  1. Now watched it all on MOTD - the Torres goal was just sublime...oozed pure class. I fear for Man City next season though under their new owner....and Fulham again pull off a great escape. Who knew having Hugh Grant in the crowd could be so inspirational? :)) *Sulk Mode* 38 points would have got Sheffield United 15th place this season *end sulk mode* :))
  2. I don't remember seeing any sweets!!!! (6)
  3. So well done then the United of Manchester...but what on earth happened to City today?!
  4. Well, having seen the piece in today's "Observer" about how in Cornwall grey squirrels are being used to make Cornish Pasties, and are indeed now regarded as "game" (a naturally sweet meat, because of all the nuts and berries they eat apaprently) and flying off (sic) deli shelves at ?3.50 each, it can surely but be a matter of time before a local entrepreneur does the obvious...:))
  5. Blimey what with all the outside tables of the various catering establishments along that end of Lordship Lane being packed out it was like Brighton sea front on a sunny bank holiday! The Fair was great value - too late for the home-made cakes - but the Blue Mountain banana cake was nice. Astonishingly long queues for the donkeys and the bouncy-thing. It seemed like every family in SE22 was there. I hope the weather is as good for the one in Dulwich Park next Sunday - isn't that the one where they are having the Mad Hatter's thing though? Oh and I did pick up some stuff from the Open Rights Group stall as well :)) - and sampled the lovely bread, olive oil and ham on the Locale one...mmmm>:D< Kudos to the EDT for allowing 8 million people access to their toilets...:))
  6. The Birds of Prey are fun too - I still have a pic of me trying hard not to look panic-stricken at the Nepalese Eagle owl perched haughtily on my wrist. It's also a bit like wandering around one of the better Hammer House of Horror sets..."The Tomb of Ligeia" perhaps?
  7. I smell a troll.....the written english is of too low a standard B)
  8. >>>I spotted someone shopping on Lordship Lane in a bikini top, vest and hot pants >>> He must have looked a right tit....:))
  9. Popped in. Bought some of their gorgeous small savour flans as well as a bag of flour. Also looks a great alternative to St*rF*cks when staggering back from Sainsburys in desperate need of an espresso...
  10. >>And let us not forget the great Brian Deane!! << How could I have overlooked him?! three times a blade! Now then..."Colin"....rearrange the letters of "Neil Warnock" into another two word name, the forename of which is Colin?? As there are (reputedly? B)) ladies who read this thread then a nod should be as good as a wa- wink right? The nickname was first coined by his enemies but was then taken over by his fans and even the Great Man himself!
  11. I think it was Crosse & Blackwell - although the parent compnay may well have been bought by Heinz at a later date.
  12. Dammit the bastards at the Telegraph excised my sentence where I revealed she was a "he" and a retired brickie from Penge...So much for our wonderful free press! >>Surely you're confusing it with the Daily Diana( Express) aren't you *Bob*.<< Quite right. Express = Diana: Telegraoh = Liz Hurley (or have they now moved on to Carla Bruni??)
  13. David I am sure losing Hulse & Kilgallon to us stuck in your throat. But it has long been the case that these two teams have raided one another when one of them is thriving and the other isn't. I recall Mick Jones, Tony Currie and Alex Sabella all going North. It was nice to have a bit of revenge as only in recent years has the balance tipped our way.>:D< Yes, United v United would be a sell-out at both venues I think - and I hope if it comes off Sky do the decent thing and show one of them live at least! As for Kevin Blackwell, there was a school of thought when he was with us that he, more than Colin, was responsible for us getting to two cup semi-finals, the play-off final and 3rd place in the Championship in the same season - immediately after which these two had their falling out and KB went off to Leeds. This season he effectively took over Robson's team and kicked their arses. Now he has the three year contract it will be interesting to see who he buys/sells in the summer and how things go from August. Should Leeds not get promotion have you any recommendations/fears as to who he might swoop on? :))
  14. Oh well done.....the article itself was splendid, the comments (some of them anyway) unintentionally hilarious. I too have sent a comment - how could one possibly resist?! - and hope it gets past the wielders of the red ink pen in the DT's Censorship/Legal Department....
  15. >>Ahh come one SimonM, we all know you're running scared. << Not quite scared, but you are quite right :)) - I'd rather we were competing in the Championship againbs Doncaster than Leeds. Matt Kilgallon had a great season - if only our other main cenral defended Chris Morgan had his speed and did not keep gettings yellows and reds! Rob Hulse not so good. He came back from that long-term injury he picke dup at Chelsea last season but has not yet regained his sharpness. But perhaps, as a striker and a talented one at that, he just needs more time. However if we manage to hang on to James Beattie it would not surprise me at all if Blackwell let Hulse move on as we are actually quite well off for strikers - Sharp, Stead, Shelton and even Danny Webber. After starting with 2 draws and an abyssmal defeat Blackwell's record was 27 points from 14 games - if united had sustained hat throughout we would have walked back to the Premier. We also topped the Championship for home attendances. So one way or another the pressure will be om KB to engineer a flying start to next season - expectations are (possibly unreasonably) high...
  16. I watched the whole thing too and was riveted. It must have cost a fortune to make and yet none of the excellent actors was familiar to me - perhaps they are much better known in Italy? Have no copy of the last episode I'm afraid, but I'd be surprised if this did not get a repeat on either BBC2 or BBC1 at a later date. It would certainly stand a second viewing...
  17. > Oh I shall watch too, and I hope Leeds win. I'd really like a Leeds v Doncaster final, with Donny consigning Leeds to League 1 for at least another season :)) And yes I too yearn for an "ignore" facility here....(no names no packdrill, you know who you fucking are you ******!)
  18. Personally I am still agonising over the Foxtons/McDonald's dilemma. Which would I/do I loathe the least? Which is the lesser of two weevils? Would discarded Big Mac wrappers be a greater palsy than the current outbreak of Minishitemobiles? These are deep waters, Watson....
  19. >>>Can I just say, what a relief it is to have a soccer free summer. << Ahahahahaha!!! Wait until you see the ITV schdules for next month!
  20. >>Come on you Eagles!<< Yes! Big up your local side! And love him or hate him, Colin cannot fail to add to the entertainment value of a somewhat jaded Premier League...:))
  21. >>bloody brilliant they were too. "Ossie's going to Wembley, his knees have gone all trembly, la la la la, la la la la."<< ..and Villa's amazing goal in the Final replay still gets shown again and again! :))
  22. Harry Ramsdens....>:D
  23. >>On the subject of Managers buying too many foreigners, wassnt it our own dear Harry who started the whole trend (with >>some horrendous signings) after the 94 world cup? Remeber Florin 'Kings Rd Shopper' Raducioiu?<<< I thought Ardiles & Villa were the imports that got the ball rolling?
  24. I must spring - lithe as a gazelle! - to the defence of Roullier White! It is an excellent local source for cafetiere spares....Cafetieres are essential for urban survival but they do tend to have a high mortality rate, jug-wise: at least around here.
