  1. adey - you sound like you might be going to End of the Road this year as well, judging by your selections
  2. You would have to convince me that Greece, pre-membership, was some idyll where the economy was tickety-boo and the workers weren't striking regularly before you can make a genuine link No question the whole process is in trouble, but that shouldn't mean it's not a struggle worth having. When I see the United States revert back to their own currencies and non-integration, then I'll be convinced that this isn't a good thing
  3. Like an itch I keep coming back to this thread to see if I can divine some new information which will make it clear to me what is upsetting people... But no. Just some buses. Sometimes they have to be driven around. First lady diana dies and now this..
  4. I hear you and largely agree quids, but I still say that's bean counting and not health and safety. Corporate HQ will always take a risk-averse strategy (it's one of my beefs with major chains)
  5. mea culpa apologies and new, more specific thread can be found here
  6. Stephen Fry recently contributed to a debate about the church - as a raised Catholic myself I found it to be excellent You can see it here I posted it in the God thread but that wasn't quite right so at PGC's request, a new thread ici (although you can view opposing points already expressed on this subject in that thread)
  7. 1966 - later than I thought, but still predating the BNP by 16 years. And it's a different language
  8. Well the bank did have the name first to be fair
  9. I imagine the Blackfriars assessment had more to do with the redevelopment of the station(s) there instead of some master plan as you suggest
  10. Tarot - do you usually take action based on what a "friend tells you" - or do you question things first?
  11. funny, but not the Lounge. My glass of water has started to vibrate - I suspect The Chair is a comin...
  12. I doubt elfn safety has anything to do with it Atila Far more to do with the risk of parents of a child suing the store for.. oooh I dunno, having floors that are too hard or something. So nobody from a government agency or internal tesco's "health and safety" is preventing this - but accountants at the firm have asessed the likelyhood of being sued by customers and advised staff to not let it get that far So blame the customer, not elf n safety
  13. where is the EDT?
  14. was it a like-minded audience? I thought this was just his part of a debate with Widdecombe on the other side - so I imagine the audience was fairly split As Piers says, repeating truths doesn't diminish them and I thought it was as concise and eloquent a summary as I've seen
  15. or at least teh bike being stolen Did you make it on time to the town hall is the real question?
  16. Isn't encoding and copy protection being removed from digital formats? Apple had it and then removed it from their iTunes tracks didn't they?
  17. Declan one of these should be the fellow basically it's going from the headphone socket in your tape player to the audio in socket on the laptop/pc - they are usually 3,5 but if you are going from a big deck you might have a bigger headphone socket But I would suggest the Carnell method as a better bet quality wise If you say what albums you are after people on here may already have them as well..
  18. I'm using Chrome as well but not had this error once if I'm honest Over to admin...
  19. Possibly quite a few people will have seen this already, but a wonderful speech Stephen Fry on the Catholic Church (not Catholics per se)
  20. that story reads quite differently to the headline you put up there KK The fact that he CAN wear the uniform, just not at certain times, suggests the original reason for the asbo is a bit more involved than asbo-gone-mad type headlines
  21. indeed *Bob* I wondered back then if anyone could afford the Kempston option - twas always keyboard for me. Which was no use for Knightlore I can tell you
  22. Hmm. Good responses all. Maybe it was Blairs involvement which made me so irked but yeah on reflection storm in a teacup sounds about right
  23. About 15-20 minutes from east dulwich grove. But rush hour? Allow a tad more.
  24. They certainly aren't in as much financial shite as man utd and I'll be interested to see where we are comparitaveley in 3 years time arshaving a good buy tho? Hmmmm
  25. Hmmmm i DO know what you are getting at jimmy. But I think he is the opposite of arrogant. He would dearly love to buy a couple of big names. But they aren't easy to procure even with all heaps o cash. But he is taking a long term financial view if arsenal which will stand us in good stead. Unlike, say, politicians, bankers or other football managers he isn't willing to spend silly money for potential short term success. He is, I think, to be applauded for this. Much as our obvious deficiencies currently hurt to witness
