserves to have anything thrown at them but we all probably know there are times when it's more likely? The reason it happened is little to do with security or license and more to do with a prevailing culture I hope that doesn't sound like I'm being unsympathetic - but a kebab shop is unlikely to generate enough dosh to pay for bouncers. More likely the place would get closed down
  15. That's rather PeckhamRose's point LM... There is no question that DJKQ's point about humankind making a rod for it's own back has merit, but it's way too fatalistic to say it's that which defines humanity We are so infinitely complex and yet capable of lowest common denominator behaviour that it can make you nuts to think about it But there are plenty of people trying to make things better (in their own small way) - far more than I need to make living a joy Unlike PR I don't see my life as ruled by or trapped by politicians and rich people. Blaming politicians is widespread but is only lazy shorthand for us not doing what we think should be done ourselves. If there has ever been a better system of society than modern democracy (for all it's many many many MANY failings) then I'd like to live in it (and I mean the reality not a romantic historic gloss) No other species (that we currently know of) will hear a piece of music, see a painting or film and experience the richness of emotions that we feel. If the only good thing that happened in my 41 years to date on this planet was to hear or see (and let's pick a random example- every one of us has millions of them - ) Dennis Potter final TV interview I'm already up on the deal in a way that non-humans just can never be
  16. me too - it's why I don't consider myself a gastronome. I'm way too fussy and squeamish. I'm way better than I was but still an embarrassment But Huguenot has beaten me to most of the points I was going to make You can find definitions of gastronomy that fit with high end vegetarian food but my feeling about what gastronomy is is similar to the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastronomy I don't know if this represents the "tyranny of the meat eater" as expressed in another thread You can make a a good argument that gastronomy is wasteful and unsustainable and the rest of it - I'm certainly not closed on those arguments. But vegetarian cooking by definition precludes too many things for me to consider it gastronomic - in some ways I would have thought it would be proud of that fact
  17. I thought Mathew is from up north himself? Which makes him qualified to speak on the subject And burger king burgers are rankness beyond redemption.
  18. Not Gastronomic... But catering to a demographic Wq.. I was outside that very restaurant a few months back but wasn't tempted in. Nice rooms above tho
  19. And as I said above there are many many tasty veggie dishes. But I see wee quinnie has started a separate thread. Good idea. She is lovely and I wouldn't want to be disrespectful to her
  20. All those creatures that look so happy at 3am in the morning? They are engaged in a daily fight for food, shelter and avoiding predators. It's a short and brutal life for even the lucky ones Humans have the ability to organise complex societies which attempt to allay the worst of inequalities and which , relay concepts, appreciate art and esoteria. There are of course humans who dismiss anything other than a brutal struggle as poncey nonsense - they are a HOOT to be around
  21. Same o sound as in jones. Obviously
  22. What? Suggesting gastronomy and vegetarian food are not bedfellows There are many many tasty veggie dishes but gastronomic? No disrespect intended but no
  23. oxymoron alert
  24. In Bruges is in c4 tonight Don't be a fackin caant. Watch it
