  1. Hi I'm looking for someone with a mower to come and tidy up our new garden. The grass needs cutting, general weeding and a good prune! Probably a good days work. We were in ED but have moved to SE12 so a bit further but can't find a more local forum to ask the same question! Thanks Nicky
  2. Could you send me your price list too? Do you travel to Lee - i'm moving in a few weeks!
  3. Hi all I'd love to be part of this. I'm on maternity leave to march and a big sewer (twomadels.blogspot.com!) and would love to learn how to knit & crochet! Nicky
  4. Hi Sanna I'm due in May too - dates to be confirmed at my scan on 2nd November - so will be less vague then! I'm at the feeling rotten stage and it all a bit surreal but looking forward to being able to share and talk about it. This will be baby 2 for me so it all feels very different than with my little boy who is now two. Happy to chat if you want! Nicky
  5. Ah just come across this thread - would love to have had a stall but away that weekend - let me know of any other events that are being planned! Nicky
  6. Bessemer Grange School is having a Grand Opening for its new Children's Centre on Monday 18th October from 3:15pm, come along and find out more about what's on offer and chat to the staff. I'm a governor for the school and just getting to grips with what our new Children's Centre will have to offer but hopefully our open day will help answer lots of questions better than I can!
  7. The Centre for Young Musicians has several different places which may be a good starting point: http://www.cym.org.uk/contact/locals.php
  8. Thanks all so helpful!! I think the childminder is my peferred route but no ideal response to my ad on the forum yet so any other ways to find them much appreciated and will check out the suggestions above.
  9. Hi all - your wordly advice and knowledge required! I'm back to work in June and need to sort out childcare for my little boy who will be coming up to 9 months old then. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will tell me Ive left it far to late - but i'm new to all this and the realities that the waiting lists are years long etc. are a bit of shock to be honest! So could people expain the difference between childminders and nanny share and what these are likely to cost? Any nurseries I should avoid? What sort of checks I can make on childminders and nurseries? And any other general pearls of wisdom you can share would be fab! Thanks Nicky
  10. Hi Reren Congratulations! I booked my NCT classes late (about 4 1/2 months!) and was told all ED were booked up round my due date do went to Herne Hill (above Prince Regent pub!) with Sarah for two full days and got lots from it - nothing overly evengalical - just useful! Since then our group has become closer and closer with the girls meeting with our babies weekly to do a fitness session and for coffee and cake and gossip. We've also got things in the diary for the next few months. As I don't have any firends close by with babies by new friends have been a life line to sanity. Good luck
  11. Hi and congratulations! My baby is now 14 weeks old and I think we're just cracking this baby lark! I was luck and my boyfirend split his paternity into two separate weeks with my mum staying the week in the middle and mum in law for the fourth week. this meant that after four weeks of having someone with me (and plenty of time for new nans to coo over baby) i'd tried all the new firsts with someone to help me - getting on the bus / train, breastfeeding at a cafe, shopping at the supermarket and going to to goose green NCT coffee mornings on Monday. By the time I was facing my first day alone I felt reasonably confident and quite keen to be independent! The bouncer in the shower room works for us and now baby is older I can actually leave the room for a couple of minutes to make a cup of tea and he doesn't notice as his toys are keeping his attention! Obviously what happens when he starts moving is another story... Good luck!
  12. Hi Heidi Congratulations - hope you are both getting on well. Sorry to hear it started so horribly but can only get better. I'm planning a home birth - due on 26th - so hopefully I can avoid situations as you decribe, if things don't go to plan I shall follow your lesson to trust my instincts and yell! Nicky
