  1. >>I do hope so Anna, we don't want a load of blue in our trophy cabinet<< What's a "trophy cabinet"?? :'(
  2. >>"Aluminium" I think that most Americans pronounce it as "aluminum" << That's because they spell it that way though...

There's been a Hooters in Interlaken for some years. I would have thought ED was far too suburban for them!
  4. >>WHAT - I agree with the Cream before Jam, but replacing the butter... oh what a bad thing to do in this healthy world... we need as much fatty deposits as possible on our Scones << But.....cream and butter (and I do agree it has to be clotted cream :))) are essentially the same thing.... I remember somone once telling me that the absolute horriblest dish he had every encountered was a three-egg omelette....with 3 fried eggs laid lovingly along it...
  5. I think you have to blame the Beeb for this one - the guy who read the football results always referred to "Shrowsbury Town"...
  6. But you should know that even contemplating such a scenario offers a hostage to fate! :))
  7. >>If we beat Chelsea again in the semis, does that mean we get to keep them? << Hubris........:))
  8. Not goon anywhere...our scuns are down?
  9. >>Jam!!!!! And it's scOnes, like stones. Not bloody scon, there's an e for a reason!:D
  10. >>u saying that she wouldn't be likely to read a snippet in a mag of a similar nature about herself? :-| >sheesh you become a celeb u take the comments that go wiv it *sighs*<< Oh come on! There are "celebrities" in the modern form - Kerry Katona, Katie Price, anyone who ever appeared in "Big Brother" etc etc - who are talentless and whose whole raison d'etre is appearing in trashy magazine and crap chat shows. They are in reality probably not as famous as they like to imagine they are. And there are those who have merely become "famous" at some point in their lives - like Nesbiit & Ford - usually on merit (ok, "merit" can sometimes be quite broadly defined in this context). I am sure Ford & Nesbitt can take the sort of comments that occasionally get made on here. Their acquired thick skin is not the issue. I just don't agree it is acceptable to be gratuitously rude about someone and use their fame as the justification. Personally I don't think anyone should post any comments in here about a local person they would not hesitate to say to their face...
  11. >>What personal remarks/insults ?<< I must have imagined them I guess....:))
  12. It is beginning to look as if poor Ms Ford is to replace Mr Nesbitt as the EDF's favourite thespian whipping person. I know neither of them personally and have somewhat mixed feelings about their respective Teevee performances. But personal remarks/insults? Haven't we been here before in Another Thread about a certain shopkeeper in LL? Play the game people!
  13. Birmingham 1 v 1 Everton Bolton 0 v 2 West Ham Derby 1 v 1 Villa Reading 3 v 1 Fulham Sunderland 1 v 1 Man City Spurs 2 v 0 Middlesbrough Portsmouth 2 v 1 Newcastle Liverpool 3 v 0 Blackburn Man U 1 v 0 Arsenal Chelsea 3 v 0 Wigan It will be quite a task for Wenger getting his team up from the floor after last night,,,
  14. Arsenal must be kicking themsleves for losing after scoring such a brilliant second goal: massive loss of concentration or what? Well done Liverpool anyway - I hope they now reach the final at the very least! :))
  15. Well for once Liverpool start as favourites and Arsenal will be the underdogs. I am not sure this is a good or abad thing from Liverpool's point of view. To coin a cliche, the first goal will be vital. So we neutrals will hope for an early goal from Arsenal to live the tie up. However it looks like 0-0 to me.... Man Utd will be hoping to coast through their tie without getting any more central defenders injured. Chelsea should be able to get past Fenebahce... The main game of the week is tomorrow's Sheffield United v Sheffied W*dn*sd*y of course....>:D<
  16. Cafetiere...Illy coffee beans ground whilst the kettle is boiling...infuse for no more than 20 seconds before plunging. Pour out immediately.
  17. >>Gosh, I am sorry! I read something about James Nesbit and it just makes me see red...<< His racehorse won a race? :))
  18. Arsenal 1 v Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 2 v Bolton 1 Blackburn 2 v Tottenham 0 Fulham 0 v Sunderland 0 Man City 1 v Chelsea 1 Newcastle 3 v Reading 1 Wigan 1 v Birmingham 2 Everton 4 v Derby 0 Middlesbrough 0 v Man Utd 2 FA Cup: Barnsley 1 Cardiff 0 Portsmouth 2 West Brom 1
  19. >>Izzy/Meredith from Greys Anatomy> maybe Lynette/Bree from Desperates>, Cameron from House.<< Nono...House's boss...what's her name now?
  20. Oh and well done Fenerbahce! Turkey's answer to Barnsley!!
  21. At least the return game is now a straightforward matter. Arsenal "simply" have to go out to win :)). Had they won the home leg 2-1 (which would probably have been a "fairer" outcome) then there'd have been all manner of complicated permutations to consider next week. Liverpool must be pretty pleased but the tie is clearly still very much a live one! :))
  22. I remember the episode where Ros was dressed in a "WonderWoman " outfit....mmmm...tidy, lush etc :)) Only since then Emily Deschanel wore the same outfit in "Bones" and God I felt old...
  23. I am no great lover of Merde United but I have to say I always enjoy watching Ronaldo. He has immense skill and imagination and courage and keeps scoring amazing goals. The fact is many of his opponents do get away with a lot of fouls on him: last night two Roma players got yellow cards for fouling and it certainly could have been more. And yes the diving is somthing of a blemish on his record but the likes of Gerrard do it just as much. It is a feature of the modern game. Both at the time and (especially) now I am amazed anyone still holds the World Cup business against him. The only player who got Rooney sent off was Rooney. Indeed, Ronaldo did the gentlemanly, British thing of gallantly informing Wayne before kick-off that he was going to get him sent off. Poor Wayne, having been told in advance of the trap and not being overburdened with the little grey cells, still walked into it. No wonder Ronaldo winked - it is to his credit he did not fall over laughing. The tabloids and commentators exploded with righteous wrath of course. He may have unlikeable traits - but he is a young guy blessed with extraordinaty skills so it would be a miracle were he not arrogant beyond the point of obnoxiousness. I see some journalists are trying to draw comparisons between him and George Best. Best was magic on his day but his skills were never tested at a world cup final tournament: he could though be just as obnoxious as Christiano...
  24. The Dromeys lived (amd may still live) in Stradella Road in Herne Hill for many years.
