You can never resist a good patronisation can you ;-/ Admittedly I don't wander around the academies and boardrooms myself and am not talking from first hand experience, so I'll happily defer to your persoanl knowledge if my sources of info are mistaken; I was merely echoing the thoughts of those in and around the game that I read in the press, and all are recently expressed.

Trams are evil. I lived in Amsterdam for a while and still bear the pyschological scars!!!!!

Parkdrive, I think you're missing the point. That Dutch side was always going to be a class apart, these are players who have not only the skill, but the experience and have genuinely achieved at all the top levels of the game. All we could hope for was a learning experience. RD is spot on in saying that we should also use the Euros as a learning process and not hype up the competition or our hopes. Also lets ditch the grandees unless their performances are compelling enough for selection. Lets look to the future. If that team get a collective 300 caps under their belts (not that that's where you normally keep a cap, but hey) like that Dutch side had then it could be a side to strike fear in 5 years time. The key word here is team, something the last three managers have miserable failed to build. Compare that with Spain..... Admittedly the real work needs to be done in restructuring the clubs, building teams from nurtured talent, changing the emphases in training and skills from a very young age. Something the FA has failed to persuade the short termism obsessed premier league to do, and (though we'll argue about this for ever more) something that filling in the gaps with cheaper talent from abroad will always serve to stifle in blooding home grown talent.

Erm, you haven't given me a single answer, yet. In lieu of debate you always sidestep with another irrelevant link or do some sort of petulant comeback. Besides how could you have answered a book recommendation before I gave it? Truly I despair ;-) And read the book, get something that's actually been researched into that head of yours for once!
-
I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he wa pooped, but part of me is inclined to agree with you Jah. Either way he's never done it in an England shirt the way he does time and again in a Liverpool one.

It probably helps to study history first else the lessons of history are easily manipulated to suit the present. And by study history I don't mean obsess over the internet. If you're looking at history doomed to repeat itself I can highly recommend the recently published Afgantsy by Rodric Braithwaite. As intelligent and authoritative a book on modern history as I've ever had the pleasure of reading (and only a fiver on amazon at the moment).

I agree, though probably because of the powerful hallucinogens we're inhaling as we look at them!

NN, you are Donald Rumsfeld and I claim my ?5.

He also wants to ban exotic weapons "designed to damage space or natural ecosystems (such as the ionosphere and upper atmosphere) or climate, weather, and tectonic systems with the purpose of inducing damage or destruction upon a target population or region on earth or in space". In fact most of the weapon systems he refers to either only exist in science fiction or in speculative discussions about what we might be able to achieve in the future, or are in early research status. Just becaus Ronald Reagan fanatasised about much of it, doesn't mean it exists. I've no reason why this chap decided to propose such catch all legislation with no particluar focus in mind. It doesn't however prove anything. If he'd suggested banning the use of medically untested chemical sprays such as Agent Orange over populations, even in war time, I'm sure everyone would get behind that. Have you stopped to think that even if they did exist, spilling a few chemical at 30,000 ft will simply be dispersed? As you saw from the Moscow Theatre hostage crisis, dosing is hard to do even in a relatively controlled environment. Chucking it out of the back of planes, civilian airliners at that? a)Pointless b)Pure fantasy Come on proof.

And? What are you analytical faculties extrapolating from that document?
-
Interesting use of newspeak. I realise you're trying to imply that Huguenot is a victim of the state's propoganda, but ironically in using it you are betraying the symptoms of newspeak's nefarious intention, that is to curb an individual's analytical faculties through reduction of the linguistic tools available to support them. You see? Oh, irony again, sorry.

You've posted an article, I read it. It discusses whether or not water fluoridation is desirable. It make some good points, which are essentially opinion, but many of them quite sensible. Then it goes on to say that some studies may indicate x or y. These niche studies from places like China and Iran aren't really going to do much to sway established world medical opinion based on over 50 years of fluoridation, ie a sample set of billions. That doesn't equal 50 empirical facts. For my part I'm inclined to agree that it ought to be a matter of choice, but then most of us choose to brush our teeth with flouridated toothpaste rather than have gums full of rotten stubs. And there the article leaves it. There is no suggestion of conspiracy or nefarious effects or motives for doing so. The fact that you're posting it on a thread about chem trails means you seem (and forgive me if my inferences are incorrect) to be implying that because fluoridation of water exists, that means they also put chemicals in aircraft fuel. Do you have 50 empirical facts about what they are and what they are intended to achieve. Saying 'I watched Jacob's Ladder so it must be true" is not an acceptable answer.
-
"May" == "expressing possibility" "May" != " empirical fact"
-
Hmm, no sense of irony. Maybe you are American after all, juice box boy.

clearly parkdrive was watching a different game. Parker was very good, one whoops moment notwithstanding. In fact apart from the obvious inexperience of the side being exposed, I thought it was one of the most positive performances I've seen from an England side in ages. Robben == class!!
-
Blimey, another one. I reckon they must be putting something in the water ;-)
-
Excellent news, about time. Gerrard has rarely produced good form for England. Plus he gets involved in punch ups. Whilst infinitely preferable to Terry, I don't think he should have any complaints that aren't of the 'Do you know who I am' variety.

elected upper house: is it true no one cares?
El Pibe replied to mynamehere's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's hardly a vote winner is it. I'm inclined to agree with H and MM that by and large it does the job required of it. I'm not even that fussed about the church being there which is still representative of a portion of the population and it's moral basis, and morality isn't a terrible thing to consider when law making. The numbers should be reduced though. Maybe one bishop, an imam, a guru and a jedi or something. I too think life peerages should go, but as MM says this should be tinkering, not throwing out the baby with the bath water. -
Free school in South London - Steiner
El Pibe replied to dontpanic's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I've no idea whether or not creationism is taught. If it isn't doubtless it's because Steiner had his own rather esoteric take on matters Try reading his book on creation here http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=vUcV67_Ni30C&pg=PA106&vq#v=onepage&q&f=false I love the bit where he's careful to reassure the reader that he 'relied soley on spiritual scientific investigation' as he launches into an exposition of lucerific influences in the formation of the world and its parallels to magnetism and elastic trickery... *makes circular motions with finger next to temple* "Woooooooo" -
England - Holland. Brings a tear to the eye. Happier days they were, happier days.

I kid you not, some less savoury characters I knew as a whipper snapper would sing "you're going home in a Letchworth ambulance" on just such a night out. The smaller the town the more townies think they matter. This is why I left!!

Clearly people missed the implied tumbleweed in the list of countries we would end up selling it to. And to answer your question, I have only ever travelled on the roads by taxi (rickety) or moped (very very very scary!!!!) in India.

I dunno Chippy. Places that use [double deckers] that we have strong trade links with: Ireland, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Japan. Drive on the left: errr Ireland, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Japan. Places that we'll probably sell the routemaster to:

Doesn't the Brixton Ritzy do a daytime Mothers and Toddlers session so that you can go safe in the knowledge noone is going to shush your child?
