  1. the million dead a week is a bit dubious too given that's total deaths globally, including what we might term old age, not to mention untimely deaths that are nothing to do with health, I guess the car being the biggest killer there.
  2. Walls. Economic, political, sectarian, military http://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2013/nov/walls you can see some improving, some getting worse. Given the way of things the damascene and brazilian models seem the most likely to proliferate
  3. is that 3 billion people who can't read it in English or their own language? World adult literacy level is around 85%, youth literacy higher than that. I suppose there's a certain percentage under the age of 5, do they count? aaagh, sorry with the pedantry, i agree with the sentiment underlined by unsubstantiated figures....
  4. I think flamers tend to be the obvious light the blue touch paper and stand back, where trolls are grumpy antisocial types/outcasts (even if self-defined so) in general. Both can be very entertaining if done right. Snorks is an excellent flamer in general for instance. Huguenot ticked most boxes of the troll definition but did it with a certain charm, panache and wouldn't take himself too seriously. I think the latter point is pretty important in differntiating between the good ones and the idiots. anyway, found a couple for you otta http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,959317 http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,944243,944243#msg-944243
  5. yep, worst decision ever. The purpose of a train is to get to its destination on time, not necessarily to bring anyone there. grrrrrrrrrr.

I'd love to have seen Sweden's recovery complete if just to annoy Ronaldo, but then I guess he has a right to be an arrogant sod, he's the kind of player who does this under the highest pressure. We really do have a journeyman team, almost casually dissected by a pretty journeyman german performance. A bit depressing. I can't wait til the world cup but I can't see myself getting worked up about England games.
  7. It can actually be qeirdly entertaining when you get two of them on the same thread twirly. Like a confabulatory version of the 'touched you last game' my brother and i used to play in the back of the car on long journies, driving my parents to the edge of sanity...
  8. Maybe he gets a rise too, nudge nudge etc.
  9. dropbox works fine. google+, google drive and so on ties in to android well.
  10. I set up a thread once. Got attacked for doing so by a bunch of new posters protesting too much. Nuff said really. I reckon some people are just that type of person, they like to see a person's eyes widen as they say things a bit close to the knuckle *as they might deem it) and would probably be happy to have the same conversation with you down the pub. Fair enough in that sense. I suspect most of them are just idiots though, safe in their anonymity. This forum's usually pretty good at ignoring/humouring/belittling them though.
  11. I did witness such an event in a pub in Earl's Court as it goes. I still shudder at the memory.
  12. Oh god make it happen, I don't think I can take much more.

of course down at culwich hamlet you get the best of both worlds, watch from the warmth of the club house (can be hard to get hold of window space on especially cold days)

  15. what a load of old tosh.
  16. superstar!!
  17. not to constantly cry wolf, but it is very much MO territory. Manage to manage posting for normal a while until sock puppet is established then finally reach a point where unable to keep a lid on trolling and bomb every thread going with some 'controversy'.
  18. You have no evidence it was unlurked (constantly and tediously) shitstirring otta, maybe it was you!!!
  19. HAve we hit enough of a tipping point to warrant a bike shed in the forum?
  20. excellent, i have the house wired up for it, but generally want to output to stuff i already own rather than have to buy new bits.
  21. "I bet pooh looks good on the gents floor" genius!!

Frankly The Hamlet are better than England in 2010 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24995256 He fails to mention that Germany have also improved. oh well.
  24. They're all a pretty forgettable bunch. But then I thought that of One Direction, so shows what I know. Tamera has potential to do well, ie she's young, gullible, malleable, will sign the worst contract Syco offers and is pretty and skinny with a nice bum. She can even sing, though not convinced that's a prerequisite.
