as a change of pace there was a nice little opinion piece from Hayden Thorpe (of wild beasts fame) on life as a newcastle fan. http://thequietus.com/articles/16630-wild-beasts-hayden-thorpe-football-newcastle-united Although i found his last paragraph a bit depressing, i secretly harbour hopes that football will one day become a bit more normal, rather than more overblown being the only hope remaining for a team.
  3. and whilst I'm being a super spod, I've a bunch oif lifetime synergy promo licences to give away if anyone's interested. http://synergy-project.org/
  4. I realised we had a gaming one, but nothing for general spodness or boring questions and the like (they usually seem to spawn new threads of the I has blue screen, help, variety. Aaaanyway. Anyone on inbox yet? Just got my invite through this morning. It's clearly just a progression from wha tthey were doing with the mobile gmail app anyway, but now on browser too. Quite nice I must say, better than staring at the horror of spam on thunderbird, and a vast improbvement on the awful browser gmail interface. Plus flicking from inbox to facebook suddenly makes facebook look like a mid 90s website with wallpaper and flashing multicoloured fonts!!
  5. excellent, when in doubt cite "TERRORISTS!!!!!"
  6. I reckon if you're the type of cyclist who'll bleat on about how you don't need a helmet, you're probably far enough in that a mandatory law won't make a difference. And of course a drop in cycling uptake doesn't necessarily equate to a drop in exercise, there *are* other possibilities in this world you know ;) But overall my response to boardman is that I really don't...oooh....a shiny penny
  7. when that incarnation was closed for a refurb i just thought it'd be given a bit of TLC, maybe real books ;). I never really took to the yellow one or anything after that really, just too cold a space, in every sense.
  8. *ignores jibe* ;) He's lived in Tooting for a while. I brought him to his first Hamlet game last year and he was an instant convert, despite crossing the floor so to speak. He reckoned it was always a depressing affair at T&M!!
  9. if that couldn't survive the world would be doomed.....
  10. major refurb
  11. and just spotted the guy with the can punching the air is a guy i went to school with!!
  12. I can seeee youuuuu ;)
  13. Jay, he's no aiden grimshaw is he ;)
  14. is that tonight? I'm more with MM than with his wife. I can't think of a murder/mystery thriller that isn't contrived btw, it kind of goes with the territory, it's why it's called drama.
  15. Russell Brand says he's using his fame to promote a certain kind of politics. But really it's the other way round.— Tom Freeman (@SnoozeInBrief) November 3, 2014
  16. series finale of love/hate on sunday. has this made it across the straits at all? Followed by The Fall...wooo!!
  17. had my brother over for a few days and totally forgot this. plummet down the board, must have been a good week.
  18. I do hope they make a decent fist of a pub in the Dog though, it woud be criminal for it to end up like this:
  19. wot otta and sj said really. Dog erm, shit, so to speak. I never really liked the HM, it always seemed to be half the pub it shold be, and with stiff competition in the area somthing needs to give. Plus I'm pretty sure it's closure was the catalyst for some of the regulars ending up down Champion Hill and forming the core of what is now known as the rabble!! I lived round the corner from the FoH, and whilst rarely bustling it always had enough people to make a smaller place seem busy. Beer is good and cheap, only dowsnide is it vaguely smells of death,
  20. It's at the very least superfluous. Either it's not an unreasonable price or it's a lie. Whichever, it's useless, a bit like women (apparently).
  21. muphry's law in action!!

as my mate said, keano, the gift that keeps on giving http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/other-soccer/roy-keane-paul-scholes-was-too-lazy-to-do-interviews-at-united-maybe-there-is-more-money-in-it-for-him-now-30705655.html?utm_source=indoshare&utm_medium=socialoremail&utm_campaign=indoshare though im inclined to agree with him on this.
  25. I really like her, but i have to dip into it, else that deadpan, which works brilliantly for her storytelling, kind of gets to me after a bit. you need intermittent antidotes
