  1. I did wonder about a "Pret a Manger"....very LL if you ask me..B)
  2. It's the shot of them shaking hands after the game which would be the real collector's piece >:D
  3. Can I just point out that for 19 minutes on Sunday afternoon Sheffield United were in a play-off place? :)) As they did not make it I hope Palace do....and the opening televised game of 2008/9 will then be Palace v Liverpool/Colin v Benitez...
  4. Blackbird sells fine bread-making flour in 2.5K sacks... As for Kindred, it's all doqn to personal taste I suppose. On any day but Saturday they have the best baguettes (available too at Romeo Jones) and their crusty white loaves are gorgeous... (On Saturdays the baguettes in Mootown in the EDW still rool!)
  5. Well since both the Upper Norwood & Forest Hill branches closed I'd not have thought LL was fertile territory for McD....nor which currently empty site would be big enough for them.
  6. There's also one I saw today on Tintagel Crescent close by the "Mind Shop" - it looks suspiciously stencilled to me
  7. It's not Nunhead Cemetery though! :))
  8. I wonder if Elano would appeal to Wenger? With all the nonsense happening at Manc City, sacking Ericsson after their best season in ages and all, there may be quite a few talents anxious to sever their - hehe - Thais...
  9. >>He doesn't have a collar but he is microchipped, not sure how effective this is though.<< I think microchips are vital for cats in ED - much more important than collars really. One of our cats was returned from his wanderings three times entirely because of his chip. The first time he had travelled over half a mile - a long way in such a densely-built area: the last time we had a phone call even before he was actually missing(!) Hope he is soon home anyway!
  10. Actually, how many of the "bakeries" in ED are/will be "bread shops"? Do any have a bakery somewhere on the premises, as Kindred does in Herne Hill?
  11. ...A larger version of the lesser carbuncle at the junction of Overhill & Underhill Roads, which has remained empty for months and months, and no doubt enhances the view of the cemetery opposite...>:D
  12. This is excellent news! Look forward to calling in often
  13. So will it be another French midfielder, or Bentley perhaps? or even, FX* picks up wooden spoon* a Mr Gerrard? :))
  14. I see Flamini has already upped sticks to Milan...
  15. The polling station at the Baths on East Duwich Road (not "Grove" :))) has always been accessed by the Crystal Palace Road door. I am guessing there was a map too on the polling card showing precise directions on how to access it??
  16. The real Tony would never take money upfront (nor would any reputable window cleaner) - and he is well aware and totally pissed of by this guy himself. Real Tony drives a pale green metallic Mondeo estate with his ladder(s)on top (which we sold to him!)
  17. The tree in Peckham Rye Park (close to the Forest Hill/Colton gate) which, because of a grafting in the long distant past, has two shades of blossom on it each spring, pink and white.
  18. I am pretty sure you do have to use your allocated polling station - as only there will they be able to cross you off the list of electors they will have in front of them. Can you imagine the scope for multiple voting were it otherwise? :))
  19. >>Well done you Red Men - you made me proud:D< And yes, the Champions League is not the Holy Grail it used to be. I think opening it up to more teams - i.e. not just the league champions of each country as was originally the case - was also a major contributor. There is (cue old fogey mode *on*) simply far too muich money washing around in Football these days....
  20. Well as a neutral I thought this evening's game was breathtaking, although clearly both the tension and the really grotty weather made it hard for any kind of elegant play. The extra time was amazing....I have no idea why that "goal" was disallowed for "offside" though. And Liverpool should have had a penalty when Hyppia was brought down - indeed the referee all but signalled for one. I did enjoy the excessive exuberance of Drogba's celebration of his first goal right in front of Benitez's bench...:))
  21. Lincolnshire sausages from Sparkes tonight - not yet decided whether to have mash or chips. As for stews/casseroels, they always improve if you make them the day before they are eaten! In fact I have several in the freezer, all made in quantity over various weekends.>:D<:)-D:))
  22. I thought Man U were a bit lucky....Barcelona made that one awful error and Scholes duly punished it to spectacular effect. Messi was brilliant, Henry was good for the 15 minutes he had, and quite a few Barcelona shots came very close indeed. Van der Saar's (sp.?) kicking was erratic and Ronaldo was pretty well snuffed out. Still, they are bound to be better in Moscow. I hope it is Liverpool too, but my head says Chelski - if it is they will have home advantage...B)
  23. >>Can never stop loving the Hammers though, and may go a bit more often when I haven't got a wedding/honeymoon to pay for.<< Good God man! Where's your sense of priorities??!! :))
  24. >>Back to important things - the Chamionship promotion/play-off race. Will Watford continue to lose to crap sides? Yes! Will Palace inexplicably fail to beat Burnley? Yes! Will Ipswich trounce Hull, << I could live with that prognosis as long as Wolves fail to win and Sheffield United win too. We tend to do well against Ipswich in the playoffs :)) But if United miss the boat then I hope Colin makes it with Palace - who could possibly want to miss the Palace/Liverpool fixtures next season?! P.S. Ipswich v Hull is live on Sky....
  25. >There is no reason why a person should support a particular team, the only rule should be that they stick with that team >through good times and bad, and NEVER EVER change their team. :D
