  1. Bah, very annoyed to have got a correct score in the west hame palace game :(
  2. Just make it a criminal offence. Any company that has business in the city of london, if found complicit in bribing a foreign official, even if that ws done by a foreign intermediary, is criminally responsible, and individuals can go to jail. I can't see why a company using indentured labour abroad can't be sinilarly held to task. It's stop UK firms doing it quick smart. Poor working conditions is a tougher nut to crack obviously. Ultimately the consumer is at fault and the consumer is a selfish beast. You didn't see many boycotts of irish wheat during the famine did you?

yep, looks like he may well have sealed legendary status for this alone
  4. My four year old has just got into Pro Evo Soccer, though obviously he hasn't got the hang of it. He requested west ham versus london, so i gave him spurs. I kid you not, it was 8-0!!! perhaps not the way round quids might have hoped for though :(

  6. we hired a little villa in lapad, dubrovnik which was nice, lots of very reasonable options around.
  7. Foxy, you don't go on somewhere asking for feedback (which will usually be critical, though it's all been positive useful criticism), and get all defensive. It's early doors for what I guess was largely an intellectual autodidactic exercise anyway. Fantastic what you've achieved technically, so now it's time to get your design hat polishewd (I'm terrible at design I'll admit but have an idea what works and what doesn't). I'd echo many of the comments, but a great starting point would be to get a simple elegant sans serif as your font, serifs (times new roman?) do look terribly 1995. Also try less hard to get flashy stuff at this stage and just try for the moment to get your layout right. Design it on paper, consider that people will be on differnt browsers on different devices, not everyone has a browser opened at full screen either. Do it on paper, work out your divs and spans and get a base template working for your site. Remember, reuse reuse reuse.
  8. just cram these in every spare corner, ermmmmm, knock down the ED warehouse?
  9. what the hell, why not just hire the band/orchestra if you have that much cash??!??!?
  10. although in fairness I think it might be more of a satire on pseudo scientific naturo/homeopathy sites than audiophiles.
  11. cheers RC
  12. searching for ludicrous accessories I found this lovely spoof site. I love the poor english in the adverts contrasting the overblown testimonials http://www.machinadynamica.com/ the frog bowls and water andf the blue meanies are the best
  13. Brilliant. In fairness (really) cheap cables can murder a system, but you don't have to spend much. When the sky engineer set up our system the other day he used a battered comes-with-your-telly HDMI and it was bascially snow and he looked aghast, so I quickly poassed him a normal one and the picture was suddenly clear. So it can't *all* be placebo effect.
  14. same here jeremy. When I went to my mum's to reclaim my old vinyl collection after too many years living in places that couldn't accomodate a turntable, leave alone records, I discovred she'd sold them all off to a local record store. Plus all my dancve music that I lent my mate ended up in new zealand when he emigrated. So only the small portion of 20 or so that was at my brothers survived. I don't even know how I'm going to find stuff in this corner of ireland.
  15. yeah....what jeremy said in 1000 more words eh!
  16. I'm pretty sure though that most champions of vinyl (at least that I know) don't claim it's a better sound, they just claim it feels better. It's warmer, fuzzier, somehow more natural *because* of it's imperfections, perfect reproduction often sounds sterile. Think studio versus live I guess. Maybe its a generational thing, us older bods who grew up with vinyl are obviously harking back to bygone days and associations and we know it. Yes early DAC was pretty terrible, but now I have a fairly budget one running off my PC and a nice set of headphones and the sound quality quite clearly blows my turntable out the water, but I still prefer sitting in the hifi room, the process of vinyl, the warmth of the sound. Maybe (the potential straw man in his argument) some people claim it's objectively better quality, I don't know them personally, but they're probably the overzealous converts (hipsters?) who have 'discovered' vinyl. I'm alos reminded of the idiots who swear by 'burn in' as if a DAC is going to preform better because it's had some current running through it for 300 hours. Obviously they're just getting used to a different sound and adjusting their brains to original expectations, but I blather...
  17. I'd love maxxi to win (no offence lg) but as last year's wooden spoon contenders it'd be hilarious for us to make the final, perfect representatives of our chosen team!!!!!
  18. *hint* west ham won't win!!!
  19. i did, i forgot to do it...again... ah well i was out of the running even with my lost weeks taken into account i reckon.
  20. :) I think it was just a bit of overcompensating. I dug around a bit and found this reflection, so he probably regrets the second more than he does the first.
  21. same reviewer. One album (and doubtless some heavy duty sessions with the band to make up for past transgressions) later, and his tone has changed remarkably!!!! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/led-zeppelin-ii-19691213
  22. or of an undisputed classic ""Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" alternates between prissy Robert Plant's howled vocals fronting an acoustic guitar and driving choruses of the band running down a four-chord progression while John Bonham smashes his cymbals on every beat. The song is very dull in places (especially on the vocal passages), very redundant, and certainly not worth the six-and-a-half minutes the Zeppelin gives it." Ha, they did something to personally offend this chap!
  23. Ha, brilliant. Nice one Nashoi. Funnily enough it makes me think of the condescending muso reviewers on Pitchfork. I know when they write a scathing review then its probably worth listenig to. "Here a jazzy introduction gives way to a driving (albeit monotonous) guitar-dominated background for Plant's strained and unconvincing shouting (he may be as foppish as Rod Stewart, but he's nowhere near so exciting, especially in the higher registers)." Savage!!
  24. chordless headphones for the deaf, nice pun!
